Most canned and bottled tomato
sauces are preserved with sodium. According to the USDA, half a cup
of classic marinara sauce has well over 400 mg of salt. A cup of
tomato juice raises the sodium to 600 mg. If you don't measure your
sauce, the salt will sneak its way into your diet.
