Q: Please introduce yourself

Hi, I’m Bizen Lopez! 

Q: One person you'd dream to have a coffee with?

With my father, he left when I was a child, and having a conversation as an adult would be necessary. 

Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

Healing people. 

Q: If you would have been given the chance to do a film score, what movie would you choose and why?

Terminator, It was my childhood movie, and the soundtrack is amazing. 

Q: Who has been the most influential in your music career? And who has been the most influential in your personal life?

In my musical career I would say, my family on my father's side, they were musicians and I think it all comes from there. Personally, without a doubt, my mother, she has always been my biggest support and my guide. 

Q: Tell us about your journey, what got you to where you are today?

A lot of work, especially in the studio, which has brought me to where I am today. I lock myself up to make music, and thanks to that, I have visited cities like Turkey, Zurich, Italy, and Dusserdolf, besides getting a lot of support from the biggest of the scene, being in the top 1 tech house with my own label, all these little things have added to the fact that people support my sound and are waiting for new releases and want to dance to my sets. The journey for me is organic, and some circumstances have led to others, but if there is no work, they are not presented. Perhaps one of the most remarkable moments was my year in Barcelona, I made contact with Los Suruba, and they introduced me to Dennis, now I work for him, and the list of contacts that has opened up for me is enormous. Even so, there is still a lot to do, it's 10 years producing electronica, but a lifetime with music, and I feel that this is the perfect moment and that great things will come. 

Q: Everyone goes through ups and downs, what’s one habit you adopt to push through the downs?

Disconnect, walk in the mountains, listen to other types of music, go out to the club to listen to artists I idolize, watch old recorded sessions, see where I was and where I am, evaluate the journey, and above all, enjoy the process to have as few ups and downs as possible. Sometimes, it's just pressure; everything goes very fast. 

Q: What is one pro work ethic that you would recommend to the readers/listeners?

Work hard, be consistent, be patient, focus on small achievements, aim for your possibilities, be inspired by great artists and enjoy the journey and don't compare yourself to anyone. 

Q: How has your music style evolved over the years?

I think that in the last three years, I have achieved a completely personal and consolidated sound. I am trying to adapt to the scene and the new sound, maintaining the essence of my sound and working in detail. That moment when people recognize your sound is the point at which you can vary but maintain and thus evolve wherever you want. 

Q: If you were to venture into another music genre, which one would you choose and why?

Hip hop, it's the first music I heard, and it wasn't what my parents played me, they say that the first genre you listen to outside the home marks you, that and why I love rapping, graffiti, break dancing and all that movement that surrounds it. 

Q: Could you name 3 tracks that got you into electronic music and why?

A) Breathe by The Prodigy,

B) Spastik by Richie Hawtin,

C) Crispy bacon by Laurent Garnier,

I think they are incredible works of art. 

Q: Can you recommend a hidden gem in your home country that would be perfect for a rave?

I couldn't tell you, a rave needs a good sound and a good session. 

Q: Could you tell us about your upcoming releases and plans for the year?

Well, I'm scheduling dates and working on some big releases, aiming very high is on my to-do list this year, releases on Muse by Dennis, Coco by Sosa, Showcases with my Label Sibil.la Music... and some little things that I can't tell you still. 

Q: Can you share a fun fact about yourself that most of your listeners are probably unaware of?

I love learning to imitate voices, I like to eat bread with ketchup and mayonnaise just like that, and I am obsessed with straightening crooked doormats and rugs.

Bonus Q Powered by Pioneer DJ: How did Pioneer DJ influence your career and what is your favorite Pioneer DJ gear?

I've always been a Pioneer lover, I've had headphones, Mini Hi-Fi System, turntables, I remember buying the Pioneer The Album CDs, they were 3 CDs, house, dance and progressive, what a time... My first pro mixer was a DJM 700, so many hours of learning, I still have it and it has not given me any failure, of course my mixes can be heard in the car with a Pioneer radio and speakers!
