Mumbai: Akshay Kumar, a versatile actor in Bollywood is all set to feature in his debut Telugu film. Recently, the Asshay grabbed the headlines on social media after reaching Hyderabad. Earlier, speculations were at rift when the actor was planning to collaborate with the Telugu filmmakers to rope him into Tollywood. After playing the lead role in the action-thriller, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Akshay is all set to feature in a new avatar in Vishnu Manchu’s Kannappa. Read on to find more details.

Akshay Kumar Makes His Debut in Tollywood

On April 16, Akshay Kumar was seen in Hyderabad, where he met the makers of Kannappa. Taking to Vishnu Machu’s X/ Twitter handle he shared a video of Akshay Kumar being welcomed to the Telugu film industry. Sharing the video, Vishnu wrote, “The # journey just got more thrilling as we welcome the Superstar Mr. Akshay Kumar to the Telugu Film Industry. Thrilled to announce his debut in Telugu cinema with Kannappa. Get ready for an unforgettable adventure!(sic).”

Akshay Kumar Likely To Play Lord Shiva

Speculations were at rife when Akshay Kumar was roped into a titular role in Vishnu Manchu’s Kannappa. According to the latest report by HT Times, claimed that Akshay is most likely to play the role of Lord Shiva in the Telugu film. For Akshay, it will not be the first time that the actor will be representing a God figurine. In films like OMG and OMG Akshay presented Lord Krishna in the first part and in the second installation Akshay played Lord Shiva. Therefore, seeing Akshay presenting God figurines will be another excitement in the Kannappa.

Akshay Kumar’s Career in South Industry

Akshay has had a progressive career in Bollywood, going down south Akshay had a tough time getting the attention of the audience. However, Akshay initially starred in a Kannada bi-lingual film released in 1993, titled, Ashaant and in 2018, Akshay Kumar made a return to the south film industry where he plays the role of an antagonist in Shankar’s Rajinikanth starrer 2.0. Now after announcing Kannappa, it will be his third project in the South film industry.

Kannapaa’s Star Cast

Based on a true story, the mythological-based film has an array of star cast featured in Kannapaa. The cast includes actors from, Bollywood, Tamil, and Telugu industry as well. Kannappa features big names like dancing legend Prabhu Deva, veteran actor Sarath Kumar, Prabhas, Shiva Rajkumar, Madhoo, Brahmanandam, Mukesh Rishi, Kaushal Manda, and other prominent actors. Stephen Devassy and Mani Sharma will be leading the music of the mythological thriller, On the other hand, Anthony will be handling the editing part of the film.

About Kannapaa

Kannappa is a project close to Vishnu’s heart. The film is backed by Mohan under AVA Entertainment and 24 Frames Factory. Mohan has also penned the screenplay for the film, which is based on a story developed by Paruchuri Gopala Krishna, Eshwar Reddy, G Nageswara Reddy, and Thota Prasad. The movie was shot in Telugu and will be dubbed into other South Indian languages as well as Hindi.
