Standing Together, our organizations represent millions of parents and constituents across California. We stand united in opposing SB866, a bill that will reduce the age of consent to all vaccines, including the COVID-19 vaccine, to 15. We will not accept amendments to SB866, as any child under the age of 18 is a minor, and SB866 will still be illegal and directly conflict with and violate federal law. SB866 leads California families and children down the Slippery Slope of interfering with the sacred Parent-Child Relationship. SB866 is a gateway bill to other harmful bills that will further erode this imperative connection between children and the adults entrusted with, and legally obligated to caring for them.
SB866 does not broaden health rights and access or empower children. SB866 removes critical support anyone, but especially a minor, needs to make medical decisions. It sets them up for failure to make potentially harmful, lifelong decisions without critical information or a parent or guardian to support them through the process. No child can legally consent to vaccines in the state of California. Only a parent or guardian may consent on the minor’s behalf, and only after receiving a federally required Vaccine Information Statement. Minors are not capable of making sound risk/benefit decisions without being influenced by peer pressure and coercion. This bill will have unintended consequences that will lead to insurmountable coercion, bullying and duress for minors to succumb to a medical procedure and treatment they may not want or should not have.
SB866 allows children to receive the COVID-19 shot without parental knowledge or consent, even though it is still an experimental, investigational, and unlicensed product that is not fully approved by the FDA.
SB866 is an extreme, anti-parent, anti-family bill. Although the purported intent of the Bill’s authors is to expand the health rights that minors already have, this bill exposes children to unnecessary risk, coercion, and harm. We declare that it is a parents’ protective authority to decide what is in the best interest for their child’s health. The strong opposition to SB866 is bipartisan and includes both Democrats and Republicans.
Constituents, Organizations, and Parents of California stand united to protect children. We stand united in opposition to SB866. We stand united in the belief that it is a parent’s right to oversee the medical care, procedures, and treatments of his or her children. We stand together as Parents, Grandparents, Aunties, Uncles, Concerned Citizens, Superintendents, School Board Members, County Supervisors, Vaccinated and Unvaccinated, Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, Independents, Rabbis, Pastors, Priests, Leaders, Members, of all Races, Creeds, and all Walks of Life. We stand united in opposing SB866 and protecting the children of California by keeping crucial parental rights in place.
UNITED IN OPPOSITION TO SB866.
