It’s been another busy month at DNEG - we’ll give you the full lowdown in three minutes or less!

HELLO, TORONTO!

The recent announcement of our fourth North American studio is very exciting! Boasting a world-renowned arts and culture scene, Toronto is a hub for film and television production. Our new studio will create 200 opportunities across VFX, animation, and technology - but that's not all! Our wonderful TA teams are busy hiring across all our global sites to cater to the amazing slate of shows that are coming our way!

NOVATOR INVESTS

Earlier this month, we announced an investment by Novator Capital Advisors in our parent company. This investment helps DNEG to continue transforming the future of storytelling and positions us to expand into new areas of opportunity such as content development and gaming. DNEG AT SIGGRAPH

At the beginning of the month, we were front and center with the latest VFX innovations at the Virtual SIGGRAPH 2021 conference! Our talented team members presented a fantastic line-up of presentations and masterclasses: Greyhound, colour-managing LED Walls, the latest developments and tools in the open-source library OpenVDB, and our 2021 VFX showcase.

DNEG INDIA INSPIRES

The DNEG India team had a busy month participating in several inspiring talks! In the webinar 'Make The Big Picture', Jigesh Gajjar, Head of VFX - DNEG India, joined MAAC to discuss opportunities in the VFX industry. At SummitFX, DNEG leaders including President, Global Production and Operations Merzin Tavaria, talked about how our team is responding to the sector's fast-changing landscape and innovative new opportunities.

PIXAR'S RENDERMAN ART & SCIENCE FAIR

Our amazing Animation team took part in Pixar’s RenderMan Art & Science Fair! The group discussed how they built a brand new Feature Animation studio from the ground up and how they transitioned from DNEG’s VFX pipeline to one that allowed them to deliver ‘Ron’s Gone Wrong’ – and move into production on six new animated shows!

GOOD THINGS COME IN 3'S...

Our sister company ReDefine had a busy month with three new releases hitting screens around the world. On Netflix, the heart-stopping Jason Momoa starring drama ‘Sweet Girl’ is already trending, whilst ‘Bell Bottom’ was India’s first major Bollywood release in Cinemas since the outbreak of the pandemic. This was followed by mystery thriller ‘Chehre’, released at the end of the month!

DIVE DEEP WITH DAVID ANDREWS & MIKE CORCORAN

We held our first #DeepDive webinar this month! Animation Director David Andrews & Global Workflow Architect, Creatures & Characters Mike Corcoran presented a thought-provoking plunge into facial performance and animation. ‘The Revolution: The New Era Of Facial Performance’, was a major success with over 100 attendees!
