Marijuana and Psychedelics Conference in Arizona This Weekend

The AZ Plant Medicine Conference will be held in Tucson from December 6 – 8. The conference will educate people regarding the health benefits and options of plant-based medicine.

Discussions will be held on different types of plant-based medicines including cannabis, CBD, psychedelics and ketamine. Focus will be placed on how these medicines can be used to replace pharmaceuticals.

Rick Robin, the founder of MAPS (Multi-Disciplinary Association of Psychedelic Studies), will be a featured speaker via teleconference where he’ll discuss psychedelics as medicine. The FDA declared MDMA and psilocybin (the psychoactive chemical in ‘magic’ mushrooms) as breakthrough therapies. MDMA is now slated for Stage 3 FDA trials, the last set of trials before clinical legalization, which could come potentially as early as 2021.

Dr. Sue Sisley, an Arizona researcher, is also on the featured speakers list and will be discussing the potential of medical marijuana as a treatment for PTSD.

Other featured speakers include:

  • Joe Tafur, MD – Modern Spirit
  • Charles Carrreon – Attorney
  • Ellen Diamond, PhD.
  • Kevin Nicholson – Ketamine Wellness Center
  • Mikel Weisser – AZ NORML
  • Kate Hawke, MA – Director of the Trauma Transformation Network
  • David Yrigoyen – Natural Healing Center of Tucson
  • Mathew Kent and Annie Zapf – Peyote Way Church
  • David Robertson, DO. – AZ Department of Corrections

The event kicks off on Friday, Dec 6 at 9:30 a.m. and concludes at 5:30 p.m. On Dec 7 and 8, the event’s hours are 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. The event is being held at the Tucson Convention Center. Tickets range in price from $5 – $90.
