DERBYSHIRE OPEN ARTS Banks Mill Studios 28 & 29 May 10am-5pm
This Derbyshire-wide event is back and over 217 artists at 62 venues are pleased to be showcasing their artwork and handmade items to you. Banks Mill has 11 artists showcasing their artwork, with other venues in Mickleover, Darley Abbey and Repton also taking part there are plenty of artists to meet in Derby.

STUDIO CHAT WITH FI BURKE Banks Mill Member
Fi Burke has been a practicing artist for over 20 years now and her practice is quite meditative, fed by ideas and her fascination with time and nature. She tries to create visual representations of those meditations, expressing realisations, and enabling connections.
We spent five minutes with Fi for a studio chat.

KELLY HERRICKS FREE MAGICAL ART ADVENTURE KIT Banks Mill Member
Kelly Herrick is sharing her passion for painting outdoors, and celebrating the wild magic of nature, by creating a free 'Magical Art Adventure Kit'.
The kit contains a video and a PDF download to get you prepared and inspired to create your own art out in nature. It contains a full materials list, practical hints and tips as well as inspirations to get you started.

CHRISTINE THOMAS SHOWCASES AT WELSH EXHIBITION

Christine Thomas is a mixed media artist who recently moved into Banks Mill Studios. She has been busy working away on five pieces of tapestry for an exhibition in Wales.
In Pictures at Plas Bodfa is the latest exhibition that owner, Julie Upmeyer has curated. The exhibition focuses on history, storytelling and contemporary works by 77 individuals and collectives.
Christine has five pieces of work on show, which were produced in collaboration with the Elizbeth Bradley company who donated the wool.

ARTCHAIRS ON SHOW AT BELPER LIBRARY Belper Arts Trail 1 & 2 May (ARt ChaiRs display until 7 May)
ARt ChaiRs is pleased to be exhibiting in her hometown as part of the Belper Arts Trail. Sarah Skinner will be installing a quirky display of her chairs in the windows of the new Belper Library. The works will be on display until Sat 7 May.
Belper is a very arty town and always well worth a visit; The trail is this weekend on Sun and Mon, 1 and 2 May.
Several other Banks Mill artists will also be taking part including Curious Inky Me, Diane Daley, Kelly Herrick, Ruth Gray and Sarah Perkins Art

DERBY PRINT OPEN
Green Door Printmaking Studio Banks Mill Studios & Dubrek Studios 1-30 June
The Derby Print Open is an exhibition showcasing contemporary printmaking from UK based artists and this year 60 artists are taking part with a total of 209 prints.
The exhibition this year will be spanning both Banks Mill Studios, and our neighbours Dubrek Studios as well as online too.
There will be an open weekend to celebrate the exhibition on 4 & 5 June from 11am-4pm.
The exhibition at Banks Mill is open 1-30 June, 11am-3pm (closed Tues & Sun) and at Dubrek Studios; Mon 5pm-10.30pm, Tue-Thur 11am-3pm & 5pm-10.30pm; Fri-Sat 11am-11pm; Sun 11am-3pm.

MIKE HILL EXHIBITS AT FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE HOSPITAL
London Road, Derby
Abstract artist Michael Hill will be exhibiting several of his colourful pieces at the Florence Nightingale hospital, London Road, Derby as part of their ‘Curiosity’ exhibition.
The exhibition is curated by Air Arts who are the arts charity for Derby Teaching Hospitals, promoting health and wellbeing through the arts and arts participation.

Banks Mill Foyer Open until 20 May, week days 9am-3pm If you missed this exhibition then its good news, as we have extended it! ‘Piece by Piece’ is a collection of Diane Daley's favourite works since starting seven years ago and the exhibition shows her progression and growth, with pieces ranging from various times of her career as an artist. |
