Shifting Fate #3

Bond of Destiny

Rate this book
Just when Rowan thought things might be coming together. When she dared to hope things might work out. The world around her crumbled.

Betrayed by her own pack. Held captive by someone she should’ve been able to trust above all others. And time is running out.

Her only hope is her mates. Holden, Anson, Lucas, Keene, and Vaughn won’t stop fighting. For Rowan and for their bond.

But just when they thought there might be a way out, everything is turned upside down yet again.

Because the person who’s after Rowan? He’ll stop at nothing until all of her powers are his. And if he can’t have them, no one will…

**The final book in a continuing three-book series. A reverse harem, why choose romance. Think fated mates, a heroine who has no idea just how special she is, broody, swoony, crazy protective heroes, and a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat.**

This was such a fun series! I really enjoyed the heroine's relationship with all of the heroes and how she navigated the paranormal world she hadn't known existed before. There was definitely a lot of suspense near the end with certain characters that were revealed, which kept me on my toes. Overall, this is a solid four star series and I'd definitely recommend it if you want a why choose paranormal romance with a bunch of werewolves!

Sadly, though it was really well written, there was way too much repetition in this one for me.

•Dialogue - Ex. The repetitive use of "I love you." as an emotional bandaid/apology/conversation.
•Sex Scenes - Ex. The same positions, order, and description over and over with little variety. (There was a ton of sex in this book. Yay! But, I can only think of two that were decidedly different scenes from the rest. And only one where the heroine was giving instead of receiving. Usually, everything was happening TO her.)
•Character/action - Ex. Our heroine would panic, sob, and run every time things got difficult.

That last one was a deal breaker for me. I love character dynamism in the books I read. Given the first book, I was expecting her to evolve as a stronger more self-confident woman. Instead, she became weaker and relied on the men to plan everything while she panicked. Eek.

The first book really grabbed me and the second held my attention. This one let me down. I almost DNF. Still, the author has a really great flow and delivers emotion well. I will def try the next series and cross my fingers for a better outcome.

Bond of Destiny is the final book in the Shifting Fate trilogy by Tessa Hale, and I can certainly see fans enjoying this one. While I did feel like this was a huge improvement upon the second book (I’ve decided that one suffered from major second book syndrome), it was not enough to completely win me over.

For me, Bond of Destiny solidified my feeling that the series should have either been shorter or the books should have been longer. There was a lot of repetition throughout, which was disappointing considering the lack of depth and how predictable the story was. There was so much potential with this, many elements that could have been explored in greater detail, yet everything happened quickly and was without the depth they needed. Such prevented me from falling deeply for me. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed watching things come together in this one, yet there was nothing that will ensure this series lingers in my mind.

All in all, this series clearly was not for me. Those who enjoy quick and easy reads, stories without too much depth, are sure to power through these.

Great Ending!

Wow!!! What a great ending this was! I absolutely loved all these guys and how much they grew throughout this story. So much action and drama with some real-life lessons. This was definitely worth the wait!

This was a real awkward read. It has the typical cheesy stuff that I don't mind as long as they blend right, but on this book? It was... just... no.

"Sack of potatoes" " keep looking at me like that and ..." so many phrases like that I keep seeing on so many RH. Do these authors read other RH books? I wish they were more original.

The first book was awesome. But that was it. Then the story was completely lost on me. The story itself feels so ridiculous. The scenes are cut too short and I cant take any character seriously.

Thumbs down on this one.

The ending was sweet, but it all felt too superficial for me. The storyline, the predictability and the overuse of phrases like "I love you" and "you're not alone".

🐺 The story 🐺
After once again running into the arms of the enemy, Rowan has to fight back with everything that she has – even if it’ll cost her everything she loves.

Damn, I was disappointed when I liked that dude. There were still a lot of things in the story that just didn’t add up, and I’m honestly quite over it. It’s all really cheesy, and I don’t get why they’d adore Rowan like they do, because she MASSIVELY sucks. I did however like seeing Kaleb’s powers, his dream-walking thing was really cool tbh. However, he’s literally ancient, but some teenagers can outsmart him? Yeah, no.

We’ve now reached the point that annoyed me the most out of everything, which says something. Of course, OF COURSE, they offer her Yes, yes that makes sense, let’s offer it to a literal child who can’t do shit, and doesn’t know ANYTHING about the shifter community, yes!! Makes sense!!!!!! Argh. I’m not going to talk about that anymore because I can seriously throw something. The end itself was cute I guess, Was kind of disappointed that we didn’t get to see that.

🐺 The characters 🐺
🖌️Rowan🖌️
Rowan’s favourite role is playing the victim, and since she was taken by the enemy, she can claim this role even more fully in this book. She still drove me nuts, she’s constantly making everything about her. and yet she is the one who needs to be reassured that she’s amazing; instead of actually being there for Holden, she just has sex again. Seriously? Someone teach her how to deal with shit without it turning into sex ugh. The number of times that she’s attacked is really unbelievable, why would high schoolers try to freaking kill you so many times? Yeah, happened in my high school every day too!! Doesn’t. Make. Sense. I’m so sick of her poor me attitude, I can’t even.

👨‍👨‍👦‍👦The guys👨‍👨‍👦‍👦
Nothing much changed in my opinion of them, they all still feel like really flat characters who are only there to make Rowan feel better about herself. They all feel interchangeable to me, and I don’t think I really care about any of them. Vaughn had at least some backstory, but the others feel really bland.

🐺 Overall conclusion 🐺
I didn’t love this at all. I feel like the only character that I feel something towards is Rowan, and that’s not positive at all. All the other characters felt like bland characters – even when someone cool was introduced during her captivity, she was just there to progress the plot and then never appeared again. The entire story just felt really bland, but it was still easy to read. Just so annoying.

HOLY SMOKES!!! How much more can be packed into this phenomenal trilogy?

I am sitting here trying to find words.

I loved really seeing Rowan come out of her shell and blossom to her true self. She is truly a bad**s. The bond with her mates just continues to grow and I am here for it. Even growly Vaughn will have you completely in love.

The story start off right where Mark of Stars left off. You need to read Spark of Fate and Mark of Stars before Bond of Destiny or you will be lost.

If you want a fated mates, fantastic world building, wolf shifter series with some amazing suspense... this trilogy is for you and is completed with Bond of Destiny. This has moved into the top spot for PNR RH for me. Well done Tessa! You have made a fan of me!

So sad that this series is over, but I loved every minute of Rowan, Holden, Anson, Lucas, Keene, and Vaughn's journey of becoming mates and defending everything they have. They have overcome every challenge thrown at them and in this book they faced the biggest and worst of them all but if you want to find out how they get to their oh-so-sweet HEA then you just have to read to find out.

Well I was glad there wasn’t another one. The rythm was quite off. But still easy to pass time with. Quite disappointing on the smut side. Classical and repetitive.

I can’t believe this trilogy is over but I could not be more happy with it. I absolutely love this group, they’re so dedicated and protective of one another and makes my heart so full. There are so many cute moments in this book (and the series) and had me grinning constantly.

Vaughn being a broody somewhat broken boy means I can’t resist him and seeing him happy makes my heart melt. I mean honestly I love all the guys in this bond, they’re all so amazing and in tune with Rowan that they’re easy to swoon over. Speaking of Rowan, she is hardcore in this book. I adored seeing her realize she can lean on the guys and include them when she’s struggling, even when she doesn’t realize she is.

There was not a dull moment. I read this one so quickly because there’s not a lull where it’s a good place to stop. It’s go go go and I need the content. Honestly, all the books are this way and so easy to follow and understand that it’s definitely a binge worthy series. I highly recommend.

I must be placing too many unrealistic expectations on the heroines in my RH books lately. Once again the heroine was a hot mess and her age really showed. Normally the whole insta love and fated mate trope can work for me if the characters evolve and are mature enough to handle a relationship, especially one with five mates. The trilogy only spans months and ends with everyone still in high school. A chore they often missed out on quite frequently while dealing with all the drama. What really gets me about Rowan is the immaturity and just plain stupid shit she does. As usual she continues to be a weeping mess who runs from her problems. Runs straight outside into into the arms of a killer like the first chick killed in a horror flick. It’s hard for me to see that same girl as someone who saves the shifter race, the two do not compute. The story wasn’t bad but this last one was kinda slow to get through, lots of filler sex that was just not needed.

DNF at 27%

I found there to be too much crying in book two and it felt like a continuation of tears in book three. I also didn’t like how easily bonds 2-4 snapped into place in the last installment. Bond 5 solidifying was even more ridiculous. Then there was an insane amount of coddling and “scooping” Rowan up. It’s been happening for a while but I reached my limit in this book.

The villain is shortsighted in a way that makes you wonder how he got so powerful. It made his poor choices feel like a plot device rather than a character flaw.

Somewhere along the way, I realized that I had no real interest in how this ended (but I also have a pretty good guess because this has been somewhat predictable).

Cliche

Take 1 villain who wants to be King. Mix a bond group with a variety of powers. Add blind adults who jump to conclusion. Sprinkle childhood abandonment issues. Voila. You have this book.

The resolution to this story arc fell flat. It was like throwing spaghetti at the wall. Rowan is still. Annoying? The Bond still lacks depth. Such great potential.

Bond Of Destiny

This series! My god! I was too into the books to write a review at the end of book 2. So here’s a review for both!
Book 2 of this series was all about Rowan’s bond growing with each of her men. She also had to come to terms with what her birth mother did to save her and what exactly she was. Ro had to lean on her bond and trust that they were going to be there for her, no matter what. Ro also had to deal with the fact that at the end of the book, her birth father final makes himself known. Though the reader doesn’t find out who her father is until the beginning of book 3. Vaughn was one of Ro’s men that irritated me to not end. He had just finally started to open up to Ro at the end of book 2 and then something happened that caused Rowan and her men to be apart for a bit.
Book 3 is all about Ro and her men coming together and getting stronger. Rowan had to strengthen her power in order to fight for birth father. I feel like the ending was a bit anticlimactic but I loved it nonetheless!
My love for this series will also be strong! So much mystery, danger, strength, magic, and love are buried in these pages. Come dive into the world of The Shifting Fate Series, you won’t regret it!

This is the conclusion of "The Shifting Fate" series! What an epic conclusion. I'm so happy about this series. It's been one of my favorites from this author. I was so excited when this book dropped and I'm really sad it's ending. I would love to read more about these amazing characters. Or just to see occasional glimpses of this world. If Tessa Hale decides to write more of this world I would be so over those books as well.

This book is a great conclusion and I'm really satisfied with the ending. The last book had a bit of a cliffhanger so I was eager to get my hands on this one. Rowan has had an amazing journey and she's grown so much. I really enjoyed getting to know her. (I'm still pissed about her parents turning out to be so...vicious). But I admire that Rowan was able to grow and connect even though she's had such a traumatic year.

Keene, Vaughn, Anson , Holden and Luc - I loved these guys because they were supportive, overprotective and everything in between. I would've loved to see read more about them but they were still amazing guys.

Tessa Hale has another series coming out and I can't wait to read it. Great job!

What a ride! I’m so sad Rowan’s story is over, literally fell in love with her and her guys. I loved this trilogy...there was so much action, tension, love within her bond, all the different evolutions of the relationships with each guy, the drama over Rowan’s power and her family. Ugh I got to the last page and was so mad the story was over! Tessa Hale has become a favorite author of mine!

If you haven't started this series, I seriously recommend doing it ASAP. If you like reverse harem, fated mates, shifter romance, and spice with jaw dropping plot - go read this!

I great ending to a fabulous series! These books are such quick, fun reads - perfect for if you’re in a slump.

This is a fast-paced, reverse harem, shifter series with the last book having the most spice. 😛

A massive thank you to Tessa Hale for sending me these and for introducing me to this series! It was fabulous.

Great ending

I love Ro and her guys and Tessa did well with this ending tying everything thing up in a nice bow. I love that she got to have a relationship with Abigail and she was able to learn to love and boost her power through her bonds. Overall a nice conclusion for Ro and her guys

I would recommend this series again and again.

I needed a shifter series with well developed characters, a good plot and spice level. These books were well balanced. I don’t want to give any spoilers on a review but, this series was definitely worth reading for me.

It’s a no from me. It wasn’t bad but it was pretty boring, and the repetitive “every chapter has to end on a big important line” got kind of old.
