This scholarship is named in honor of Dr. Howard B. Bennett, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a life-long educator. As a teacher, principal, and superintendent Dr. Bennett was dedicated to seeing his students succeed. It is awarded to a high school senior currently attending school in the Lower Connecticut River Valley who has dedicated time and effort to improving their community and is planning on continuing their education beyond high school. Preference is given to a student who is committed to entering a field that will serve the common good. Preference for this scholarship will also be given to students with a demonstrated financial need.
