Children with disfigurements shouldn’t face mental health problems alone this Christmas. Many, already deeply affected by isolation or anxiety, will struggle more during COVID-19. Help fund the UK’s only counselling service helping children with disfigurements get practical and emotional support.

    Situation

86,000 children in the UK today live with a disfigurement. They face teasing, ridicule and staring in public. Almost half are bullied at school. The Coronavirus crisis makes their lives even tougher, with children also dealing with loss of normal routine, video calls, and school closures. They’re increasingly anxious as lockdown eases, and fear returning to school and going out in public. Yet with NHS services under terrible pressure – their needs are going unmet.

    Solution

This Christmas, donors would support the UK’s only free counselling services for children with disfigurements who have appearance-related mental health issues and need more help to cope. With your donations, we will expand our online advice and support services and networks for children with disfigurements; helping us be here for more children throughout this crisis and beyond.
