CUUC Annual Meeting

The Board of Trustees will call the Annual Meeting of the Congregation following the service on Sun Jun 11, 2023, for the purpose of receiving Annual Reports; voting on the Board of Trustees slate presented by the Nominating Committee; electing members to the Nominating Committee; and voting on CUUC's budget for July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024.

CUUC Members who signed the book before May 10, 2023, are eligible to vote in this annual meeting. We need a quorum of 25% of our membership in order for voting to proceed, so please make a special effort to attend. The meeting will be held in the sanctuary and online on Zoom. The annual report will be emailed shortly. Paper copies will be available in the lobby. If you need to be mailed a paper copy, please contact the office (admin@cucwp.org, 914-946-1600 x2). The Croton, NY UU congregation will be marching in NYC Pride on Sunday, June 25th and has a confirmed spot in the line up. They welcome other UUs to join them. Contact Marjie Kemper (marjiekemper@gmail.com) before June 16th to participate.

Behind Their Screens: What Teens Are Facing (and Adults Are Missing) by Emily Weinstein and Carrie James (2022)
This book is a suggestion from Sex Positive Families, offering a timely perspectives, drawn from the research and experiences of real teens of today, on topics like screentime, social media, sexting, and online porn. It is an opportunity to think about how you approach your young person related to screens and media, and it will strengthen your ability to empathize, connect, and better collaborate with them. 
 
Rainbow Squad Camp

Rainbow Squad Camp is an opportunity for LGBTQ+ youth entering grades 5-9 to learn about and discuss topics impacting the community and connect with other youth in a supportive environment. It's an exciting week filled with activiies, games, presentations and more!
Pride Camp
Jul 31-Aug 4
Pride Camp is a fun filled week for LGBTQ+ youth entering grades 9-12. Youth will learn about culture, history, media, community, and more! Make new friends, enjoy games, and discuss topics impacting the LGBTQ+ community, all in a safe and supportive environment.

1st-12th Grade RE
Future of RE & Prep for RE Sunday 6/11

10:00am in Fellowship Hall
Children and youth meet with Tracy, Charlotte, and other RE leaders to work with feedback about adapting RE and share ideas that excite them. Our young people will help shape the future of RE at CUUC!

Preparing for RE Sunday, June 11
This Sunday, we will also practice American Sign Language for Spirit of Life (practice at home with this tutorial), which we will lead June 11th for the congregation. The 4th-5th grade class will meet with Laura G and Nicholas A to work on their June 11th presentation. There are opportunities for families to participate in RE Sunday, speaking and nonspeaking roles. If your family or young person(s) would like to participate in the June 11th worship service, speak with Tracy this Sunday or email her by Monday, June 5th to sign up, cuucwptracy@gmail.com.

Celebrating Bridging
Add Notes in Their Hymnals

 
One of the gifts we give our Bridgers is a hymnal filled with words of encouragement and special memories. Please take a few minutes to write a note in the 5 Bridging hymnals that will be available in the Fireside Area Sundays through June 11th. 
Adapting RE
 
The Religious Exploration Collaboration leadership and REvision Advisory Group will meet for a visioning and planning session this Sunday. We are consulting feedback from the children and youth, self-assessment survey, family survey, and May 21st RE forum as we adapt RE to meet current family needs within the reality of available volunteers.

Join the Westchester Interfaith Youth Alliance and New Era Creative Space for an afternoon with Motivational Speaker and Civil Rights Foot Soldier Joanne Bland. She marched in Selma as a young girl. Now she strives to inspire others.

 "By the time I was 11 years old, I had been arrested 13 times. I actively participated in Bloody Sunday, marching alongside 600 or more only to get brutally beaten, tear-gassed, and hit by policemen on horses with bill clubs." -Joanne Bland

Beyond the Binary Q & A

Join us at the First Congregational church for an informational session, Q&A, and post-event reception. Westchester Youth Alliance is hosting a panel discussion and community conversation on Transgender identity in partnership with Horace Greeley High School’s Alliance for Equality, the First Congregational Church of Chappaqua, New Castle’s LGBTQ + Committee, and New Castle United for Youth.

Community Dance Party

Food Item Collection
Meal Bags for HOPE

Sat Jun 10, 1:30pm, Fellowship Hall & Kitchen
We are collecting individual serving items, such as milk and juice boxes, water, fruit cups, and soft granola bars. Our RE families and youth will use them to assemble bag lunches and breakfasts for the clients of HOPE Community Services in New Rochelle. Look for collection box in the lobby. Frozen items such as French toast, waffles, and frozen sausages (no pork), can be brought in the morning of Sat Jun 10, or as coordinated with Christine Haran (christineharan@yahoo.com).
