In this week's episode, I talk with Brita Boer '90, a K alum and human resources professional with over 10 years of HR experience and we bust common salary negotiation myths such as should you always negotiate a job offer (4:05) and what kind of benefits you can negotiate for (5:57). We also discuss whether it is better to negotiate in person or via email (10:02), whether negotiating will start you off on a bad foot with your employer (22:38), whether or not you should apply for jobs if the salary isn't listed (25:05), if you have to disclose the salary of your current job if asked (27:05) and we wrap up by talking about how long you can consider an offer before you need to respond to the employer (31:48).

This week I sit down with alum Drew Brockington '04 to talk about how he built a successful career using the skills he learned as an art and art history major. Drew now runs a successful small business as a children's book author and illustrator. During our conversation we to talk about his time at K, what he did after college, and how he eventually found his current career path and broke through and got his first book published. We also talk about a new comic book project he is working on for D.C. Comics and we also chat about Star Wars and our mutual love of The Mandalorian.
