What educators are saying

This is one of my favorite purchases from TPT! We have been using this curriculum for the entire school year - reading a chapter each week. I haven't needed to supplement anything. My students are engaged and learning a lot. The visuals are so helpful and everything is very interactive.
I love using SBL as a daily whole-group activity. The variety of materials this unit includes is FANTASTIC! The differentiation available makes it possible for all of my students to participate!

Description

This 700+ page unit includes everything you need (except the actual book) to teach Charlie & the Chocolate Factory to your special education students. This literacy unit is comprehensive and rigorous, but it’s also differentiated so you can use it with all your students. Story Based Literacy is a way to focus on comprehension that’s fun and engaging. Your students will love the different activities that are included!

Students with disabilities need to be able to access age-appropriate literature. This increases reading interest, reading skills, and the understanding of literacy components that are required by the state standards. Students with disabilities do not have the same opportunities to access literature because their reading level is well below their peers. Story Based Literacy is an excellent way to provide your students with disabilities access to state standards and grade level texts.

This Story Based Literacy unit is a detailed novel study designed for students with moderate to severe disabilities. It aligns with Common Core and Essential Elements standards. In my self-contained classroom, we do one Story Based Literacy unit per year. You will need 20-30 minutes a day for Story Based Literacy.
