UPDATE 4/5/22: As of April 4, 2022, donors to CDF’s Disaster Recovery Fund raised an additional $31,336.78 to support the immediate and ongoing needs of Ukrainian cooperators. With the generous match from Frontier Co-op along with donations from the National Co+op Grocers match, we raised $163,998.30 together.

We're thrilled to announce that HomeWorks Tri-County Electric Cooperative, headquartered in Portland, MI, has stepped up with another match. Challenging rural electric cooperatives to join this effort, HomeWorks has pledged a 100% match for all donations up to $15,000 made by 11:59 pm EDT on Saturday, April 30.

Over the past two weeks, CDF has worked with two organizations in Ukraine – COOP Ukraine and PARD – to begin distributing funds to those in most need.

COOP Ukraine is actively involved in arranging for accommodations and meals for internally displaced Ukrainians. The hostels of cooperative educational institutions and homes of cooperators, when possible, are being used to house internally displaced Ukrainians. COOP Ukraine has also joined the government’s relocation program to move businesses and enterprises from combat zones to safer regions.

PARD is currently providing support to two shelters in Vinnytsia and coordinating first aid training with the Vinnytsia Regional Center for Emergency Aid. With our support, they will be able to provide assistance to two additional shelters that are located on college campuses.

UPDATE 3/16/22: As of midnight on March 15, 2022, the cooperative community raised $53,680.76 to support the immediate and ongoing needs of Ukrainian cooperators. With the generous match from National Co+op Grocers, we raised $107,361.52 together. On behalf of Ukrainians, Дякую! Thank you!

We're thrilled to announce that Frontier Co-op has stepped up with another inspiring match. Challenging cooperatives across all sectors to join this effort, Frontier Co-op has pledged a 100 percent match for all donations up to $25,000 made by 11:59 pm EDT on Thursday, March 31, 2022.

As previously mentioned, we are coordinating with the Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions to send $10,000 of donations to support PARD's efforts to provide immediate food and shelter for displaced Ukrainians. The remainder of the funds raised will go directly to support COOP Ukraine, which includes 15,000 enterprises, 3,000 restaurants, seven hotels, 300 manufacturing businesses and shops, and 300 markets throughout Ukraine.

UPDATE 3/14/22: In coordination with the Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions, CDF will send a percentage of donations to the Podilska Regional Development Agency (PARD), a local non-governmental agency providing humanitarian relief to displaced Ukrainians. In their work with credit unions in Ukraine and throughout the region, the Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions identified and vetted PARD as the best conduit for immediate humanitarian relief. CDF will reserve the remaining percentage of donations for ongoing needs identified by cooperatives in Ukraine. NCG has pledged a 100 percent match for all donations up to $100,000 made by 11:59 pm EDT on Tuesday, March 15, 2022.

Ukraine's cooperative businesses and members are at risk as Russia's invasion of the country enters week two. The country's consumer cooperatives are working to maintain operations so member-owners can continue to rely on co-op goods and services. The cooperative community in the U.S. has a longstanding tradition of helping in times of need. A contribution to the Cooperative Development Foundation's Disaster Recovery Fund assists cooperatives, families and communities when they are most in need of help. In the last four years, the Disaster Recovery Fund has provided nearly $500,000 in grants to cooperatives, families and communities affected by disasters in the United States, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas and Uganda.

Your donation today can help CDF provide Ukrainian cooperatives with immediate and ongoing aid through CDF's Disaster Recovery Fund. National Co+op Grocers (NCG) has pledged a 100% match for all donations up to $100,000 made by the food co-op retail system.

100% of money donated to the Disaster Recovery Fund will go to support cooperatives. CDF does not charge an administrative fee for management of the Fund.
