Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1854, to July 1, 1860, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to

Bvt. Second Lieut. of Cavalry, July 1, 1860.

Served: at the Cavalry School for Practice, Carlisle, Pa., 1860; and on

(Second Lieut., 1st Cavalry, Oct. 30, 1860)

frontier duty at Ft. Arbuckle, I. T., 1861, — and Ft. Washita, I. T., 1861.

Resigned, Mar. 21, 1861.

Joined in the Rebellion of 1861‑66 against the United States.​b

Civil History. — Planter, near Florence, Ala., 1866‑71. Civil Engineer in the service of the United States, 1871‑73.

Died Oct. 21, 1873, at Florence, Ala.: Aged 37.

Buried, Burtwell Cemetery, Florence, AL.

b As with other Confederate officers, Cullum's Register omits his war record: according to the Southern Historical Society Papers his highest rank during the war was as Colonel, commanding the 11th Alabama Cavalry, Roddey's Brigade, District of Northern Alabama.
