This is the online application form for refunds requests. Please ensure you have read and understood our policies on refund for the respective services before completing this form. Kindly contact the Customer Services Team for clarity on refunds and the process if in doubt.

From 01 November 2021 all Standard IELTS (Paper and Computer) refund requests should be requested via the Test taker Portal link accessible here.

IELTS REFUND

Candidates who seek to cancel their registration within the five-week period prior to the test date can only do so if they can prove they have been affected by serious causes, including:

  • illness – e.g. hospital admission, serious injury or illness (does not include minor illness such as a mild cold)
  • loss or bereavement – death of a close family member
  • hardship/trauma – victim of crime, victim of a traffic accident
  • Military service

We will need to receive your request with supporting evidence.

If your application is approved, the test centre will refund your test fee. However, the test centre will deduct an administrative fee.

The British Council has the right to retain the whole fee if requested less than five weeks to the test.

Please note that refunds can take four to six weeks to process.

OTHER REFUNDS

  • Enquiry on results (Remark) Refund: Take note that you will receive a full refund only if your result is changed to a higher band score after the re-marking.
  • Schools/Cambridge (CAIE) Refund 
  • Professional & Institutional Refund
