Dear Friend of Alliance Care Now (formerly OCE),

From its humble beginning as a single pilot program within the orphanages in Addis, ACN has now blossomed into a national 7 community-based program platform serving more than 5 million vulnerable children and families throughout the entire country of Ethiopia. This incredible scale up plan was formally announced last week with the ACN leadership team signing a 3-way agreement with the Ministry of Women/Social Affairs and the Agency for Civil Society to launch all 7 community-based strategic programs over the next five years. With this strategic new development and formal agreement, five million local volunteers will be mobilized nationwide to support and carry out the launch of these seven ACN programs, aimed at changing the very fabric of society in Ethiopia. This level of community-based volunteerism enhances the generous culture of the nation and will result in change that will impact generations to come.  

During this visit, the ACN team was further encouraged to be included at a conference held at the legendary African Union Hall in Addis, with the focus of "Social Protection for Nation Building". It was a joy to behold to see the ACN pilot programs and the success experienced over the past five years showcased as Ethiopia's experience and solution for change.
