Charleston Coyotes Hockey #4

Fooling the Forward

Rate this book
Ryder Goode has been my celebrity crush since he signed on with the Charleston Coyotes. Watching him race around the ice has become a favorite pastime of mine.

Despite him being one of my brother’s teammates, we’ve never met. At least not until he cashes in on the prize he won in a charity auction—one weekend with me as his personal chef.

During those two days, every preconceived notion I have about him gets annihilated, leaving me wanting to learn more about the kind and generous man.

So when he asks me to stay on as his full-time chef, I accept. And when the two of us can’t keep our hands off each other, I warn him I’ll never fall for him.

Even though it’s too late—I already have.

Although I might be trying to fool the forward, it turns out, I’m only fooling myself.

I fall more and more in love with this series with each installment! Ryder and Calista were just fun and heartwarming to read. I have been so excited to see what Jacob would “cook up” for Ryder’s book since we first met his character and he did not disappoint!

I love how sassy, fun and independent chef Calista gave cocky, playboy Ryder a run for his money. They had so much chemistry and yumminess…I was hooked literally from page one. I also love that you see a lot of familiar faces from previous stories… that’s always fun. Definitely recommend this read.

Hey Goode cooking!

When Ryder Goode bids on a personal chef for the weekend he gets Calista, his team mate Darius sister. There is an attraction between them and the more time they spend together the stronger it becomes. Trying to keep it quiet, they steal moments where they can. What happens when Darius finds out? Will his warning to his team mates to stay away from his sister cause a rift? Will his own love story help him see theirs?
This was a true love story, with chemistry, good food and characters you fall in love with as they fall in love with each other!

4 Star review Fooling the Forward (Charleston Coyotes Hockey # 4) by Jacob Chance

This was an entertaining addition to the Charleston Coyotes Hockey series. This is goaltender Murphy and Wendy’s story and it was fun and flirty. Murphy doesn’t take life seriously and it shows.

Wendy is not afraid to stand up for or go after what she wants, she is focused and driven, totally the opposite of Murphy. However, from the moment she met Murphy she was attracted to him. Imagine Wendy’s shock when her one night stand turns out to be her new client.

The chemistry between them is intense, their banter witty and I the camaraderie between the players of the Coyotes team was truly entertaining.

I felt absolute pure happiness while reading this book. It was so enjoyable and engaging that I couldn’t put it down. Ryder and Calista were amazing together. The instant chemistry between them was so good. I loved the sexual tension between them. It made everything so worth it when they finally gave in to their feelings for each other. I also loved how she got to see the Ryder no one else sees. I love that he’s so much more than what others perceive him to be. 10/10

I’m definitely adding Jacobs other books to my TBR!

Just when I think Jacob couldn’t get any better, he gives us another amazing read with book 4 of the Charleston Coyotes Hockey series. Ryder is the playboy hockey star who hasn’t had a real relationship, never finding the one person meant just for him, until he meets Calista, his teammates sister. Calista is determined, independent, fun and fiesty, which is what growing up with 3 brothers will do to you. I loved this couple! Full of chemistry, heat and lots of humour, Fooling the Forward is a definite must read.

need more of these Charleston Coyotes

Jacob’s hockey guys are just perfect. Ryder and Calista’s story was steamy and romantic. Ryder was set up in the previous books as a hot as sin player and hot yes! Turns out not the player everyone believed. He showed Calista is true heart and she instantly fell for it. More hockey please, especially these Charleston Coyotes

Fooling the Forward is a fun, fast-paced read. Ryder Goode (giggles) and Calista have great chemistry and both seem to know what they want in life, and I would say more mature than his other team mates. Which was surprising. I really enjoyed their story.

Jacob Chance never disappoints

This book was so good. I had been waiting for it since Ryder won her cooking a few books ago. I loved how Darius reacted to finding out about Ryder and Calista. He was just trying to be a protective brother. That was my favorite scene by far.

Review: 4.5/5 ⭐️
Steam: 2/5 🔥

I love these two. Each book in this series keeps getting better. Ryder was a playboy who never found the person for him. He holds himself back not allowing anyone to see his softer side. Enter Calista, this bad ass chef knocked him on his butt. She’s funny, feisty, smart and determined. She wants to be the best regardless of making a simple breakfast or meal plans that work for athletes. He bid on and won her cooking for a weekend but with one taste is determined to keep her around for more than her culinary intelligence.

You see a lot of familiar faces in this book and I’m all about it. The boys have the best friend group. Ryder and Calista wouldn’t be able to avoid each other long. The team dynamic is like a family, bringing competition, fun and care. Calista gets along with all the girls but her best friend is her rock. They have fun and would do just about anything for each other.

Loved it all. Hope to see more with this friend gang!

Another enjoyable read from the Coyote hockey team series. Ryder and Callista were great characters..
Ryder wins a prize to have chef Callista cook for a weekend. Lines become blurred as their attraction takes hold..There's obstacles in the way of them having any kind of relationship and it was great to see how they would overcome it.
Wonderful, lighthearted read for pure escapism.

Another smashing hit

Calista and Ryder were everything I love about romance novels. I loved Ryder in the other books and my love for him just grew. He was not the playboy that I was expecting, no, he was a gentleman in wolf clothing. I liked how Calista was a confident woman and wasn't afraid to accept love. These two are older more mature characters that weren't into games and I loved that about them. This series just keeps getting better and I would love to see another book or two in this series.

Ah Ryder, the lone wolf has finally fallen in love! And, it just had to be with his teammate and friend Darius’s, sister Calista…geez! She’s also been crushing on him for a while and I’m glad they finally hooked up.

Fooling The Forward is so much fun and Ryder and Calista are just so good together. And who knew that Ryder could have such a tender and sweet side to him. My heart is so happy that Jacob Chance gave Ryder the book he deserved.

We are back in Coyote country, it’s Ryder’s turn for love, and I am here for it! Jacob has written an insta-love, brother’s teammate story with his own flair that I simply love. This is just a steamy story with two people not afraid to give love a try.

There isn’t any drama, or that dreaded third act break-up, this is just a fun read that’s perfect for an afternoon curled up with a blanket and a cup of your favorite beverage.

Listen, there are hockey romances everywhere nowadays, but I know that when I pick up one of Jacob’s books, I’m going to enjoy every word he writes. He writes funny characters with real, honest emotions and who wouldn’t want to read that? This is a series of standalones, and you don’t have to read them all, but I will be honest you will be missing out if you don’t!

I have read a few books by this author and I have enjoyed every single one of them. I can now add this book to the ever growing list as well.
Ryder & Calista’s book was a relatively quick read for me and has little to no angst in it. Honestly I do really like angst in my romance novels, but whenever I read a book like this one it ends up being like a pleasant surprise.
I really liked how these two came to be in each other’s lives. It’s not a storyline that I have read too many times before and it really drew me in right away. With the lack of angst in the story, these two just went from strength to strength.
Another great part about this book were the secondary characters. They all added to the book to make it as wonderful as it ended up being.
Looking forward to reading the next book released by Jacob
