Event Timing: March 10th, 5 - 6:30PM via Zoom
Every few years there are initiatives and referendum votes to ban animal experiments in Switzerland. Some are more radical than others, but all have the same goal: to end the mass killing of animals for the benefit of science. By now, even the most stubborn defenders of scientific freedom adhere to the restrictions of the 3R principles REPLACE, REDUCE and REFINE. But is it possible to do science and develop the therapies of tomorrow without any animal experiments? Are we ready to move forward?
Keynote kickoff by Dr. Judith de Haan (Program manager for Open Science, Universiteit Utrecht)
Panel discussion with:
Dr. med vet Philippe Bugnon (Veterinarian in Laboratory Animal Science, UZH)
Dr. Paulin Jirkoff (3R coordinator, UZH)
Dr. Giovanna Brancati (PostDoc in organoid technology, ETH departement in Basel)
