Taylor Peterson is hoping for a fresh start. With her best friend, Sophia, and the rest of their little gang by her side, she’s confident she can shake off the problems that haunted her last semester and move forward. The only thing standing in her way of total happiness is an inconvenient new crush.
Ransom Holt has had to work hard for everything he has. With enough family drama to inspire a soap opera, he’s thankful to have met new friends he can count on. Now if he could only convince Taylor she can count on him back, life would be perfect.
The more they get to know each other, the deeper this unlikely pair falls. But Ransom doesn’t know everything, and when Taylor’s past comes calling, they’ll only have each other to depend on.
Elizabeth Hayley is actually “Elizabeth” and “Hayley,” two friends who love reading romance novels to obsessive levels. This mutual love prompted them to put their English degrees to good use by penning their own. They learned a ton about each other through the process, like how they clearly share a brain and have a persistent need to text each other constantly. They live with their husbands and kids in a Philadelphia suburb. Thankfully, their children are still too young to read.

This is my first read by Miss Hayley. I like it very much. Her writing style is different and unique. It is sassy, quirky and yet fun. She can combine a good suspense and romance into a good story. The story of Taylor and Ransom is so adorable cute. I like reading how they fall in love with each other.
The plot is easy to follow. The audio book is short. It is about 7 hours long. But it is packed with everything that needed the story to grow. The book ends in cliffhanger. I think there is 2 books for each couple. I like it very much.
I must start by saying that I just love the writing style of Elizabeth Haley. This duo always pulls me in and keeps me so entertained. Taylor Peterson is running from a past and who better to land with than her best friend Sophia. She is certainly not looking for a relationship but she certainly could use a great group of friends. Ransom Holt is a man with a heart of gold that comes from a difficult past. He sees Taylor and knows that he will need to start them off as friends but he certainly wants so much more. Get ready to laugh, enjoy wonderfully witty banter and be thoroughly entertained by this wonderful cast of characters! ~~Michele McMullen ~~
Words...yeah I should probably put those together to help describe this book but.....WOW. While it is book 4 in the series, I feel you could honestly pick up this book without reading the 3 prior. The author gives enough detail to catch you up on everyone else, but this story is focused in Taylor and Ransom.
Ransom has a past that nobody knows about and to have the heart he does, it only breaks your heart more to know what he's been through. Taylor is going through something that makes your blood boil. The fact she is trying to "deal" with it on her own only makes the anger worse. However, when these two finally release everything that they are dealing with...oh the fireworks. This is definitely one of my favorites so far, but I'm sure I've said that about each book! And the ending.... oh dear I'm not sure how I'm going to wait for book 5 with that cliffhanger.
Five out five stars for this read. The author surely knows how to draw you in and keep you there. Living right there with them both. Laughing, scared, panicked and angry.... I literally felt like I was a ghost in their lives watching it unfold. GREAT book.
When you find someone who makes you laugh, smile, want and feel, hang on tight to them...
Taylor Peterson was trying to escape her past and decided to move close to her BFF Sophia and their tight knit social circle. She felt safe and comfortable there. But Taylor soon realizes that it is not as easy as she first thought.
Ransom Holt had a rough start in life but tries not to dwell too much on the past. He is drawn to Taylor but knows he needs to tread lightly. Taylor and Ransom tiptoe through their new found feelings for each other, but can't fight the pull of their attraction to each other. Their story has a lot of drama, and you just know there is more coming on the horizon.
Ransom and Taylor are acquaintances via mutual friends, and each is mildly attracted to the other but have yet to make a move.
Taylor Peterson is taking a break from men. Actually, she’s hiding from a stalker and only her best friend Sophia knows this, but even Sophia doesn’t know the full story. Taylor is also stepping out on her own for the first time. With her father not happy with the decision she’s made in how to finish her degree, she’s not responsible for completely supporting herself financially. She’s managed to secure a place to live but needs additional employment. The last person she expected to come to her rescue was Ransom. Working closely with Ransom, has given Taylor an opportunity to see him in a completely different light.
Ransom Holt has lived a rough life. His mom was an addict, and as a kid he was bounced around throughout the foster care system. He’s never really had anyone have his back before, until he was sent to his final foster home with The Holt’s. The more time he spends with Taylor the more he realizes why she keeps people at a distance. Just like Taylor, Ransom has secrets of his own. He’s suffered heartbreak in the past, now he has to decide if Taylor is worth the risk
I liked Ransom a lot, for someone who’s been through what he’s been through, he has a pretty positive outlook on life. He also has a heart of gold and it’s huge. There were so many moments in this book that tugged at my heart for him. I was not a fan of Taylor at all. Every time I decided I really hated her; she would do something that had me thinking she wasn’t so bad. Every time she did something that had me thinking she wasn’t so bad; she’d do something to make me hate her. Dealing with her was rollercoaster. I especially was not a fan of how she treated Ransom. Even after he was repeatedly there for her, she still treated him like he was an airhead. I understand her hesitancy towards relationships after her recent bad breakup and dealing with her stalker, but she just took it to far at times. Thankfully the story was told from duel PoV and not just Taylor’s, otherwise we’d totally miss the greatness of Ransom. Although, I will admit, the way his PoV was written, he did sometimes make himself seem a little less than intelligent (I kept picturing Kevin, from Shameless).
This was a quick read, and overall was pretty good. The pace was a little off to me at times, but for the most part I enjoyed it. This is the fourth book in a series. While you can probably read this without the three previous books, I’d suggest reading them. All of the characters from the previous books are mentioned and their backgrounds are given but to me, you understand them better if you’ve read the other books. Spoiler Alert….this book ends with a cliffhanger. If you’re not a fan of cliffhangers, I suggest waiting until book number five, “Let’s Not Say We Did”, is released.
Ready or Not is a captivating romance by an amazing duo, Elizabeth Hayley! This series just continues to get better and better.
Taylor Peterson is looking for a fresh start. She has been through it and wants to prove to her family and herself that she can survive on her own. So, she decides to continue her college courses online and live near her friends that have quickly turned into family.
Ransom Holt is the sexy, mysterious man who is new to the friend group. He has a heartbreaking past and rarely opens up to anyone about it. He is finding his way among his friends and job and for the first time in a long time, he can say that he is content.
Taylor and Ransom don't know each other too well and she has always pushed him away because deep down she knows that he is someone that she could easily fall for. But when Ransom helps her with a new job at Safe Haven. It's a program for kids that allows them to participate and interact with others while they wait for their parents. This place is so good for both of them. They not only get to know each other better but every interaction with a child helps their heart heal a little bit more.
I loved Ransom and Taylor's story. They both have a few secrets that will surprise you and make you root for them more. Elizabeth Hayley broke my heart and continuously pieced it back together. It was great to see two broken characters find their way and happiness. Of course, this writing duo added their signature humor and sarcasm that helped ease the pain and it was the perfect combination.
I give Ready or Not 5 stars. I swear I say this after I read each book in this series, but this book was my favorite. I swooned, I shed a few tears, and I was left wanting more especially after that cliffhanger. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
Taylor moved to escape a stalker. Unfortunately he has found her again. On the plus side, she has her best friend, Sophia, and Sophia’s friends too. Ransom, one of the friends, helps her get a job and would like to be more than friends. Opinion This book is the fourth in a series that is best read in order. You will find yourself laughing and crying at different points in this book. Elizabeth Hayley have a great style that will bring out the feels in you. Altogether, the book has a nice flow with a group of characters I’d love to be friends with in real life. Many thanks to Net Galley and Waterhouse Press for providing me with an ARC of this book.
Taylor and Ransom met when Brody brought him to the apartments. Taylor is trying to deal with her past while Ransom has his own things going on. They are friends who eventually work together when Ransom puts in a good word for Taylor. You can see the friendship grow between these two as they spend time together.
First off be prepared to laugh out loud when you read a book by Elizabeth Haley, Ready or Not does not disappoint in that fashion. Ah you get great bantering, fantastic friendships, throw in a stalker and you get a great comedy that will literally have you laughing out loud. I have loved this whole series and they just keep getting better.
Ready or Not, book 4 in the love games series I think is my new favorite. Taylor wasn’t looking for a relationship but that didn’t stop Ransom. They both have secrets from their past but they start building a beautiful friendship that turns into more. Everybody needs a guy like Ransom. The ending left me with much to desire. I absolutely can’t wait until the next book comes out 💙
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review, thank you.
This is Taylor and Ransom’s story. Oh my goodness! This is probably my favorite one so far. The banter back and forth is SO great! I loved the drama, the ups and downs, the heartbreak. Elizabeth Hayley always brings their “A” game and this book is no different. Another wonderful read!
A wonderful addition to The Love Game series! Ready or Not is a book you won't be able to put down until the very end, and even then you'll want to binge-read the series all over again. Elizabeth Hayley is an amazing writing duo that knows just how to draw the reader in with entertaining characters, and just a hint of suspense. You'll definitely be coming back for more!
Taylor is facing some difficulty both when it comes to her past and her family but the one thing that she does have going for her is the great group of friends she has surrounded herself with. When she needed help she didn’t think that Ransom would be the one to step up to the plate and she begins to realize that there is much more to the man than she believed.
Ramson learnt from a young age that the only person he could count on was himself but rather than closing himself off he has chosen to help those who need it the most. The more time that he and Taylor spend together the closer they become but will they be able to trust each other with their hearts and their past?
I enjoyed seeing the relationship between Taylor and Ramson unfold and after the cliffhanger I am looking forward to seeing where their story goes.
I loved this book. The other books in this series I have also enjoyed but this one so far has been my favorite. I related to this story from my own personal experiences is probably why I liked it so much. The not not wanting to take help from anyone and the lack of trust in men and what they really want. This book in the series still has the funny back and forth banter between characters that is hilarious. And I love that no matter who the books main characters are that the lives of the other characters are still being kept up with. This book is flirty and fun.
Ransom and Taylor have known each other for a short period of time and are a part of the same friend group. Stolen glances by each and the constant witty comebacks during conversations have each wondering if there might be something more.
Taylor has decided to finish school remotely hoping that distance from campus will put her at ease and give her as much separation from the last year as she needs to feel safe. Convincing her father that this is the best option was not the easiest. Without his support, now completely on her own, Taylor finds an apartment and several part-time jobs with the help of some friends. One of the friends that helps her is Ransom. Now the two are working together on a daily basis and getting to know one another better.
Ransom is in graduate school and works at Safe Haven an after school program which he absolutely loves. While Ransom works with the kids in the program Taylor begins to see the sweet protective side of Ransom. With a past he has kept hidden from his friend group he finds himself confiding in Talyor. Looking forward to a future that is not filled with secrets he wonders if Taylor can understand the choices he has made.
Ransom and Talyor have a developed friendship that leads to something more. Supportive of each other and in tune with their feelings they have a real chance of love outlasting any problem they face.
Ready or Not is the 4th book in the series The Love Game Book. A sweet read with some anxiety producing moments that have the reader hoping for the happily ever after.
Ready or Not...it just keeps getting better! I love the new spin with book 4 of the Love Game series. We are now following Taylor, Sophia's best friend, on her journey and learning of her story. While we met her in previous books, this takes a deeper dive into her history and why she is where she is now. We also get to know handsome ex-football player Ransom Holt on a new level. He was new to the crew but quickly welcomed in. He has a past but using it to better his future.
Throughout this book we see how Taylor and Ransom become intertwined and develop a friendship. Through the ups and downs he is always there for her. The best part is we still get check ins with all the other characters from the previous 3 books!
This book touches on many different subjects leaving the reader wanting more. BUT it's the cliffhanger at the end that made me want to keep turning the page even when it was over.
I highly recommend this book and this series. I look forward to seeing where the story of Taylor and Ransom goes next.
Taylor and Ransom met through Brody and these two started as friends but before too long could tell that they wanted to be more. Taylor has a lot going on from her past, she has a stalker and Ransom wants to help her, but Taylor doesn't want that, she doesn't want him knowing what is really going on.
Ransom has secrets that he wants to keep hidden, he fears the truth will come out and his friends will judge him for it.
The connection between these two grows as they continue to spend time together and get to know each other more. The friendship grows and the chemistry between these two heightens and their friendship begins to turn into so much more.
I could not put this down. I must say that this book is probably my favorite out of the series, so far anyway! As always, the authors deliver an amazing, funny and addictive book in an already amazing series! I cannot wait for book five!
I can’t say enough about how much I love the storyline in this The Love Game Series!! Ready or Not is book 4 of the series and follows a group of friends in college together! I love that nothing in their world is certain, as they are trying to not only find themselves, but their place in the world and how the relationships they’re making fit into that world!! This books focuses on Taylor and Ransom - yes, that is the boys name - and yes, it’s even joked about in the book!! LOL Taylor is scared and determined not to let anyone close to her romantically since her last relationship hasn’t ended well and now the man is stalking her. To scared to involve her friends, she tries to handle it on her own. Ransom tries to help, but all it gets him is her ire!! Can Ransom and Taylor find their own happiness together, or will a crazy man end it before it really even gets started? You’ll have to read it like I did to find out!! LOL And trust me when I say, it’s so worth it!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wow, what a cliffhanger. If I'm honest it took me a while to get into this book but I am glad I persevered. I loved the first 3 books of this series and this one is no different.
This one is about Taylor, Sophia's best friend, and Ransom, the new guy to the group. They both have a lot of baggage and their past is something else. But they say the past can make you stronger.
I don't want to give too much away as the story is best experienced first read through. I loved these characters and can't wait to see what happens in the next book.
Highly recommend this book and series, would recommend starting with book one to get more understanding. Highly recommend both of the amazing authors.
I absolutely loved this book!! Ready or Not is the fourth book in Elizabeth Hayley's The Love Game Series. It is the first book that focuses on Taylor and Ransom, but you could dive right into this book before having read the three previous books first. Taylor and Ransom both have issues from their pasts that they are dealing with alone. Throughout this book, we see them open up to one another and watch their friendship strengthen and develop into something more that never of them can deny. This has been my favorite book of this series so far. It does end on a doozy of cliffhanger and I can't wait to see what happens next!!
You can read this as a standalone which i appreciated. Ransom name i found weird but I think its original. Ransom is so sweet, helpful and loving to all. Eventhough he had a rough life for a young adult.
Taylor has some bad baggage that has built a wall for her between dating someone new. She is definitely intrigued by Ransom. He broke her wall down which had her a bit nervous. The last time she let anyone in was a big mistake.
I couldn't put it down. I did find myself wanting something more so I will give this book 4.5 stars. There is a tiny cliffhanger which makes me want to know what happens next. I hope to know more about all characters especially why is Cindy mom such a flake.
Elizabeth Haley do it again! They are the masters at snark and banter between two characters and I absolutely love it! As always this ends on a cliffhanger so I am left wanting the next installment already! The two characters Taylor and Ransom have chemistry for days. Both with broken past and current situations you find them taking their time to really get past all of that and take a chance on each other! When they finally give in its like a deep breath of fresh air and feels like a meant to be moment! The Love Game series is shaping up to be one of my most favorite romcom series that I’ve read! I am very much looking forward to the next books! If you haven’t started this series you must! This and the first three will be fantastic beach or poolside reads this summer!
Ransom and Taylor! Just wow! They are hot and just everything you want in a couple. Of course it didn’t start that way because they both had reasons from their past that made them unsure of one another but in the end let’s just say that feelings get in the way and this couple will leave you happy and satisfied.
Everything that I would have expected in an Elizabeth Hayley Book! It gives you all the angst and all the feels! 😍
The Love Game just keeps getting better. Getting further into this group of friends has been wonderful. Taylor's been having a rough year and trying to find her safe ground she ends up finding herself spending more time with Ransom. And the more time they end up together they both find they can't ignore what their minds and hearts keep telling them.
This is about Taylor and Ransom. You meet them both in the previous books but this is the beginning of their story and wow what a beginning. I have never went through what Taylor has thankfully but man would that be so scary. I am so glad that Ransom saw past everything and knew that Taylor needed him even if she wouldn't admit it. Their story is slow but well worth the read!
Wow - What another great book by Elizabeth Hayley! I really enjoyed reading Taylor and Ransom’s story. As usual, the witty banter between all characters always gets me. I received an ARC of this book and I just couldn't put it down! This does end in a cliffhanger so of course it has left me longing for more. I cannot wait for the 5th installment of this series!
I had high hopes for this one and I think romance book lovers will love this one, but I’ve read a ton of romance books and Ready or Not wasn’t it for me. Thank you to social butterfly pr and the publisher for a copy of this book!
I loved Taylor and Ransom's story. The dynamic between them is phenomenal and something everybody needs to read. Their story is an enemy to lower story. It never goes the expected route but it does make your heart full. The ending will leave you speechless and wanting more.
