What do you do if your emotions are affecting your decision-making as a senior stakeholder?
Writing down what the situation at hand is, as if we were an observer (in the third person, for example) can help separate the facts from emotions and provide clarity on what matters most to move forward. In the same way, reflecting on how we feel (starting sentences with “I feel”) is also helpful to get those feelings and thoughts out, and gain clarity.

You're feeling overwhelmed at work. How can you take control of your stress levels?
In the words of David Allen ''Your mind is for having ideas, not for holding them.''. Braindump! Let it all out. The tasks, the thoughts, the grocery items you don't want to forget. A cluttered mind will get overwhelmed much more easily.

You're feeling overwhelmed at work. How can you take control of your stress levels?
Remember that self-care may look differently for you at different stages of your life ...or week. Avoid putting your self-care in a box, or having a go-to that doesn't cut it anymore. Listen to your body for what it needs, be flexible with yourself, and practice accepting every part of you (the good, the bad, and the ugly....we all have them! That's called being human!)

You're feeling overwhelmed at work. How can you take control of your stress levels?
One thing I have found helpful is to frequently reflect on 'what is my highest point of contribution in your role?' Especially as leaders, we tend to focus on medium-low value tasks (that often appear as urgent) because they are visible, and let go of what is high value (and often less urgent). Regularly reflecting on - Where do I add the MOST value? What area of focus yields the highest impact? - will help you identify what can be delegated, delayed or eliminated.
