Learn the art of letterpress printing and get inky with wood type and printing blocks from Baltimore’s iconic Globe Poster Printing Corp. For decades bold wood type and DayGlo colors shouted the names of music and entertainment greats in Baltimore and beyond. In 2011 the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) acquired this vibrant collection and keeps its legacy alive as a working press, a teaching tool, and a source for research. Live at the BMI participants will learn a brief history of Globe and get hands on with this historic collection to make a print of their own.
Workshop suitable for ages 10+. Registration includes all materials and museum admission (open 10:30 AM-3 PM).
