He's a legend in the raking . . .

The Last Crimes of Peregrine Hind - Sierra Simone

Peregrine Hind, known to all as the bloodiest highwayman ever to bedevil the road, seeks only one thing—revenge against the Dartham family. And so when a robbery sends the second Dartham son and notorious rakehell Alexander Dartham tumbling to Peregrine’s feet, it seems like fate has given Peregrine his vengeance at last. Except then Alexander offers him a desperate bargain: to kidnap him instead, so Peregrine can harvest a generous ransom from Alexander’s family first. Peregrine agrees, but he’s in no way prepared for a captive like Alexander, who insists only on the softest beds and the finest wines…and who enjoys being tied up a little too much…

Two Rakes for Mrs. Sparkwell - Eva Leigh

The last thing Mrs. Vivian Sparkwell wants is to tie her life to another stifling husband. But thanks to the surprise terms of her last marriage contract, if she refuses any reasonable offer to wed again, she loses her widow’s portion. What she needs is a thorough and public ruining to make her would-be suitors cry off. Who better to provide the necessary scandal than notorious rake Rushton Cantley? Yet when Rush proposes that his friend, gaming hell bruiser Jack Morgan, join in on the ruination, Vivian can’t decide if she’s shocked—or aroused. How far is too far when infamy is on the line?

A Rake, His Patron, & Their Muse - Nicola Davidson

London playwright and notorious rake Lennox Townsend is renowned for bold melodrama and bolder pleasures. When he loses interest in both, his shy yet devoted patron Lord Jonathan Grant escorts him to a country boarding house managed by repressed widow, Mrs. Viola Prescott. The trio soon surrender to sizzling—and forbidden—passion, made sweeter as each share their deepest secrets and find acceptance of their true self. Yet cold reality is ever ready to intrude, and they know happiness is fleeting. Or is it?

Monsieur X - Adriana Herrera

Joseph Cantor Marshall never imagined reaching the pinnacle of artistic success would be so… uninspiring. Desperate for a spark of excitement he attends the notorious masked soirée at the most exclusive sex club in Paris. The moment he walks in he’s entranced by the mysterious X, the embodiment of the painter’s darkest fantasies. But X is as slippery as he is tempting, and soon Marshall’s days and nights are consumed by growing desire for his elusive lover. Will falling for X prove to be Marshall’s undoing or his greatest masterpiece?

Sold to the Duke - Joanna Shupe

Though she once lived a life of privilege, Lady Eliza is now destitute and desperate to care for her ill sister. She decides to sell the one thing of value she has left: her virginity. At the auction, a shocked Duke of Blackwood recognizes Eliza and refuses to allow her to fall into the clutches of a depraved bidder. But his role of noble rescuer is upended when the proud beauty insists on giving him his money’s worth…

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️.5/5

Note: This book is an anthology and my review and rating are only for book one. I may read some of the other stories in the future and adjust the rating. There is another m/m included and what looks to be one or two m/m/f’s but they may be m/f/m. I can’t tell from the descriptions so I’ll have to check them out to see. Not really interested if they are m/f/m. Also this is currently only 99 cents! So I still consider it worth my money. I’m cheap. 😁🤣

Edit: I tried Monsieur X by Adriana Herrera. This was a new to me author. I was enjoying the writing style and liked that it was going to be BDSM at a Masquerade type place. Unfortunately, I didn't know it had Daddy kink in it so I noped out of it quickly once that popped up. Just not my thing. But if you do like that, you might enjoy this one!

Sierra Simone serves up some historical romance and it was delightful! Where in history did this take place? I don’t know. It felt regency but then there was talk of a hat looking like it was from the Civil War. But then we were in England. Was there a Civil War in England? 🤔 I’m not good with history. Also it seemed to take place in kind of an alternative history where being gay wasn’t illegal. So who knows really. 🙃 If you read this, you’ll just have to go with the flow. 😂

I love Sierra’s m/m content. But I was disappointed with her last one so I was kind of nervous to read this. But I really liked it. Yay!

Highwayman Peregrine means to capture and kill the Duke that destroyed his family. But to his surprise, the man in the carriage is the Duke’s younger brother Sandy/Alexander. Unable to flat out kill him, he decides to hold him for ransom and then kill him later. Things do not go as planned…

✅ The dynamics. It’s a little bit of insta-lust but I didn’t mind due to the length. Things get off track quickly for poor Peregrine when he discovers Sandy is turned on by being tied up. 🤣 And Sandy sets off to seduce Peregrine so he can escape. It was all very entertaining.
✅ The humor. It wasn’t humor filled but due to the dynamics I talked about above, there were some funny moments. Sandy was incorrigible and I loved him!
✅ The steam was just right and pretty darn hot. 🔥
✅ I just really loved both characters. I could have read about them for much longer.

This was an unexpected win for me! I bought it thinking, hey it’s only 99 cents. But then I found myself totally smitten with these two. It wasn’t too heavy but also not all sunshine. Just the right mix. 🥰

Get ready for a hefty anthology (5 novellas yassss) that's exactly what you think it's gonna be: erotic historicals please and thank you. It was just what we wanted to read during the most wonderful time of the year.

Sierra Simone - The Last Crimes of Peregrine Hind
MM with a little bondage - here we have a highwayman out for revenge. Unfortunately he kidnapped the wrong brother... or did he?

Eva Leigh - Two Rakes for Mrs. Sparkwell
MFM - Mrs. Sparkwell wants to ruin her reputation so she can stay unwed - cause her annoying husband's will lets her stepson marry her off to whoever he wants. Well if no one wants her, she solves that problem, right? But instead two hotties want her. (Probably our favorite of the collection!)

Nicola Davidson - A Rake, His Patron, & Their Muse
MMF - as the title says, we have a playwright, his aristocratic patron, and an older widow they meet while on a "writing retreat." Anything for a little inspiration, amirite?

Adriana Herrera - Monsieur X
MM in a sex club - secret identities can be great, until you want to actually get to know the other party. What happens when you do?

Joanna Shupe - Sold to the Duke
MF virginity auction - and she really wants to EARN that money! We though this was going to be a playful take on the trope, but it got a little dark there for a minute. Still super sexy though!

This objective review is based on a complimentary advanced copy of the book.

So if you loved Duke I’d Like to F… from these fabulous authors last year, just buckle up because Rake I’d Like to F… holy heat! 🥵🔥 This historical romance anthology showed up and was just such a treat right on time for the holiday season. The authors cranked up the heat and delivered all the goodness I wanted…the collection features two MM stories, a MFM, a MMF, and a MF.

🔥The Last Crimes of Peregrine Hind by Sierra Simone, it’s 1710 and Peregrine Hind is an infamous highwayman who has terrorized the roads for the past 4 years after returning from war. Seeking vengeance for his family, Peregrine wants to destroy the Dartham family by getting rid of the Duke. He sets upon a carriage one night expecting the Duke but gets his rakehell younger brother, Alexander “Sandy”, instead. Sandy enjoys being tied up and flirts endlessly with his hot captor, Peregrine. This mm, highwayman, captor/captive romance was such a fun time!

🔥Two Rakes for Mrs. Sparkwell by Eva Leigh takes place in 1767. Mrs. Vivian Sparkwell has just come out of her year of mourning and finds out her father and late husband had a proviso to ensure she remarried after his passing to any reasonable offer of marriage. Vivian is tired of the men in her life having a say in her future. She ventures to a gaming hell and finds Rushton Cantley, a viscount’s second son who has the reputation of being London’s most notorious rake, and requests he ruin her. Along the way she meets Jack Morgan, the Welsh gaming hell enforcer, and is intrigued when Rush informs her he and Jack share women. This MFM was so hot…we get some exhibitionism, voyeurism, one of the heroes is a boxer, and both just love taking care of their lady.

🔥A Rake, His Patron, & Their Muse by Nicola Davidson. This MMF is set in 1815 and if you want a carriage threesome, exhibitionism, voyeurism, dom/sub/switch, older woman/younger men age gap, and lots of toys…this one is for you! Lennox Townsend is a famed playwright who is currently having writer’s block and just feeling un-inspired. His patron, Lord Jon (who has a secret crush on Lennox) suggests a getaway to the country where they meet Mrs. Viola Prescott. Now a widow, Viola was once a popular dancer for a sexy stage troupe, and as soon as she meets Lennox and Jon she wants them.

🔥Monsieur X by Adrianna Herrera is set in Paris in 1888. Joseph Cantor Marshall, born in Florence to a Cuban opera singer and a Creole architect, is the most sought-after portrait artist in Europe. He is a member of Là-Bas, a luxurious and scandalous Parisian brothel that caters to all his desires. While donning masks, he meets “X” and they share a hot night together in the club. This MM romance had daddy kink, a hero afraid to embrace his real desires but is a sweet engineer who makes a special chair so Joseph doesn’t have to stand on his feet while painting/sketching all day.

🔥Sold to the Duke by Joanna Shupe is set in London in 1895 and is the only MF romance in this anthology. After her brother’s death, Eliza and her younger sister were thrown out of their home by their cousin when he took over the Earldom. In the 5 years since, Eliza has done what it takes to provide for them, but now her sister is ill and needs more help. Eliza decides to auction off her virginity and is shocked when she finds out her buyer is Lucien, Duke of Blackwood, and her late brother’s best friend. This romance was so good…Lucien refuses and tries to hold out but wants Eliza so badly and Eliza is tired of men holding power over her, so she refuses to accept his money or help without making it a business transaction and offering herself up. I loved their history, he was her crush as a young girl, they both love math/connected over solving math problems together. Lucien is continuously thrown off by Eliza’s boldness and want for him and it was so much fun to see.

Thank you to Candi Kane PR and the authors for an e-ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts & review. Rake I’d Like to F… has a publish date of November 30, 2021.

I have mad love for last year’s Duke I'd Like to F... and was super excited when I heard the authors would all be back for another anthology. Who doesn’t love a rake? The ultimate debauched dirty-talking anti-hero bad boy. Sex and swagger personified.

Maybe my expectations were too high?

The two stories I loved, though, were worth the price of the book. In addition to being incredibly hot, these stories both had an underlying theme of longing for, and then finding, acceptance, which made the stories satisfying on a deeper level.

Two Rakes For Mrs Sparkwell / Eva Leigh
Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Heat: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Don’t miss Two Rakes For Mrs Sparkwell! Rush and Jack… sigh. Two men so incredibly delicious I’m tempted to change my name to Mrs Sparkwell. And for all their rakish, carnal ways, both had an achingly sweet emotional vulnerability that was so very appealing.

“Do you feign ignorance of your reputation as London’s most notorious rake?”
He smirked. “To the contrary, madam. I cultivate it as surely as anyone tends an orchid in a glasshouse. Rather flattering, my reputation. Anyone who fucks as often and with such dedicated abandon as I do ought to be recognized for their efforts.”

Indeed! I love this quote... Spoken like a true rake 😍

A Rake, His Patron, and Their Muse / Nicola Davidson
Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Heat: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

A shifting interplay of dominance and submission swirled at the center of the beautiful dynamic between Lennox, Jon and Viola, and the three fit together like pieces of a puzzle, not just sexually, but emotionally as well.

Fuck me. Own me. Love me. Let me please you both.

I needed a bold man. A brave one. But also…unconventional. A man who wouldn’t clip my wings, but be the breeze on which I soared. I see that part of myself in you, my dear. Do not fall prey to the false or staid again. Embrace your true self. Be free.

*Thank you to Candi Kane PR and the authors for an advanced copy of this title.*

Oh boy! Hold onto your corsets and your britches, things are getting spicy in this historical anthology. Authors Sierra Simone, Joanna Shupe, Eva Leigh, Adriana Herrera, and Nicola Davidsion are back again with more historical smexiness and this time it I turned up another notch even higher.

I read Duke I'd Like to F last year when I was sick and it was such a great experience. So I was only to thrilled when I had a chance to read this newest anthology a bit early. I spaced it out and read the 5 tales over a few days and they were a wonderful spicy pick me up each time.

This time we had a bold mix of MMF, MM, and MF and there was more than a bit of naughtiness to go around. The 5 stories included were as follows:

The Last Crimes of Peregrine Hind by Sierra Simone
Two Rakes for Mrs. Sparkwell by Eva Leigh
A Rake, His Patron, and Their Muse by Nicola Davidson
Monsieur X by Adriana Herrera
Sold to the Duke by Joanna Shupe

I had a great time with this though I wasn't as emotionally invested as I was with DILF. I feel like a few of them, particularly the MMF stories, could have used a longer tale to do them proper justice. But either way, this will give you a good tickle and some great short stories to enjoy.

I give the anthology a 4 star over all. And The Last Crimes of Peregrine Hind was my favorite of the 5.

The Last Crimes of Peregrine Hind- Sierra Simone
The son of farmers, Peregrine went off to war when his father died, hoping to support his family by sending them his wages. But when Peregrine returned home it was to find his family dead and their farm destroyed by enclosures enacted by the greedy Duke of Jarrell, so Peregrine turned highwayman in his quest for revenge. When he finally has the chance to be rid of the duke, he’s disheartened to find the ducal carriage contains Lord Alexander, the duke’s brother and heir. Peregrine settles for kidnapping the notorious rake for ransom instead, but he’s wholly unprepared for his reaction to Sandy as a less than completely unwilling captive.

This story wasn’t exactly what I had expected, but I wound up loving it. Peregrine’s original intent was to murder Sandy, but it was quite obvious from the beginning that that was never going to happen. These two wound up being perfect foils for each other and I was bowled over by the simultaneous sweetness and sexiness of their story and I think it’s one of the most well-done highwayman stories I’ve read.

Two Rakes for Mrs. Sparkwell- Eva Leigh
As a fairly new widow, Vivian Sparkwell is looking forward to finally having some peace and freedom. Unfortunately, thanks to her marriage contract, she is required to accept any reasonable offer of marriage or lose her portion entirely. Her best change at the solitude she craves is to ruin her reputation quite thoroughly and publicly to ensure there will be no suitors. She can think of no one better to aid in her quest than Rushton Cantley, London’s most notorious rake. When he suggests they invite his friend Jack Morgan, bareknuckle boxer and gaming house guard, to join them, Vivian is shocked but also highly intrigued and they each have to decide just how far they’re willing to go in this scheme.

This was a very intriguing story for me, and I greatly enjoyed it. Vivian, Rush, and Jack had quite a bit working against them, but they all felt like fully developed characters despite the fact that this was a novella. It was frustrating how much Vivian’s family members attempted to make decisions for her, but that made it all the more satisfying when she finally took her life into her own hands and her courage is what gave Rush and Jack the ability to finally voice their own feelings. This was a very sweet and sexy story, overall.

A Rake, His Patron, & Their Muse- Nicola Davidson
Lennox Townsend is a renowned playwright and known rake about town, know for his very melodramatic writing. Lately, however, he has lost his muse, so his shy patron, Lord Jonathan Grant, suggests a week away at a country boarding house. There they meet the widowed Mrs. Viola Prescott, who has been starved for attention and treated as a servant by her awful in-laws. The three rapidly enter a passionate affair in which each is finally able to be their true self. But they remain surrounded by judgmental people who could still rain on their newfound happiness before they have a chance to make it permanent.

I loved how unconventional this story was. The whole time I just kept wanting to give Jon a hug and take care of him myself, so my only complaint is that I could’ve used more time with him on page. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the openness, honesty, and lack of judgment present in the dynamic between Lennox, Jon, and Viola. Their HEA was believable and oh so satisfying for me and I was actually rather surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

Monsieur X- Adriana Herrera
Joseph Cantor Marshall has fought for his position as a sought-after portrait artist, but he never imagined his success would wind up so dull. Seeking new inspiration, he ventures out to a masked party at an exclusive Parisian club. He’s almost immediately taken with a man who introduces himself only as X, but when Cantor asks for more than one anonymous night, X proves to be very elusive. Cantor’s thoughts are consumed by X but falling for the mysterious man could either be the greatest inspiration he’s ever known or lead to the ruination of everything he’s worked for.

It took a bit for me to really get into this story as I didn’t really find Cantor to be all that likable at first, but he grew on me. I especially loved the caretaking dynamic in the relationship that grew between Cantor and Max and how each was so well-suited to shoring up the other’s weak points. These two were an actual team and I found that endearing as well as sexy.

Sold to the Duke- Joanna Shupe
Since her brother died and failed to leave any provision for his sisters, Lady Eliza has now gone from the high society daughter of an earl to a life of poverty. She and her sister, Fanny, have survived well enough in London’s East End, but Fanny’s weak lungs mean she can’t work and needs medical care which they can ill afford. Eliza decides to use the last option she has and sell her virginity to get the money they need, only to be recognized by one of her brother’s friends at the auction. Lucien, the Duke of Blackwood, is shocked to see Eliza and bids to keep her away from the depraved marquess who seeks her company, only to find that Eliza isn’t interested in being rescued but would prefer to conduct their business exchange and be on her way.

I’m sad to say that this was my least favorite of the bunch, which is a real shock to me especially since this is the only MF couple in the whole collection. Eliza just didn’t do it for me as a heroine. She was maybe a bit overdrawn and the ‘men control everything’ aspect of this book was very heavy handed and got very old, very quickly, especially in such a short book. We know men control most everything; it doesn’t need to be repeated ad nauseum. Other than that, I also had a hard time believing a pampered society debutante would find her way so easily in the East End and that she’d be truly happy there. Eliza just put her illusion of independence above all else to the point of being illogical and I found that disappointing, along with her reaction to Lucien’s secret. As usual, I wanted more communication between the MCs and was sad when we got unreasonable stubbornness instead, though I will say I was happy with the ending, nonetheless.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Blog link: https://mustreadalltheromance.blogspo...

✨I would like a Rake please, or you know, all of them.✨

Joanna Shupe, Nicola Davidson, and Eva Leigh had my favs! I wasn’t very into the other two, but they were all good stories and many, many rakes.

Nicola Davidson had the story closest to what I read for work which means 🔥🔥🔥 I still think it could have gone that extra (👁👄👁) step (if you’ve read it, I think you know what I mean). I also just enjoyed the characters. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Joanna Shupe’s was very hot but more vanilla (hey vanilla is my favorite flavor in everything so I can’t judge). Splendid dirty talk however. If The Lady Gets Lucky had this heat level that book would have been 100% perfect, as is it’s like 99% lol. This one is the closest to what I’d read on the daily. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Eva Leigh’s was in the middle of Shupe and Davidson I’d say. It was hot hot hot but still had some space to go even further. I like her characters and Mrs. Sparkwell is a very lucky woman. I’m only docking .5 because I read this one a while ago and am having a hard time remembering details. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5

Adriana Herrera’s story was very cute and felt the shortest. The steam was hot when it was there but it didn’t go too ~deep~ lol. ⭐️⭐️⭐️.75/5

Sierra Simone’s was just so long that I lost interest. I did like both of the cinnamon rolls I just had a hard time focusing by the end. ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

I averaged all the individual star ratings for a total of 85%. Math! Wow what a thrill.

Meaning the grand total is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.25/5

I was sent an ARC by Candi Kane PR but as always my reviews are honest.

This anthology from Simone, Leigh, Davidson, Herrera, and Shupe is the follow up to last year's hit, Duke I'd Like to F... It's a delicious steam-fest of stories, and anyone who picks it up should believe that love is love and be ready for a variety of sexual situations and explicit language. The authors cranked the heat up even higher than last time!

Sierra Simone - The Last Crimes of Peregrine Hind
Peregrine Hind, ex-soldier and highwayman, lives for revenge against the Dartham family. When Peregrine nabs jolly rake Alexander Dartham instead of his brother, Alexander suggests being Peregrine's ransom prisoner and enjoys being tied up a little too much.
(M/M with bondage)

Eva Leigh - Two Rakes for Mrs. Sparkwell
When Mrs. Vivian Sparkwell finds out that her marriage contract stipulates she'll lose her widow portion if she refuses any reasonable offer of remarriage, she sets out to ruin herself. She approaches Rushton Cantley, notorious gentleman rake, who is intrigued by the shy widow. Rushton often shares partners with his friend, gaming hell bruiser Jack Morgan, and Vivian finds herself curious and wanting.
(M/F/M with voyeurism)

Nicola Davidson - A Rake, His Patron, & Their Muse
Renowned playwrite Lennox Townsend and his patron, Lord Jonathan Grant, encounter former actress-now-repressed widow, Mrs. Viola Prescott, at a country boardinghouse. The trio soon engage in sizzling sex that develops into something more special and vulnerable, as each share a hidden secret and are met with acceptance of their true self.
(M/M/F with voyeurism, dominance, and pain play)

Adriana Herrera - Monsieur X
Much sought after portrait artist Joseph Cantor Marshall is struggling for inspiration, until he meets the mysterious X at a Parisian sex club's masked soirée. He longs to encounter X again, when he meets an elusive and secretive young lord.
(M/M with daddy kink)

Joanna Shupe - Sold to the Duke
After family tragedy, Lady Eliza is destitute and desperate to care for her ill sister. She puts herself up for sale at an exclusive auction where she is recognized and "rescued" by Lucien, Duke of Blackwood...her brother's best friend and girlhood obsession. Eliza doesn't just want a handout; she insists on earning the money in Lucien's bed.
(M/F with spanking)

Auctioned/gambled/sold is one of my favorite tropes, so I adored Shupe's story. I really enjoyed Leigh's and Davidson's polyamorous stories, and thought they were well balanced. Even though M/M stories are usually not my thing, I liked Simone's story, too, and the grumpy/sunshine dynamic of the heroes. I struggled to get into Herrera's novella, which didn't surprise me since I felt that way about her story in DILF, too.

* I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

Dear Santa,

I need to change my Christmas list. I know I said I wanted diamonds, chocolate and some new pyjamas but I need to make an addition.

I want a rake too please. I promise I will be a really, really good girl and I will look after my rake very well. If I might be so bold and you have any spares, I would be able to accommodate two, because two rakes are better than one.

Love Karen

PS. Sierra Simone’s The Last Crimes of Peregrine Hind was a bona fide 5 star read. For a novella, it packs in so much content. Highway men have become my new obsession especially those who are grumpy and sad and need the sport of chasing escaped rakes. Oh Lordy, Lord! Alexander Dartham was a cad and a bounder. He had me giggling at his exploits. Promising not to run away and then legging it - only to be caught again because Peregrine wasn’t about to let him slip through his fingers. I lost a whole afternoon on Pinterest looking for images of highway men and breeches. Stand and deliver!

Two Rakes for Mrs Sparkwell by Eva Leigh stoked my new found obsession with rakes even more. I’ll take two please. I’m quite prepared for them to ruin my reputation. Jack and Rush together with Vivian are smoking hot.

A Rake, His Patron and Their Muse by Nicola Davidson was another great read. It combines my love of rakes with my love of MMF. I just love it when all the legs get tangled. Lennox Townsend is a renowned playwright but he is suffering from writers’ block. His patron Lord Jonathan Grant really wants to kneel at Lennox’s feet and be given a good flogging but he’s too shy to ask. And then there’s Viola who wants to dance and have good times with both of them. Me too Viola, me too.

Monsieur X by Ariana Herrera was ok but it was the weakest link. I did love Lord Maximus but I just didn’t love the way the story was written.

Sold To The Duke by Joanna Shupe so fine it made me shiver. Sweet little fierce virgin seducing her brother’s best friend who was also her childhood crush! Bring me a corset and strap me down because I want to seduce that Duke. I’m so team Lucien Blackwood.

PPS Santa, I’d be happy to take them all.

Trigger warnings: death of a spouse (in the past), death of a parent (in the past), death of a sibling (in the past), poverty, illness, grief, threats of sexual violence, blood, financial control of women, toxic relationships (in the past).

I really enjoyed Duke I'd Like to F... last year so I figured I may as well pick this one up, even though reading the story summaries made it obvious that this was, uh, spicier than my romance reading usually is. And on the whole, I had a good time reading this one.

Sierra Simone's MM highwayman-falls-for-his-captive story was an absolute delight and hands down my favourite of the lot.

Eva Leigh's MFM story about a widow looking to destroy her reputation who falls for both a rake and the friend he shares women with was...kind of slow for me? I think it's partly because I didn't really give a shit about Rush as a character, whereas Jack (boxer and gaming hell bouncer) was an adorable cinnamon roll.

Nicola Davidson's MFM about a playwright, his rich patron and the former dancer-now-widow they fall for at a country boarding house was MUCH funnier than I anticipated. The romance itself was sweet, but I would happily read an entire book about the meddling old people who are determined to get Viola laid.

Adriana Herrera's MM story about two men who meet at an underground sex club was...not for me. There's a lot of stuff about processing grief through BDSM and anonymous casual sex that I just...yeah. I didn't love it?

And finally, Joanna Shupe's auctioning-off-my-virginity-to-save-my-sister-from-a-terrible-illness story where the highest bidder turns out to be her dead brother's best friend who she's been in love with for years was fun but at the same time I had to just ignore their ages because Eliza is (and I may not be remembering correctly because it's been nearly two weeks since I read this) like 19 and while she's legally an adult, I don't vibe with romance books where teenage girls fall for grown ass men in their late 20s who should absolutely know better. I don't really care if it was common at the time. I work in a school. You cannot tell me that 18 and 19 year olds are mature enough to navigate relationships with people a decade older than them. Because they're not.

Anyway. That sounded like quite a lot of complaining for a book that I enjoyed. But in terms of ratings, it's probably 5, 4, 4.5, 3, 3.5, which balances out quite nicely to 4 stars.

I liked the Duke version of this book so much that I could not wait to read the Rake follow up. Anthologies are either so good or just ok and this one is good. In the same vein as Katee Robert, these short stories are full of steam and spice and fun, but set in a historical romance setting that only levels that up. From the first story to the last, the only that that let me set it down was the ending of a story. While all totally different, each story brings fun and steam right when you need it.

The tough thing about anthologies is, at least for me, you end up with a couple stories you enjoy and a couple that you...well, don't.

I loved the Sierra Simone and Joanna Shupe stories in this anthology, so this rating is for those 2 stories. Both of them were interesting and engaging and I found myself wanting the stories to be longer.

I didn't particularly like the other 3 and am not really able to recommend them...

Oh my it was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. Loved them all. They were all so exciting to read and the tropes! You have a highwayman in one book to Dukes, a widow, and etc. A little bit of everything for everyone but I'd have to say Sold To The Duke by Joanna Shupe was my favorite! 2 favorite trope in 1. Brothers best friend, and auctioned. If you love DILF you'll definitely enjoy this too! Lots of fun.

Overall: 5/5
Spice level: 3.5/5
Trope: Captor/kidnapped, M/M

So I read Sierra Simone's story and whew *fans face*. Of course this is what we expect from her!

Sandy and Peregrine were absolutely perfect together. I loved Sandy's cheeky personality and Peregrine's tendency to almost resist his interest in Sandy. For it to be a novella, it covered a lot as far as backstory and development and it was of course delicious.

I may go back and read the others but I normally don't read through an entire anthology.

The math is wonky if you look on the ratings below as an average. But it’s so rare to have this many really good erotic romances (and historical ones! And novellas, no less!) in one place, the stars get bumped way up because it deserves to be read.

Sierra Simone 4 stars
Eva Leigh 5 stars
Nicola Davidson 3
Adriana Herrera 3.5
Joanna Shupe 5

He wanted Peregrine’s grim heart in his hands, and he wanted to treasure it forever.

3.5 stars. This collection was a mixed bag, but I still liked it overall! A series of historical novellas involving rakes and the people who fall for them. None of them quite had what I yearn for in a novella: the ability to stand on its own as a short piece of work without me continuously wishing it was longer. They were all pretty instalove, which, you know, isn't my jam. And even if they weren't, they felt underdeveloped in a lot of places; a natural consequence of short fiction. On the flip side, I'm not sure if I'd have WANTED to read full length novels about all of these characters? I know, I know. I'm a fickle, picky bitch. Though I liked them all to varying degrees, one thing they all had in common was that they all managed to catapult me right out of the story at some time or other with an insanely incongruous/weird phrase or word choice. But hey! I am definitely not a historian, so my right to be picky about this is at a 0.

The Last Crimes of Peregrine Hind: The collection started here and peaked here. It's a little bit ridiculous, but also really fun, and had the most emotional weight for me. What's more charming than a captive who's always trying to get away, but also wants to be kept? Peregrine and Alexander were so good together. Best chemistry and banter of the lot, and now I really want to read from Sierra Simone again.

Two Rakes for Mrs. Sparkwell: Would have been fine but unremarkable if not for Jack. Jack! <3 Men are best when they come in the gentle giant flavour. When I read his letter my heart burst out of my chest and started sprouting flowers. The story would have been even better if it was gayer, but I say that about everything.

A Rake, His Patron, & Their Muse: It was fine. I can't say any of the characters really moved me. I've read Davidson before, but here, the writing really did nothing for me.

Monsieur X: The one story that really needed to be longer. I love Adriana Herrera, and I've enjoyed her shorter works before, but I feel like we barely got to know Cantor and Max.

Sold to the Duke: I loved Eliza! Lucien... lmao. Kinda cringey. Also, I don't blame the hero for the things that happened in the past, definitely not his fault, but idk. The nature of the conflict makes this HEA kinda shaky to me.

So yeah. A mixed bag, but good overall, and pretty hot. Not all of them really delivered on the rake front, but I don't expect anyone who's really interested in reading the collection will be bothered by that.

If you are looking for your next hot book, this is it, you found it, Rake I'd like to f is an anthology with five high heat, historical novellas featuring rakes by the talented authors Sierra Simone, Eva Leigh, Nicola Davidson, Adriana Herrera and Joanna Shupe.

If you've been following these authors you would remember that last year around this time, they published an anthology with a similar format called Duke I'd Like to F..., and it was wonderful, fun and exciting and I found it a super original idea that gives you a little taste of the writing style of each author. I was super excited to know that this year they will be doing Rakes instead of Dukes and even though that book was super sexy, fun and 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥, well, this one is hotter.

In this collection you will find two MM stories, one MMF, one MFM and one MF 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

The Last Crimes of Peregrine Hind by Sierra Simone
MM + Highwayman kidnaps a Rake to pursue his vengeance against the rake's brother + the poisoner enjoys being tied up and manhandled by Peregrine a little bit too much!

Two Rakes for Mrs. Sparkwell by Eva Leigh
MFM + Wallflower widow trying to ruin herself to obtain her freedom + Rake and Boxer heroes + Class difference

A Rake, His Patron, & Their Muse by Nicola Davidson
MMF + Playwright Rake, his patron and a feisty curvy redhead + MAJOR pinning + Carriage s*x

Monsieur X by Adriana Herrera
MM + Glamorous 1800's Paris + Famous artist goes to s*x club and finds his match + Secret identity + Daddy kink + Latinx Rep

Sold to the Duke by Joanna Shupe
MF + Virgin auction + a Rake that bids for his best friend younger sister auction + Kind of dark- ish

I loved all the stories but if I have to chose one, I will go with Monsieur X because of the multiple references to the latix culture, I was specially taken by the painting in which Cantor was working representing the Jarabe Tapatio and I think I'm a little bit biased because that is a typical dance from my home. I love to read how Adriana writes different inclusive stories, starring latinx persons.
I also loved Sold to the duke, Joanna is one of my favorite writers ever and I deeply enjoyed reading two characters that have similar interests (math) and that have a past in common, besides, the fact that she had a crush on him when she was younger.
Regarding the MMF and MFM novellas, those were super hot and the first stories of that type that I read, def will read more ménages in the future.

I received an ARC of this book and I voluntarily leave this review. Thank you Adriana Herrera for the ARC.

A wonderful collection that exceeded my expectations!
I must confess I came for the s-e-x – and who wouldn’t, with so many great steamy authors like that? – but I found so much more in this book. I found deep emotions, I found passion, I found excitement, but most of all I found LOVE in all its forms.
I just adored every one of these captivating novellas.
Sierra Simone’s and Helena Herrera’s are the first MM stories I ever read. I thought it would not be my cup of tea, so to speak, but instead I really enjoyed them very very much. Simone’s portrait of Peregrine and Sandy is brilliant and reminded me of the grumpy hero/sunshine heroine trope. I was amused by Sandy’s antics and Peregrine’s reaction to them, but also moved to tears by both characters’ desire to be loved for what they are.
As for Herrera’s novella, I was captivated by the story of an artist who’s in search of inspiration, but also of love, even if he still doesn’t know it. And Max is such an endearing character, so peculiar, so fragile, so lovable!
Nicola Davidson’s novella is great fun and a very steamy read, but there’s also tenderness beneath the façade. It’s basically the story of three people with different desires who are able to find each other and decide to share their life and not be bound by Society’s rules. Definitely one of her best!

As for Eva Leigh, she knows how to write about desire and passion! Her novella has wonderful graphic scenes, but the sexual tension is there even when her characters are simply talking to each other or just thinking about each other. She can evoke feelings with a turn of phrase and I really look forward to reading more of her.
Last but not least, Joanna Shupe pens a wonderful novella with a great heroine who finds herself in dire straits, but sees her new condition as an opportunity to grow. Eliza fights for her life and her sister’s health and becomes stronger in the process. So much so that the hero has to work very hard to convince her to trust him and let him help her! I really enjoyed the interaction between the characters in and outside the bedroom, and I also loved the fact that the hero is in love with Eliza’s mind even more than with her body and respects her greatly.
A thoroughly enjoyable read for lovers of steamy books with lots of feeling!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Last Crimes of Peregrine Hind - Sierra Simone
An excellent start to this anthology. Perfect Ms. Simone. A good opposites attract, enemies to lovers story. The love between Peregrine and Sandy (Alexander) is lovely.

Two Rakes for Mrs. Sparkwell - Eva Leigh
A fairly straightforward m/f/m ménage story, executed in a light and sexy manner. Enjoyed it.

A Rake, His Patron and Their Muse - Nicola Davidson
There were a lot of moving parts in this story, and it took a little too long to come together. But the outcome made it worth it.

Monsieur X - Adriana Herrera
Good, didn’t fully come together for me. Parisian 19th century BDSM, who knew? I do respect that the author discusses racism in that time.

Sold to the Duke - Joanna Shupe
An interesting take on the sweet-young-poor-virgin auctions her virginity. She is bought by a friend of her brother, who she’s always had a crush on.

Bought from kindle.

This is from the same authors that gave us Duke I'd like to F, so I was so happy to see another anthology from them!

It included 5 novella length stories, all of them steamy.

2 of them were LGBT stories- The Last Crimes of Peregrine Hind (loved the chemistry for this one) and Monsieur X
2 of them were threesomes- Two Rakes for Mrs. Sparkwell (wanted a little more from the ending for this one) and A Rake, His Patron, & His Muse (this one was funny/cute)
1 of them was a virginity auction- Sold to the Duke

I enjoyed them all, but I think my favorites were The Last Crimes and Two Rakes for Mrs. Sparkwell.

Rakes surpassed Dukes in the steam department!
Besides one story, each one was spicier than the last. The tropes used worked really well for each story. I felt each author really had fun writing and it shows.
My one complaint is that I wished the two MFM stories weren’t placed together. The stories felt too similar and I felt like I was reading the same story twice.
I wouldn’t say these are romances either, these are pure erotic novellas so don’t go into this with those kinds of expectations.
Really had fun with this one and cannot wait to see what the next anthology brings!

4.5 stars to The Last Crimes of Peregine Hind by Sierra Simone, 5 stars to Two Rakes for Mrs. Sparkwell by Eva Leigh, 4 stars to A Rake, His Patron, and their Muse by Nicola Davidson, 4 Stars to Monsieur X by Adriana Herrera, and 3.5 stars to Sold to the Duke by Joanna Shupe. 4.2 stars average, but rounded up bc I think this is a stronger anthology on the whole than last years Duke I’d Like to F… (which i enjoyed a lot!)

Compared to the previous “Duke I’d Like to F” this volume was a step up on the raunch scale. Unfortunately, giving the length and time of each tale, some of the stories and characters lacked depth for me. I just didn’t care if the characters found a solution and I found myself bored with some of the more overtop sex given the lack of connection. The only one I can see myself eager for a reread is “The Last Crimes of Peregrine Hind”.

If you like your historicals spicy or if you avoid historicals because they seem too tame, I would highly suggest trying these.

Rakes I'd Like To F... features five stories that appeal to those that need a little... more.

This collection features M/M, MMF, and M/F stories. Each one is deliciously hot!

I enjoyed reading these and can't wait to read more from these authors!
