What educators are saying

My student love doing mysteries at the end of our math modules. These are so much fun and a great way to practice concepts just learned. Thank you!
My students love these module reviews! I use the BTC method in math and I like that these reviews don't mimic the test. Super engaging! They did take my kids more time than expected but now I know how to plan for review time

    ❗️What is it?
Prepare your students for their EngageNY assessments by reviewing content with these fun puzzles. Students will answer module-based questions to crack a code and unlock a clue. They will use these clues to whittle down a suspect list and find out who the activity's culprit is.

    • "My students LOVED doing this during one of their math station rotations. They could not wait until the last day to find out who the culprit was. They were completely engaged in this activity. It was so great! The best part is they were practicing their math skills right before a test. So awesome!"

We highly recommend encouraging students to complete the Challenge Question for each pack to best prepare them for the assessment's word problems.

To save paper and ink, we recommend only printing the necessary pages.

Tell and write time to the nearest minute and measure time intervals in minutes. Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of time intervals in minutes, e.g., by representing the problem on a number line diagram.
Measure and estimate liquid volumes and masses of objects using standard units of grams (g), kilograms (kg), and liters (l). Add, subtract, multiply, or divide to solve one-step word problems involving masses or volumes that are given in the same units, e.g., by using drawings (such as a beaker with a measurement scale) to represent the problem.
Draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories. Solve one- and two-step “how many more” and “how many less” problems using information presented in scaled bar graphs. For example, draw a bar graph in which each square in the bar graph might represent 5 pets.
Generate measurement data by measuring lengths using rulers marked with halves and fourths of an inch. Show the data by making a line plot, where the horizontal scale is marked off in appropriate units-whole numbers, halves, or quarters.
Recognize area as an attribute of plane figures and understand concepts of area measurement.
