Military Road and Main Street Upgrade and Public Plaza

Military Road and Main Street Precinct has been transformed

We have transformed Military Road (North Street to South Street) and Main Street (Seaview Road to East Terrace) at Henley Beach to provide a beautiful amenity and a safer streetscape for all road users. Both road assets were due for renewal and this presented us with the opportunity to upgrade them to better suit the needs and use of the street for the next 60 years. The project included:

  • streetscape upgrade of Military Road Henley Beach, between North Street and South Street
  • streetscape upgrade of Main Street Henley Beach, between Military Road and East Terrace
  • conversion of Main Street Henley Beach, between Military Road and Seaview Road to a public plaza

The total project cost $14.2 million with $9 million allocated through Council, $2.6 million of funding through SA Power Networks and $2.6 million from the State Government’s 2021/22 Open Spaces and Places for People Grants program.
