We met in darkness.

Fate brought us back together and almost as quickly ripped us apart.

The world we lived in thrived on greed and deception.

Two dark souls converged and aligned in an eruption of vengeance and hatred.

Death almost ended us, and now nothing could break us. Or so we thought. What will happen when our world tries to tear us apart at every turn?

King’s Vow is the intriguing first book in the Guerrera Syndicate series. If you like strong heroines, alpha males, and dark romance, then you’ll love Ella Kade’s mafia/drug cartel romance.

i felt like i was reading a wattpad story but even some wattpad stories are better than this.

this book was too fast paced to the point where there was no world building, no introduction to the characters or the setting. because of this i didn’t care for any of the characters. arely and bash’s relationship came off very unnatural and shallow.

the funny thing is about the book is how arely is all talk no actions. throughout the book she talks about finding and killing whoever tried to kill her but she does nothing.
for a cartel’s leader she is pretty useless. her brothers just hire more men and then they move on until there’s another attack and again arely does nothing at all just tries to sound all badass with her words.
even by the end of the book, despite being three attempts to kill her and bash they are no closer to finding out who is behind the attacks.

what a pointless book

“She was pure fire, and I couldn’t get enough of her, even knowing one day I’d be burned.”

This was my first book by Ella Kade and oh what a thrilling treat it was! King’s Vow is an explosive, hold-your-breath, pedal-to-the-metal romance that had my heart racing the whole time reading. Utterly intense and intoxicating.

King’s Vow is a unique take on the mafia trope where the queen rules the roost. I loved this change of power. This story stars the most fearless of mafia queens and her brave king—both bold and beautiful—who rule in a world of savagery and sin.

I fell hard for the dominant and delicious hero, Bash, an alpha who reveals his soft edges to his soulmate. Arely, the dominating force of a heroine was who I admired the most. Arely and Bash are so attuned to each other with an awareness felt everywhere. I couldn’t help but feel their deep connection grab me through the pages.

The strong and smoldering characters seduced me, holding me captive the whole time reading. My only wish was for a longer ending. Arely and Bash’s story seems unfinished … like there’s more to uncover. However, the overall story continues in the next Guerrera sibling’s book and maybe readers will get more of Bash and Arely.

This mafia saga full of fire and desire burns every step of the way. I was a prisoner of this dark romance—dominated—where I felt every ounce of this potent mix of pain and pleasure. Readers, buckle up, you’re in for a wild ride!

There was no depth to the main characters. They never even had a deep discussion when they were fucking each others brains out. Like does he even know her favorite color? Do they even know each others birthdays? The so called “love” was purely based on looks and just felt incredibly superficial. They might think they are soulmates but this book was written like they were friends with benefits.

At first, I didn’t think much of Pablo. But after he killed that guy who said he had info on who put the hit on Arely, he’s #1 on my suspect list. Plus he was the first one to tell Arely that Santi was being suspicious.

That whole trip to Columbia didn’t need to be included at all. Literally nothing happened in that scene that elevated the story. I’m convinced it was just filler to make the book longer.

Lastly, I don’t get why Santi just doesn’t tell Arely he has a thing for Bree (also her full name: Bree Zee is just cringey, sorry not sorry. Sounds like a characters name for a children’s show.) He’s making such a big deal out of it and I don’t particularly see why.

The first time I ever read one of this author’s stories was in an anthology and when she mentioned that there would be a full-length story I immediately wrote it down to check for its release. I was that excited by the short excerpt I couldn’t wait for the full story and I am pleased to say it has been an action-packed story.

Arely Guerrera is the head of the Guerrera family cartel, which she runs with her four brothers. She is one tough and determined woman who knows her own mind and doesn’t let people get away with anything—well usually. Sebastian King, aka Bash, might be the exception but only by a tad.

Bash is a young college student who is struggling to survive financially until he meets Ale and Army, two of Arely’s brothers. Things quickly escalate from then on in many different ways. Life certainly was anything but boring and I am not sure how he and the twins fit college in!

Underlying the romance between the lead characters is the intriguing suspense element, which has a mystery that seems will go on to the next book, I do have a niggling suspicion but am not sure of the reasoning. The next romance looks like it will be a doozy too. I look forward to reading about both the continued mystery and the next romance.

Arely Guerrera is head of the Guerrera cartel family. She runs it with her brothers and they do not mess around. By "they" I mean Arely. She is seriously badass!!

Bash is a young & poor college student just trying to make it. He hops on board with two brothers with the promise to make himself more financially stable.

Unbeknownst to him, these brothers have a sister that he is "familiar" with. Let's just say they quickly met.....in the biblical way. What will happen when they meet again?

Wonderful story. Amazing writing. Deep amazing characters. Loved this book!

Holy smokes this book was awesome!! it had an explosive beginning and had me hooked and wanting to read more. I loved Sebastian and how he tries to rob her and the tables turn and she ends up taking him against a wall in the alley! He learned very quickly that she wasn’t the one. I loved Arely and how she handled herself. I really like that even though she had four brothers, she was the boss and they listened to her. Although, I think her oldest brother Pablo is the one who is trying to take her out, but I could be wrong. Her brothers gets Sebastian to start work for them and when he meets her again, sparks fly and the sexual attraction was off the charts!! I loved that he made a vow to protect her, even when he barely knew her and he kept his word. This book was so well written and I couldn’t put it down. I’m extremely intrigued about reading Santi’s story and find out the secrets he is keeping from Arely. Four stars!!!

Arely is our heroine who is running the family business (the Guerrera Family Cartel) with her brothers but she's the final decision so lives her life like a BOSS! College student Sebastian (aka Bash) is having a rough time keeping his head above water but things take a turn when he comes face to face with Arely & Co. It's hard to express my opinion without giving anything away, as King's Vow is an intricate plot since it's showcasing a cartel, so the twists are definitely coming in hot. Obviously there's action in spades, and our heroine is STRONG & you don't mess with her but the sparks are flying between Arely & Bash so the chemistry won't be denied for very long. I'm very excited for this series, and cannot wait to read more because it's very addictive. My one issue was the slow pace at the beginning, but once it hit its stride, well I didn't move until all the pages were devoured! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The first book of the Guerrara Syndicate and talk about a meet cute syndicate style.

Arely and Bash are almost too hot to handle. The desire between the two is on another level and I want what they have! I want to be as bad ass and as comfortable in my own skin, to unashamedly take what I want, as Arely and I want someone like Bash, who's every single thought of every single day revolves around me and ONLY me; no matter if we are together or apart.

"I want to show everyone of these a$$h0les the Guerrara queen has herself a king."

Besides the delicious spicy scenes, there is so much going on in this book that I can hardly wait to read the next book to see how it all plays out. There was attempted murder, a test for a secret society, suddenly betrayals on all fronts, secrets within the family and the DEA trying hard to close in on the Guerraras.

Do not expect to get any anwers by the end of this book because it does end in a cliffhanger. It is in itself a 5 star read, but I chose 4 because I felt a little more of the story could have been told to move at least one of the many plot lines beyond it's introduction to the story. Now on to find out how long I have to wait to see if any of my theories are right!

Please read the content warnings. It is after all a dark syndicate romance.

Trust No One…

This was a good start to the Guerrera Syndicate series. Bash is a young college student trying to get by. One night he follows Arely planning on stealing her purse but gets the surprise of his life. He didn’t think he’d see the woman again that rocked his world but her brothers bring him in to do a job for them.
Bash and Arely’s connection was hot from the start and it just grew even stronger. Through attempts on both their lives it’s a race to find out who is responsible. By the end we have our suspicions but we don’t get the answer.
We get a peak into what and who the next book will be about. Hopefully the plot of who is the traitor will continue.

This is the start of a new series for this author, and I am here for the ride. Bash and Arely’s story kicks the series off. There are enemies lurking in the shadows, interesting family dynamics and a bit of mystery throughout. It does take a bit to get into the book and warm up to the characters and the ending was abrupt IMO in regards to Arely and Bash. I am really intrigued to see how this series develops and how Arely’s brother’s come into play.

I don’t know what to say other then it was bad. The writing was sorely lacking. I cringed throughout the whole book. I skipped the sex scenes, which I NEVER do, because after the first one I was like no. Just no. Was there even a plot to this book? What was the point of them going to Colombia? To be stuck in a room and then go home? It was all over the place and yet nothing happened.

3.5stars— KING’S VOW is the first instalment is Ella Kade’s (aka Harlow Layne) contemporary, adult GUERRERA SYNDICATE erotic, romance, Mafia, drug cartel series. This is thirty year old, Arely Guerrera, head of the Guerrera Syndicate , and twenty year old college sophomore turned body guard Sebastian ‘Bash’ King’s story line.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Arely and Bash) KING’S VOW follows the building relationship between thirty year old, Arely Guerrera, head of the Guerrera Syndicate , and twenty year old college sophomore turned body guard Sebastian ‘Bash’ King. Bash thought to rob a random stranger but had no idea he would be facing down the head of the Guerrera Syndicate. Jumping in to save a fellow student, Bash would use his skills as a thief, only this time to face Guerrera twins Ale and Army, who offer him a position with the Guerrera mob. A trial period finds Bash coming full circle, once again facing the woman he had attempted to rob, the woman with whom Bash would fall in love. Enter Arely Guerrera. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Bash and Arely, and the potential fall-out as someone is targeting our story line heroine, taking aim at everyone she loves.

The Guerrera Syndicate controls the local drug trade but someone has altered the supply, and Arely is determined to uncover the truth. A trip to Columbia finds Arely and her family running for their lives, as Bash places himself in the direct line of fire to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love. As Bash and Arely’s relationship turns serious, Arely is unable to trust her own family as Bash fights for his life following another attack.

The relationship between Bash and Arely begins as a wild back-alley encounter where our heroine takes charge with our story line hero. Arely’s brothers struggle with her relationship with a man ten years her junior, a man they know very little about. Bash knows Arely is the only woman to own his heart but the family continue to test our story line hero. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense but the opening encounter is questionable on many levels.

We are introduced to Arely’s brothers- twins Ale and Army, Santiago and Pablo, as well as Arely’s best friend Bree. I am not too sure about the true nature of the siblings’ relationships, as everyone is suspect in the attacks against our story line heroine, and Ale and Army remind me of loveable puppies. There is something developing between Santi and Bree.

KING’S VOW is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The premise is engaging and interesting; the characters were energetic but we know very little about the who, how and why; the age-gap romance is erotic but I struggle to feel any palpable attraction.

King's Vow was my first ever book by Harlow or her pen name Ella Kade.

I found the story to be super intriguing, full of suspense and dangerous everything I love in a book. The leading M/F characters were a perfect fit.

Sebastian King or aka Bash was living his life doing what he had to day to day to get by.

Which is how he meet Arely.

Arely met Bash and almost turned his game back on him, showing him she isn't a weak defenceless woman.

Afterwards they both can't stop thinking of the other.

They once again crossways that changes things for the both of them.

"A fierce need to protect Arely came over me, and I would at all costs. If she wanted me by her side, then by her side, I would be. No one was going to stop me—especially not her brothers."

There was something absolutely sexy about Bash. From the beginning there was just this chemistry between them.

“Damn it, Arely, I can’t help it. I’m as drawn to protecting you as I am f*cking you. Don’t try to stop me.”

I have a real deep feeling and I will not say who...but the "situations and happenings" in the story
There where some signs as to who!

Overall really, REALLY enjoyed reading this story. I am looking forward to reading more from Ella Kade.

Having read the rest of Ms.Kade's work i've been looking so forward to more from her! As soon as she announced this one, it caught my eye right away. I picked it up and got right into the Guerrera Syndicate world! I enjoyed this story!

Arely and Bash's journey captured my attention right from the start! These two and their world's collide in an unforgettable fashion. Will Arely and Bash give into what's between them? Or is there too much at stake?

I really liked how Arely and Bash both pulled me in and the way they were brought into each other's lives. I didn't quite know what all to expect in this book which i enjoyed. Arely was a kick-butt heroine for sure. I loved how determined Bash was when it came to Arely. The chemistry between these two was great and blushworthy!

With King's Vow, Ms.Kade has created such a good and dark read with steam that kept me on my toes! I am so looking forward to more from her and the Guerrera Syndicate world!

Intriguing and a bit dark, Arely and Bash’s story starts a new series. There is quite a bit of mystery as enemies lurk in the shadows for the Guerrera Family. The family dynamic of the story as well as the relationship between Arely and Bash are well written and I enjoyed the banter as well as the sentiment that existed. Bash also seems mature beyond his age, which is very fitting to his character. It did take a bit for me to get into the story, I didn’t especially get drawn in by Bash or the twins in the first few chapters, as the book continued though I enjoyed the depth that came about within their storylines. Although this book is not a cliffhanger there is a continuing storyline that is not concluded within this book. I look forward to seeing if my thoughts about the hidden enemies are correct.

Arely and Bash have great chemistry. I love that he's never intimidated by her position of power. My only complaint is that we don't know or have any clues as to who is trying to hurt Arely. But I am looking forward to the next couple's book.

These two meet in darkness and proceed to have a steamy interlude. They go their separate ways never expecting to see each other again.

Until her younger brothers walk him right into her compound, they want to recruit him. She agrees.
He also shows up on his own unannounced. And so begins their relationship.

When someone tries to assassinate Arely, Bash does his best to shield her and keep her alive. As she begins her recovery she keeps him by her side to protect her, among other things.

Thank you so much to the author and Wildfire for this ARC to review.

This is the 1st in a new series, and what a thrilling beginning this story is! Arely is the head of the Guerrera cartel, which she runs with her four brothers. Arely is strong, determined, and a force to be reckoned with. Sebastian / Bash is a struggling college student, until he meets Ale and Army, Everly’s brothers. Everly and Bash as both dark souls who are destined to become soulmates. This is a well written story which is dark, raw, gritty, and intriguing, with romance, vengeance, deception, greed, family, twists, suspense, mystery, danger, witty banter, emotions, and love, which leads to a riveting and addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Thanks to the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions for the early review copy.

King's Vow is a mafia romance, but with the female MC at the head. Arely is the head of the Guerrerra Cartel. She meets Bash in an unexpected way and sparks fly right away. Then her brothers bring Bash to her as a prospective "employee."

Bash and Arely have an interesting start to their relationship but become pretty attached to each other not long after. He vows to protect her after it becomes apparent someone is after her.

This was a quick, fun read with a good amount of danger and spice.

I do wish there was a bit more of their relationship building because it felt a bit quick and forced to me, but was still a good read.

This is a book that will drop you right into the middle of something and you are not quite sure what is happening and who the players all are for a couple of chapters. The two main characters have a special type of meet cute that will make your insides wiggle a bit. I love the strong FMC type that Arely is but within her strength she knows when to ask for help too. Bash is ready to stand by her side and lay himself down to protect her and it is a beautiful thing. Though this seems to be the wrap up on Bash and Arely getting together, there is clearly more to come from the Guerrera Syndicate and I am ready for it.

This was my first read from this author and I could not put it down. Bash and Arely were one another’s perfect match I loved these two. I love how fiercely protective Bash becomes of Arely and he wasn’t about to let anyone stand in his way. I love the mystery that lurks in the background there is something dirty poppin off and I can’t wait to see what happens. Arely is something else she is not a weak woman heck no she’s a MFKN boss Bish. I love watching these two grow together as one and cannot wait to see where this series takes us.

The first book in the new Guerrera Syndicate series has got off to a great start, I love strong female leads and Arely must be one of the strongest I have read in a while she takes no prisoners, rules with an iron fist and is not afraid to go after what she wants, and if that happens to be younger college student Bash, who are we to judge, because he maybe only 20 but he clearly acts older than his 20 years. A hot meeting in an alley sets up this sizzling hot story and add in the mystery and suspense that follows then you know that this series is on track to go only get better.

This is an honest review for an arc received.

This author is a new to me author. I really liked the plot of this story. My only issue was the “speed” of the story. I think if certain parts were elaborated on, the story would’ve flowed better. This story is 0-60 from the very first page, and doesn’t really slow down.

4 action packed stars. The premise was great. As I said previously, I wish parts were elaborated on to make this story flow easier. The hotness is off the charts and their chemistry is instant.

This book follows Arely and Bash. Arely happens to be a FEMALE head of the Guerrera cartel, along with her 4 brothers. Bash is a college student struggling to get by and just doing what he has to. When he gets mixed up with 2 of Arely's brother's his life gets interesting. I love when the female MC is strong and doesn't take no sh** from anyone. Bash and Arely are a perfect fit. I love how they are together. This read has lots of suspense and danger along with the steam! Can't wait for more!- Jacqueline

This was my first Ella Kade's book. This is the first book in the Guerrera Syndicate Series, a mafia/drug cartel romance. Arely and Sebastian/Bash is original, dark, intense, passionate, complex, and suspenseful, filled with action, and twists and turns. Arely, the boss of the family business, is powerful, strong, sassy, and ruthless. Bash is handsome, alpha, sexy, determined, and protective. The chemistry is sizzling hot. Arely's brothers are intriguing. The characters are interesting. This is a great bodyguard and reverse age-gap romance. Looking forward for more in the series.

An introduction to a new series with a twist.
Arely is head of the Guerra cartel with balls of steel. When Bash tried to steal her purse she immediately took him on. As she forced him into the dark alley she did the unthinkable. Yep she did!
As Arely and Bash's relationship grows obstacles are thrown in their path putting them in the line of fire.
There is a mole amongst her trying to kill her. But who? She only trusts Bash and her four brothers. Would one of them betray her?
Action packed drama, mystery, suspense and hot steamy scenes.
Can't wait for Santi and Bree's story!

Bash and Arely will have you hooked!!!!

King's Vow is book #1 in the Guerrera Syndicate series.

I adore every book Harlow/Ella writes!!!

Arely is such a baddie!!! She is the Boss of the Guerrera Family Cartel and I might have a crush on her 🤣 Sebastian is in college and doesn't have it easy in life. When their paths cross, things change for them both. They can't stop thinking about each other and Bash just wants to be in her life and keep her safe. And the spice in this book, ugh I love it!!!

I can't wait for more in this world!!

3⭐️ I really struggled on how to rate this because in terms of writing 1⭐️ it was like something from wattpad, just all of it was terrible. Everything was so rushed and messy. One of the worst mafia books I’ve read the number of plot holes I can’t even count. BUT in terms of entertainment ⭐️4 I have no clue why u found this book enjoyable and entertaining. I quite literally would laugh at how bad it is and the fact I’d figured out the whole plot 😭😂 I still ate it up and will be reading the rest even tho it’s pure trash.

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions. This is my honest review.

This was my first book by Ella Kade and I thought it was very unique and different. I love that Arely is the strong, dominant, in charge woman and that Sebastian is 100% okay with that. Not too many times you find a major girl boss making demands and a guy who is absolutely down for that.

Their introduction was interesting and so unexpected for me. I love how close they get as well.

I thought the ending was a bit abrupt in regards to Arely and Sebastians story, but I'm intrigued to see how the overall plot will get solved throughout the next siblings storyline.

I'm glad I got the chance to read this story and I look forward to other books by this author!
