The heat is on.

Situated on the Tennessee and North Carolina border, this town is nothing like you've ever experienced. Hot guys, the women they love, and a town worth saving. Bradford, TN is the epicenter of the next great romance dynasty.

Firefighters, family, and community!

Cameron Hines

I take my job very seriously. Both of them. I'm a Lieutenant at Bradford Station Company One, and I'm a single dad to a little girl who completely brightens my world.

It's not easy, holding it all together, but I do my best. Honestly, I wouldn't be doing as well as I am without my best friend's sister. Natalie treats my daughter like her own, and watches her for me without complaint.

Things are status quo until one day I see her in a different light. She quits being the babysitter, and becomes a woman. One I'll do anything for.

When her brother finds out all bets are off, and I have to answer for my indiscretions. He and I are sent out on a mission to find a lost child in the woods. We have to bury the hatchet and do our jobs, but when the worst happens, we have to make a decision that neither of us ever imagined.

Thoughts

I've never read Laramie’s books before; this is a first. It is also the second book of the series but I didn’t read the first and it could be well read as a standalone.

I don’t usually read single parent tropes because my heart is too fragile for that but I decided to give this a shot because its single, hot, firefighter dad trope. Add in the best friend’s sister trope and this book sounds promising.

Cameron was a sweet and doting father to his daughter, Trinity whom he easily would give his life for. Despite having a tough job he was never an absent parent. Natalie, the babysitter and Cameron’s best friend’s sister is the forbidden fruit he can’t go for. The more their paths crossed, the more things can’t change from what they became.

It was a light and quick read, not much to linger upon or feel angsty towards. I liked the pacing of the chapters, especially for readers who have a short attention span like myself. I liked the bond between Natalie and Trinity as well.

Unfortunately, the chemistry between Cam and Natalie felt too unpassionate and bland. It portrayed the characters as one dimensional which made me not connect with them. I liked how they were individually rather than how they were together. I would have liked this single parent trope to provide more angst and more groveling.

Overall a good, light read.

I was really excited for this book : brothers best friend, single dad/firefighter, unrequited love and that gorgeous cover -- I couldn't wait. But I felt like there was something missing that kept me from really connecting with the characters. Plus some transitions just happened out of nowhere making me think I missed a chapter or something, but it happened over and over again. And I didn't like the way the conflict was handled at all. Cameron should have groveled a lot more than he did, especially with how easy he was willing to throw their relationship away. I just wish Natalie would have made him prove that he loved and wanted her, instead of her just forgiving him.

I did love Trinity though! She was adorable and definitely kept me reading!

This was a wonderful story about a single firefighter dad, who finally finds the love of his life.

Cam and Natalie are perfect for each other. She is working as a nanny to his little girl and since she was old enough she was in love with him. It turns out that he was also attracted to her. I was soo happy when they finally let go to their feelings to be together.

We do have some drama, related to Natalie's brother Gauge - Cam was afraid to tell him he is in love with his little sister. But everything went alright and we have a happy ending.

I am definately interesting to read the next book in this series - Chance's book. I also hope that we will have a book for Natalie's brother Gauge in the future. Only time will tell 😎.

POV: First person / Dual
Genre: Single Dad & Nanny / Best friends sibling / First responder / Small town

Cameron has been a single father to his daughter, Trinity, since his wife left them three years previously without a backwards glance. His long, and somewhat undesirable, work schedule as a Lieutenant with the Bradford Fire Department mean he can’t do it all alone, which is where Natalie fits in.

Natalie is the younger sister of Cameron’s best friend and fellow firefighter, Gauge, who acts as Trinitys nanny when Cameron needs her to. Their relationship is strictly platonic, despite a mutual attraction that they hide from everyone, including each other, until one morning Cameron comes home early and finds Natalie in just a towel…

Combust was a fast-paced read that offered light angst and drama, it was clear that Cameron and Natalie’s feelings for each other were deep rooted and I did root for them.

For me there was a juvenility to the characters that I couldn’t quite understand, that said they were likeable and did have great chemistry. I’d say that Combust is a comfy read, it was a middle of the road book for me.

Cameron's life consists of his adorable daughter, Trinity, and his job as a firefighter. His friend/his friend Gauge's sister, Natalie, has been in his life forever, and he's only ever seen her as a friend and wonderful caretaker of his daughter when he's working. But lately he's been seeing her in a new light, a new, very intriguing light. Her brother is his best friend, though, so it means anything they start will have to be kept a secret. He's not willing to give up his friendship for anything. Except, perhaps, Natalie?

Natalie loves caring for Trinity. She may not have attained her dreams, but she's happy with her life in her small town. Then suddenly her brother's friend, her own friend, Cameron, suddenly sees her as more than a friend. She knows her brother probably won't approve, but she doesn't care, she's an adult and gets to choose who she dates. But will Cameron ever want to be public with her? Is she more important than possibly straining his friendship with her brother?

This is a mostly angst free, lighthearted read. Once Cameron sees Natalie in a new light, the pace picks up and goes light speed to the ending. I admit to wanting more relationship development, more figuring things out, and most significantly, I wanted the resolution to their fight to be much more detailed. Cameron didn't grovel nearly enough, OK, not at all, and it bothered me, a lot. It was as if one word from her brother, and one tense event and Natalie up and forgave him without more than a sentence of apologies. Other than those two things, though, I liked this brother's friend, firefighter story.

This was a gorgeous story about abandonment and the fears they come from dreams not being met. I’m a sucker for a single dad story and this was a great one. A hot firefighter, a women who doesn’t know what to do with her life after her Olympic dream wasn’t realised and a six year old with so much spunk you just want to hug her to bits!

Looking forward to more in this series.

Book two of the Bradford Fire Station Series but could easily be read as a standalone novel. Are you ready for a hawt firefighter, single dad in a small town, sexy romance? Grab your copy today.

Cam has two loves in this world, his job as a firefighter and his little sweet 6 year old daughter. Saving lives and keeping his team in shape physically & mentaly are his jobs at work. Doing everything he can to help make sure his little girl doesn't feel the pain of her mother leaving them when she was just a baby. Giving that little girl the best life possible.

Natalie has floundered a little bit after her almost Olympic debut with the womans softball team. Returning home and working a few different jobs as she searches for her true passion. Finding herself working with Cam as a nanny to his little girl while he is working. She quicklly finds herself loving the little sweetie as if she was her own. The hard part is the crush she has on Cam that doesn't seem to be returned.

When Cam suddenly sees Natalie in a different light, he seems lost all over again. Could he really open them both up for that kind of hurt once again? What will his best friend think? Could putting his fears aside be worth it?

An emotional read that was consuming and comforting all at the same time. Looking forward to more from the series.

Nothing is quite as painful as wanting love, feeling it yourself, wanting to reach out and grab it, and letting it slip through your fingers due to fear. Fear of losing friends. Fear of losing the person you love, or of them losing you. But when you don’t close your hand and hold on fast enough, that’s exactly what happens. Just ask Cam. He should’ve learned by now that Natalie is all in. That her brother would be okay with this, once he got some snarky comments in. But is it too late when Cam finally pulls his head together? Will Natalie give him a chance?

This book dealt with more than just hidden love. It’s the painful process of dealing with abandonment for father and child alike. It’s the fears of losing a friend, or that friend losing what they love in life. And the fears of never having the goodness that others get, even if the guy who could give is it right there. Between Natalie, Cam, and Gauge, there were so many regrets and worries and hopes that I was sad to get to the end. Natalie and Cam worked hard to fix their problems, but what’ll become of Gauge? He’s found some confidence again, but what price is his recovery going to take in return? Honestly, I look forward to his journey in a future book. He almost made me sadder than Natalie’s heartbreak a few times, so I’m sure he’s got something good ahead for him, too.

Combust is a romance centered in a small town with a close community feeling of people who work and live together. Cameron is a single father. He loves his daughter, works hard as a firefighter, but hasn't put himself out there since his marriage failed. Then one day, he opened his eyes and finally sees (in more ways than one) the one woman who has been beside him for years. Natalie, who has been helping him care for his young daughter has always known how she felt about Cam and wears her heart on her sleeve, not that Cam had ever noticed her in that way. As their relationship ignites, insecurities rise and tempers flare.
While the story focus is on Natalie and Cameron, there were insights into situations two secondary characters – her brother Gauge and Cam’s co-worker Chance are struggling with. These glimpses displayed highlighted how much this group of people care about each other and share such a strong emotional connection. 4.5 stars.

This book took some time to land in my hands and I can say the wait was worth it.
Cam is a single father to an adorable little girl. He has the weight of the world on his shoulders with the way his ex-wife left him their daughter. He's only focus is his job and being the best dad to her.
Natalie has been her babysitter since the wife left. And in the years, she's fallen in love with both. She was hiding her crush on the sexy firefighter but now that he finally notices her or better yet when he finally admits that he feels something more for her, all bets are off. As someone who had to let go of a dream, I felt connected to Natalie. It's hard when you leave behind things that mean the world to you in that moment.
Their chemistry was explosive. I was on pins and needles for them to come out in the open about how they feel for each other. And here's where I fell for Natalie. She was tired of being left behind and was not going to let that happen to her once again in her life. To watch them both have dreams come true when they finally reached the point where they both knew they couldn't live without each other was a great moment in the book.

It's no secret I’m a big fan of Laramie Briscoe. With each book she brings a new couple to connect and fall madly in love with. I can't wait to see what lady luck has in store next for this small-town USA.

Cameron Hines has time for two things in his life. His job as a firefighter for the small town of Bedford and his six-year-old daughter. Since his wife walked out on the two of them when Trinity was just a baby, they’ve been a team of two.

Natalie Grimes understands disappointment, having tried out for the Olympics women's softball team and making it as far as an alternate. She's let go of that dream and loves her life in the small Tennessee town, and she’s happy to help out her brother's lifelong friend by taking care of his daughter when Cameron has to be at the fire station. Natalie and Cam get along well together and are terrific friends, until Cameron begins to wonder if they can’t be something more.

This author's name has popped up in my orbit a few times, so I thought I’d give her writing a try. And really, what’s not to love about a hawt firefighter single dad in a small town setting? This was a quick, easy, enjoyable romance for me and it just may be your next amazing reading escape!

COMBUST is a single dad, firefighter, BF’s little sister romance, tropes that often do well alone but together can be even better. And this story lives up to expectations. It’s a fast-paced, enjoyable read with some emotional ups and downs and conflicts which are sure to keep you involved from start to finish. The little girl is adorable and is certainly the foundation for Cameron’s and Natalie’s feelings for each other. But it’s their chemistry that finally draws them together but even that has its challenges. This is an entertaining and, at times, charming tale with a touch of angst that is sure to please.

This single dad romance is heartfelt, captivating and overflowing with emotions. Cam and his daughter have been hurt and Cam does not want to risk the heartache again. However when the one person who has stood beside both of them since that day is the one starting to own your heart, will you risk it all or break your own heart in the process. Natalie and Cameron have amazing chemistry and the connection to the characters is almost immediate. The relationship between Natalie and Trinity is one that steals your heart. An overall entertaining story that leaves you eager for more of the Bradford Station.

I was so excited about this book from the blurb and the tropes it promised. But man, it was such a disappointment. This was my first time reading this author and I found her writing wasn't for me. It felt like a good chunk of the story was missing, like there were missing pieces of their relationship that were skipped. I don't know how to explain it but it just did not feel right.

I did like the characters. They were super cute but unfortunately, the way the book was written just did not work for me.

Absolutely fell in love with Natalie and Cameron. They were the sweetest couple. Definitely had some hurdles to jump over before they could fully admit their feelings towards eachother. He had insecurities over his past failed marriage, and trying to be a good single dad, while she is trying to figure out what she wants to do with the rest of her life. Great read, can't wait for Chance's read next.

Let’s start with the cover because the pages inside are just as hot! Natalie is a beautifully written character with flaws and spunk. Cam is the single dad firefighter who is Natalie’s boss. I loved the story and had a hard time putting it down. I am excited to read the next book in the series.

Combust by Laramie Briscoe is book Two in the Bradford Station Series. This is the story of Cameron 'Cam' and Natalie 'Nat'. Cameron is a single dad to a young daughter after his wife left them. Natalie has been the babysitter and friend since the ex wife has left. Natalie has always seem to have feelings for Cameron but he has been wrapped up in being a Firefighter and father. But lately Cameron has stated to see her in a new light. Enjoyed this book.

*3.5 Star Reading*

From the get go, there wasn't any surprises on this series. It's a small town where the romance happens within the fire station. At the time, I had read something similar and was in the mood for more so I took a chance on a new to me author.

Book 1, The Rookie, didn't set my heart racing. It wasn't bad, but I just had a feeling that this wasn't for me. Surprise! I got roped back in by the blurb of Book 2. I enjoyed Combust, but I thought for all the delays, it could have been better. I have touched on a few things that I thought were noticeable below. It shouldn't deter your enjoyment, but they should be mentioned.

-A comfy read - I mentioned one time that I have a hard time writing reviews for books where there's nothing that I really loved or hated. It's the middle of the road where the story is what you expected. There's a few twists and turns, but nothing that's going to tip the scale in any direction. When I said this, I was told that the appropriate term is comfy. It's a comfy read. It's not that the book wasn't enjoyable, it was. It's just that there's nothing overly surprising. More like a warm blanket. Sometimes, you just need those.

-Trinity is Cam's six-year old girl. However, she reads as if she's an older child. I might have been able to overlook it and not said anything. There's a huge red flag that I just couldn't overlook based on my experiences. Nat and Cam are roped into coaching the school's softball team. While this wouldn't be that big of deal, but in elementary school, there's no organized teams. If you're going to play, it's going to be with a community team. If you've ever seen a parent's video, they can be very fun but disorganized.

-Cam and Nat's Relationship - Of course there's going to be multiple facets to their relationship. The first one is that Natalie is Cam's best friend's little sister. They're comfortable with each other. It then changes when Cam's wife abandons them and hires Nat as an assistant. When the story starts, it's been three years of this dynamic. From there, it just feels like warp speed. There was a better way to show the gradual shift in the emotional changes. It's like the book opens, life is normal, wham/bam, they're secretly together.

Transitions - I touched on this a little bit above, but I think it's a really good example of what I mean. The pacing of the book is very uneven. I hate to compare it to a roller coaster, but it's almost like that. Normal speed, hurry up to get over the hill, rush rush rush, slow down. It never evens out, and there's no emotional basis for it. It's just the way that it's written.

To elaborate: The book opens up as if it's just a normal day. Cam's at work. Trinity and Nat are at home, and everything is as it should be. The second chapter (maybe, but it's quick), Cam starts to realize that he doesn't want Nat to go. His feelings are starting to change, and he sees her more as a partner and not the nanny. By chapter three (again, exaggeration, but not really), they're having a secret relationship. It's very quick! The story then slows down until the next hill that they have to cross, and it's light speed again.

No Grovel - No nothing! It's pretty self-explanatory.

This is book two in The Bradford Station Series and it is Cameron and Natalie's story and omg it is definitely a must read. When Cameron's wife Rebecca decided that married life and being a mother wasn't for her because she wanted to be free to live her life how she wanted too and then handed over the papers to Cameron to dissolve there marriage and give up parental rights to Trinity there daughter he is shocked, angry and upset but determined to make sure that his daughter had a great life and plenty of love. Present day and Cameron knows how lucky he is to have Natalie in there lives as she has been there for them both every single step of the way and through all the ups and downs but recently he has started wanting her for more than Trinity's babysitter but doesn't know what to do as Natalie's brother is his best friend. Natalie has had feelings for Cameron for a long time but all he sees her as is Trinity's babysitter but maybe one day he will see her as something more but until then she will constantly be there for them regardless of what happens. Cameron and Natalie have a connection and chemistry between them that is so strong and intense and just when things start to move forward something happens causing everything that they have built together to call apart but will they get a second chance to sort out and put things right and get the happy ending that they both deserve and become a family. Wow Wow Wow this book takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions and had my heart breaking while holding my breath wondering what would happen next and what the outcome would be for them all and I couldn't put it down as it was a real page turner and so addictive that I read it in one sitting because the storyline pulled me in right from the start and kept you on the edge of your seat until the the last page. Laramie Briscoe is an amazing author and writer and the depth of her story's are what makes you go back time and time again to read her book's and I can't wait to read more.

I’ve been anxiously waiting for this book. This fast-paced single dad and nanny book was worth the wait.

After Cam’s wife divorces him and gives him full custody of their young daughter, Natalie steps in as her babysitter.  For three years, Natalie has cared for Trinity and been a friend to Cam, who happens to be her brother’s best friend until Cam walks into his bedroom to find Natalie standing in a towel.

Cam is dedicated, honorable, and caring.  I enjoyed seeing him attempt to fight his attraction, it reflected how important relationships and those he is close to are to him.  He doesn’t want to break his best friend’s trust or hurt Trinity, or Natalie if a romance doesn’t work out.  But when he falls, he falls.  It doesn’t take long for him to fall, thank goodness because I was on edge flipping those pages.  The romance has the characteristics of an insta-love story, but with how long Natalie has been a part of their life it wasn't.  Natalie was sweet, nurturing, and understanding.  I adored the special bond she had with Natalie, who was adorable.  This story is about two people facing insecurities and opening up their hearts to possibilities.  The family Cam, Natalie, and Trinity created was beautiful

This is a short book and I only wished it was longer.  There were a few scenes as their relationship evolved that I would have loved more details and building, but don’t worry, the flow of the story was well-paced with no gaps.  I just loved these characters and their chemistry and wanted more.

This is the second book in the Bradford Station series and can be read as a standalone.  Natalie’s brother Gauge is part of the storyline with his POV, reading the previous book gives a little more history…..but not necessary.  After the glimpse into the next book, I am already counting down with excitement.

Tropes:  single dad, nanny, small-town, firefighter, brother's best friend

This is an age gap, brothers best friend and single dad romance between Cameron and Natalie. This is told in duel POV by Cam and Natalie but we also get to see Gauge's POV, the best friend and Natalie's brother.

In this story Natalie is 24 and has been watching Cam's 6-year-old daughter for three years. Cam is a very dedicated father and firefighter, and he is coming out of a bad marriage. But he is in lust with his daughter's caretaker, Natalie. But there are obstacles and a big one is her brother, Gauge.

Honestly, I did not understand why Gauge was an issue. He loves and respects Cam and Cam is this awesome dad and not a player at all. But he also is in a lot of pain and recovering from a painful accident, so I did understand not wanting to stress him out.

Natalie on one hand is very mature and a wonderful caretaker of Trinity, Cam's daughter. But on the other hand, she is at a crossroads in her life, not knowing what she wants to do with it. I loved that she freely gave her heart to Cam and Trinity, but she also was confused about what she wanted to do with her life. I really loved that she was not 100% together.

Cam tries his best to be the best dad, friend and boss to Natalie, Gauge and Trinity. I loved that he opened his eyes and started to see that he deserved more in life and seeing the treasure that was Natalie.

I adored this story so much. The author is really awesome at creating these vulnerable heroes but also making them very strong as well. I am truly loving this series and cannot wait to read Chance's story next.

Cameron (Cam) is a hot single dad and firefighter. His ex left him and his daughter without looking back. He noe has guards up around his heart, and devotes his free time to his young daughter, Trinity. His best friends’s sister, Natalie (Nat), has been a great help, watching over and caring for his little girl since his ex-wife left him years ago. Cam has always thought of her as a kid sister, forbidden because of his friendship with her brother, but when he accidentally catches sight of her wrapped in a towel, he certainly isn’t thinking of her as a sister. Now Cam can’t stop fantasizing about getting Nat naked and in his bed. He doesn’t have a clue that Nat has crushed on him for years, but has never had the courage to tell him how she feels.

Their relationship does take a decidedly more intimate turn, but doubts, fears and her brother’s disapproval weigh heavily on their shoulders. When Cam takes a giant step back and forces distance between them, Nat is hurt and begins to think that just like her Olympic hopes, she has lost another dream before it could come true. Will she and Cam ever get their own happily ever after? Young Trinity sure hopes so.

I found the characters to be fascinating and their story to be both interesting and enjoyable. Little Trinity is a scene stealer and wraps everyone around her finger. I loved the small town setting of this book. The closeness of the firefighters and the way they look output for each other is heartwarming. I want to read Gauge’s story and and discover who will claim his heart.

This second book in the Bradford Station series was a pretty decent read. It also happened to feature one of my favorite tropes (best friend's sibling). Add in the fact that Cameron is a firefighter, and it is dang appealing. The romance between Natalie and Cameron happened quickly, and you could feel the connection that they had.

I fully enjoyed Cameron and Natalie's story. From the way their relationship started, to the family-like feel, to the drama, to the reconnection, it all was so good. Except for one part. That would be Gauge.

Guage is Natalie's brother, and he also happens to be friends with Cameron. From the way he found out about the relationship, to the way he mended his issues with Cameron, just didn't feel right. It didn't feel "age appropriate" so to speak. It felt a bit juvenile. Once Gauge explained himself, I understood where he was coming from, but again something was off.

The other part that I struggled with was regarding Trinity. Maybe it's because I have a 6 year old, so I'm doing some comparison, but I don't know. I feel like during parts of the story, Trinity was meant to be an older character. More like a tween than a 6 year old. But everything that happened just didn't line up with the character's age. (unless this is an incredibly advanced child)

I did like the small town aspect, and how everyone was able to read Natalie so easily. Gauge's situation has me curious how/when healing will take place. Will we get his story? Time will tell. Also the set up for the next book? That has my curiosity piqued.

Camerons wife left him, with his daughter Trinity, when she was 3 yrs old. Natalie has been Trinity's babysitter ever since. As a firefighter, Camerons working hours means he's not always around to put her to bed, take her to school and all those other times that a father would like to be there. He is thankful the Natalie is there, to fill in when he cant, but one morning when he see's Natalie coming out of the shower, wrapped in just a towel, he realises that his feelings for her are more than just loving that she is there for Trinity. But, her brother is his best friend and fellow firefighter who is recovering from injuries sustained in a nasty forest fire, and he's sworn off being with any women after his wife left them, his fear is for not just himself but Trinity also losing another person in their lifes. Natalie has become the mother figure in Trinitys life, and Cameron is frightened to lose her and lose that stability for Trinity. Natalie has spent the last 3 years looking after Trinity and for a lot of that time has held a torch for Cameron. It's not until that day Cameron see's her coming out the shower, that she dares to hope that he might have those feelings for her.

Combust tells Camerons and Natalies story, which is almost sugar sweet, but Trinity steals the show. The "over protective brother, you don't mess with my sister" line is there, however, I would have liked more to made of this aspect as it was pretty much a one line and done followed by a one line and alls good. Apart from that it was an great, easy, comfortable, one sitting read.

Book two in the Bradford Station series features Cameron, a single dad firefighter and Natalie, a family friend who is now nanny to Cam's little girl. Natalie is younger than Cameron, plus his best friend's little sister, so we've got a lot of tropes going on in one story.
This isn't a bad thing by any means. I love Natalie and her relationship with Trinity, who's been lacking a mother figure most of her life. Natalie fills that, while always being cognizant of the fact that she and Cam are just friends...although she's always dreamed of more.
Cameron finally sees her in the same light, but he's also shackled by loyalty to her brother, and he's never risking a relationship again. That, of course, changes, and they do embark on at least a physical connection at first. Naturally, someone comes along to pop that bubble and strife ensues.
I liked this storyline and the characters, especially Natalie. It was well written and kept me engaged and turning pages while I read it in one sitting. As a longtime reader of romance, nothing is going to "surprise" you about the plot, but it will definitely keep you entertained. I love these kinds of stories because while there's drama, it's not so angst-filled that it's a constant roller coaster ride. Both types have their place and my ereader is filled with them all. Combust was the right book at the right time for me. I'll be back for book three...and any other Laramie Briscoe book she's working on. She quickly became a must-read author for me.

💯 PERFECTION, I love a single dad romance, add a firefighter and the brother best friend angle, and you have me hooked, but Laramie Briscoe not only delivered in the swoon-worthy arena, but she also delivered a beautiful and, in places emotional story to go along with it, this is one epic read you don't want to miss.

Natalie has been babysitting Cameron's young daughter Trinity since she was a toddler, she is also the sister of Cameron's best friend Gauge, for three years, nothing has happened between the two, but now the tide is changing one bath towel moment, and it is as if the university aligned for this couple, only trouble is Trinity's brother also a firefighter was badly hurt in a fire, and his road to recovery sees him in a difficult place, finding out that his best friend and sister are together couldn't come at a worse time.

The chemistry between Natalie and Cameron is off the charts, but it is not only that which makes Combust a must-read, it is the connection that just floats off the page with Trinity, little bits here and there that just warmed my heart.

I loved the scenes with Cameron and his little girl, these are wonderful but heartwrenching, especially when Cameron talks to her teachers, but she has a great, sassy side which I am sure comes from her time with Natalie.

If you like heart-stopping romances with a perfect storyline, then Combust is for you.

This is the 2nd book in the Bradford Station series featuring Cameron and Natalie's emotional story. This story features a few different tropes single dad, brothers best friend, small town romance and firefighter romance that combine to make this into the beautiful story that it is. Cameron is blindsided when his wife walks out on him telling him she's not cut out for family life or motherhood so she's signing away her parental rights. She tells him that because of his job with the fire station she arranged for Natalie to be there to babysit their daughter Trinity who's only a baby when her mother walks out. Natalie is Cameron's best friend Gauge's younger sister so he knows that Trinity couldn't be in better hands. Fast forward several years and Natalie is still babysitting Trinity and trying to hide the fact that she's in love with Cam who doesn't see what's right in front of his face. Cam is afraid of opening up and being vulnerable again after his wife abandoned him and Trinity. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this book to see what happens with Cam,Natalie and Trinity. Will they get to be a family despite the obstacles that they're facing? This book is so beautifully written that you could feel their emotions Ms. Briscoe did a great job writing this story. I would definitely recommend reading this book. I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion of this book.

This second installment of this series was a quick and okay read for me. In this single dad romance I had some high hopes especially after reading Menace from the Moonshine Task force series but in the end, I just ended up with more mixed feelings about this series.

In this second book we meet Cameron, single dad to Trinity and firefighter in the Bradford Station fire department who has had feelings for his daughter's care taker for a while - unfortunately she also happens to be the sister of his best friend.

Natalie, Trinity's caretaker and sister of his best friend. She is a former Olympic level athlete who now assists with coaching Trinity's softball team. She too has had feelings for Cameron for a while that she had not acted on.

In this single dad romance, this pair had great chemistry once they both got on the same page as their feelings but it also had an insta love feel to the story since once they gave in to their feelings, everything moved really fast as this was also a really quick read. I will say that there were a few small things in this story that I had a hard time wrapping my head around and I also felt that everything was too perfect to start with until the one conflict between the pair that they suddenly resolved without speaking to each other.

Overall, this was an okay read for me.
