FIVE HURT STARS for Donna and Hendrix 💙🖤💙🖤!!!

After reading the first book "Like You Care" from the "Devilbend Dynasty" series, I've got an opinion of Kaydence’s writing style and what to expect from her next books.
I have to admit she didn’t disappoint me!
I truly fell in love with this book, especially with Donna and Hendrix!
On the contrary, she intrigued me with the characterization of the main characters and the plot itself, which kept me with countless questions after every chapter.
"Like You Hurt" is a dark high school bully romance with a lot of angst and steamy parts between Donna and Hendrix but also emotional moments.
Donna is a female character who is at first glance the perfect girl who holds control in all parts of her life just to fulfill her parents' expectations.
But behind all that facade hides a girl who is eager for adrenaline and danger, which is why she hides a secret that could cost her everything she has built over the years.
Hendrix is a male character who decides to change after a tragic incident that brought him back to reality and after which he decides that he won't return to his old habits and life.
But everything changes when he meets Donna who is exactly all he has left behind.
Donna and Hendrix are a couple fated from the start to end up together.
Their relationship is filled with ups and downs due to their stubbornness and resistance to the feelings they develop towards each other.
But in the end, they realize that they need to give up on their feelings and that a relationship can only elevate them, not destroy them.
If you love a dark high school bully romance and also love Kaydence's writing style, then this is the book you should read next!!!

The Devilbend Dynasty series is one that quite simply has put a smile on my face. After reading Like You Care I was immediately excited to read the next book in the series. Donna was a standout secondary character in Like You Care and she didn't disappoint in her own story.
Kaydence Snow has such a comfortable writing style. I don't know how else to describe it. Her writing just feels so natural. It is witty without being too over the top. When you open up one of her books you just want to kick your shoes off and make yourself at home in the pages. This book had my head spinning with all of the plot twists. I was on the edge of my seat anticipating everything. I was really pleased with the way the author plotted out the book.
Donna and Hendrix were such wonderful and complex characters. They had so much depth and so much character growth in the story. I really loved that they were not without flaws. The author wasn't afraid to show their gritty side right along with the shiny side. Both Donna and Hendrix battle their own personal demons in the story and I really enjoyed the journey that both of them took. The secondary characters in this series are fantastic! I am so very thrilled to read the final two books in this series.
Donna and Hendrix had a love story that felt so genuine. I really loved that they could tap into the pieces of each other that no one else picked up on. They were so in sync with one another because they shared many of the same demons. It really made them quite the pair. Not to mention the fact that their chemistry was dynamite. Their banter and back and forth had me fanning myself. They had such an intense connection.
Overall, this is a story that really grabbed me from the first page. These fantastic characters, compelling plot, and top-notch writing really make this book shine. I am looking forward to the next book in this series!

When I finished Like You Care, I was so excited to get back into the Devilbend Dynasty world and read Donna’s story and whilst I loved Donna and her strong and independent personality, my god she frustrated me to no end. The further I got into the book, the more you get to know her deep down underneath the tough and impenetrable walls she has around herself, but the journey getting there was a little bit exhausting. She is independent, loyal, fiercely protective, feisty and a complete spitfire. But she also has a vulnerable side that had my heart softening towards her. Donna thinks she needs to be perfect all the time, be the strongest and responsible friend all the time but it leaves her feeling utterly exhausted and trapped.
I LOVED Hendrix. He holds so much guilt over a mistake he made in his past. His guilt consumes him, but it did open his eyes to his previous actions and makes him re-evaluate his lifestyle. He was a reformed bad boy, but still struggled with a recklessness deep inside him that eventually draws him and Donna together. Hendrix’s Aunt Hannah needs a shout out. I mean seriously, everyone needs an Aunt Hannah in their lives. She shows Hendrix love, affection and support when he needs it most, especially since he has absent parents.
Hendrix and Donna both understand each other on a level like no other. They share the same society pressures to perform and act in a certain way and they both feel the swirling and intense feelings to be reckless and let loose and just be free. The used their anger towards each other as a foreplay, making every interaction explosive as hell. The sexual tension built from anger and the push and pull of denying their feelings is almost blinding when they finally crash together. I adored their tender moments and felt frustrated and saddened by the moments ruined by defence mechanisms and stubbornness.
Overall, I really enjoyed Like You Hurt and cannot wait to see who will get their story told next. The unknown and suspense of the reoccurring enemy has my cogs spinning and my anticipation building for the next instalment in the Devilbend Dynasty series.

Not my thing
Since I really liked the one the last one, I figured I try this. Donna was great to her cousin in the previous book, but I missed a personality in this one. She was a little too much “bored housewife” for someone in her teens. She isn’t trying to break out of the spoiled rich girl mold in a real way that actually involves work. She just keeps planning to marry a guy in the future (the boring guy her parents approve of) while sneaking of to clubs to screw random guys whose names that she doesn’t know in the alleyway for some excitement. That’s it... that’s her thing. And she’s done it a lot. She’s more of a cliche than anything, “ I drink, I smile smoke, I screw random guys”. Her personality just kind of sucks. If it wasn’t for her loyalty to her cousin who was from the weirdest side of the tracks, I don’t think I could have found a single positive quality.
The only difference between her and the typical villain is that the author said she is the heroine. And overall I didn’t find anything worth reading about. The hero was interesting, right up until he falls for the basic chick whose only real qualities are good looks, being rich and magic vagina syndrome. Someone else may like this, Overall she could have been worse, but she was just too basic for me to take seriously. It’s amazing to me that the same author wrote the first book and this one. They are so different!

(4.5 stars) Welcome back to the Devilbend Dynasty- I’m loving this series and loved Donna and Hendrix’s story. We saw Queen Donna make grown men proverbially pee their pants in Book 1, so I knew we were in for a treat with Like Your Hurt. And, I knew Kaydence would have to create a pretty fantastic male lead to match Donna’s fire. Like Donna, this story is fiery and passionate, complicated and gritty.
This time we spend our story with the prep school kids- Donna is queen of the school, and new kid Hendrix intrigues her. Too bad he isn’t interested in being friends- he’s hiding secrets and just wants to skate by unnoticed. Donna notices him though, and his disinterest ruffles her feathers. Thus begins an angsty push-pull, love-hate journey between these two characters who are so similar and so in need of truly being seen but also so threatened by what they see in each other. Their paths keep crossing- an every time it is fireworks.
Donna- she’s a FORCE. She’s complicated. I vacillated between adoring her and being frustrated with her- which I think is the point. Donna is trying to figure herself out- she’s living two personality realities, but the central thread is that she needs control in both of her realities. Hendrix threatens her control- because he sees her for who she really is, he challenges her. Donna doesn’t do well when her control is threatened, and, thus, she often acts with resistance and denial, and at times, jerkiness. Hendrix brings out the best and worst in her. At her best, she’s smart, bold, fierce, independent, loyal, and driven. But, she’s trapped within the perfectionist facade, the Queen Bee persona, that she’s created for herself. Her “dark Donna” alternate life is her way of breaking out of that mold, a self destructive therapy that leaves her feeling alive, subverting expectations of herself. Dark Donna owns her desires, her needs- and she likes the risk that goes with it. I loved these parts of Donna, but as she’s trying to go through a metamorphosis to marry both sides of her identity, she frustrates me some- she’s not always kind (she says some very hurtful things to Hendrix, which she feels bad for), she’s defensive and combative, and she’s stubborn- refusing to see beyond herself. Again, this is part of the journey- she has to reconcile these negative coping strategies to realize she doesn’t like that version of herself- and she gets there...but that means there are times when we don’t like her (a few moments in particular).
Hendrix is a dreamboat the entire book- what wonderful and compelling characters. His journey mirrors Donna’s, but he’s ahead of her- he’s already battled the different versions of himself, suffered the consequences of giving into the parts of himself he liked less, and has learned his lesson. He’s evolved and grown- and he recognizes aspects of himself in Donna. So, when they aren’t bugging each other, he’s trying to help her- she just doesn’t always want it. I loved Hendrix so much- he’s made terrible mistakes, but he’s owned them, has suffered for them. He’s self-aware, selfless, and kind. And when he opens up- my heart exploded. He’s somehow this tough, stoic guy that is also a bleeding heart, vulnerable and raw and exposed.
The romance is rocky and challenging, imperfect like our characters- both characters are stubborn and both are hiding huge secrets. The attraction is immediate, the physical chemistry is SCORCHING, but it takes a minute for the emotional connection to evolve as neither Donna or Hendrix are very trusting. The action at the end was surprising and fast paced, and I’m still so curious where KS is going with all this Bestlyfe intrigue.
Fans of Mena and Hunter will be elated to find them happy and wonderful here. Kaydence smartly juxtaposes their personalities, and their story, with Hendrix and Donna’s- here we have more gritty, edgier characters, and a darker, more gritty romance with it. Mena and Hunter’s roles in this story made me love them even more- especially Mena, who is more and more embracing her strength.
Donna and Hendrix have an angsty, complicated love story that is emotionally gripping and complex. Both characters are so layered, so compellingly imperfect, that you’ll find yourself reading this is one sitting. I’m loving how Kaydence is exploring the theme of identity in this series- the extent to which your identity is defined by yourself or by others, and in this book, the trappings of self-imposed facades and the liberating experience of self-acceptance. The character growth in Like Your Hurt is what really shines- the growth that can be found when someone truly sees you, and helps you see yourself. Looking forward to what’s next in this series!

Note: This is the second installment in the Devilbend Dynasty series and can be read on its own, but is better experienced after Like You Care.
My first taste of Kaydence Snow came in the form of the very first installment of this series and you can say I’m interested to see where their read-ship takes us. I loved Like You Care, but one of my favorite parts of that book was Donna and the two other girls in Mena’s group. I knew Donna’s was coming next and what Mena lacked in confidence and spunk, Donna was the one that was going to deliver in spectacular fashion. I mean I did preorder this book and I RARELY preorder anything (especially if it isn’t from one of my established favs). I had a feeling this story would be different than the first BUT would still have the same great writing style that hooked me in the first place. Would it be another winner from Snow? In so many ways this is yet another example of what a talented storyteller she is, however my obsession with the story & characters of Devilbend Dynasty was slightly dimmed by how my once favorite heroine in the series ended up being one of my most hated.....ever. I loved the story, but hated one of the main characters.....how does that even happen?

This one is an angsty enemies to lovers/bully romance featuring Donna (one of Mena’s cousins) and newcomer Hendrix, as he realizes that sometimes plans must be changed to save someone from themselves.

The Main Players:
Donna Mead: ⭐️ Donna is the older sister of Harlow, and together along with cousin Mena and best friend Amaya make up the Devilbend Dynasty. She is queen bee of Fulton Academy, where she is the picture of perfection and where everyone bows down because they either fear her or want to be her friend. With a future carefully mapped out and a present where she is always the responsible one, she feels like she’s suffocating so she finds relief in a shady & dangerous place. But when Hendrix Hawthorn shows up at her school and her “sanctuary”, he also begins to see her in ways no one else has and ways that don’t make her comfortable. She is a total bully and out of control but is a pro at hiding it....she’s confident and opinionated and isn’t afraid to speak how she feels. What broke my heart is as much as I absolutely loved Donna in Mena’s book, in her own she was such an awful person. She isn’t likeable at all and it’s hard to have any sympathy for her.
Hendrix Hawthorn: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hendrix Hawthorn is new to Fulton Academy, there to finish out his senior year as he lives with his aunt and anxious for a fresh start. Coming from New York, he has a troubled past and a dark secret but is determined to change his life around and not focus on his wealthy yet unloving parents or the life he left behind. His intentions are to stay invisible, but for someone as gorgeous & confident as Hendrix that’s impossible. He hates Donna at first for what she represents, but after uncovering her secret spot and witnessing her reckless behavior, he can’t help but want to save her from making those same life-altering mistakes he made. The more she pushes, he pulls and no matter how complicated she makes his life he can’t seem to give up on her. He is patient, determined, understanding, and a really good guy. I loved Hendrix and honestly thought he deserved better than Donna in the end.
That I liked:
Bully Switch-Up: This is like a complete change up from what we typically see in HS bully/enemies to lovers books. It’s rare that it’s the girl that rules the school and is deadset on putting the guy in his place or teaching him to bow down. I was a fan of the concept (just not Donna’s delivery).
Hendrix: Okay so he’s no saint and has moments he can be a little mean too, but rarely are they moments he instigated or didn’t do out of necessity. The more the story went along the more I loved him. He is a good guy with a bad past he learned from and he should be given a medal for the way he is so determined to help Donna even when she is absolutely vile to him.....

Mystery of Hendrix’s Past: I really loved the mystery that surrounded Hendrix. Obviously he hated who he was before moving there and that same hate transferred to Donna bc of what she represented, but I liked that we weren’t really given the full details up front. The same goes for exactly what he did that caused him to end up there. But when everything is revealed?? The delivery is heartbreaking and made it all worth the wait.
Support Characters: I was of course a fan of all 3 other girls, but especially Mena because she is still the same sweet good-hearted person she was in her story. I was scared when she went to Fulton Academy she may change BUT her & Turner are the nicest most decent characters in the series. However, the surprise fav of the series is Hendrix’s aunt Kate......
“We’ll work up to it.” She waved her hand. “I’ll get a stepping stool to prepare.” “A stepping stool?” “Yeah. You’re way too fucking tall. I need to assert my adult dominance by gaining a height advantage.”
.....I LOVED how she doesn’t treat him like a chore or a bother, but is genuinely interested in giving him the kind of family love & home life he hasn’t gotten. How she never tries to find things he does wrong (which isn’t anything really) BUT instead tries to get him to see every way he’s turned everything around.
What I didn’t:
Donna: I HATED how she treated Hendrix despite everything. I HATED how she acted like he wasn’t worthy of being in her presence in public. I HATED how she acted like he was the one with the attitude problem. The things he does for her and yet she is so hateful to him. But I held on to a sliver of hope she would redeem herself....
....that is until a singular scene at 69% in the way she lashes out at him in his most vulnerable moment makes her quiet possibly the most disgusting heroine I’ve ever read about. IDC how scared she is, how “awful” her life is with her amazing TRUE friends, loving & present family, her rich & entitled life, the “power” & “pressure” she forces on herself bc she’s too much of a puss to be who she wants to be.....there was no redemption for her, nothing at all she did at any point in this book or could do in what was left of it to make me think she was deserving of getting a HEA with Hendrix.
Parole vs Bail: I DO NOT want to get picky, but I hate when an author misuses a word instead of looking it up to make sure it fits or means what they are using it for.
“....out on parole by arguing he was a victim of his father as much as anyone, but he was being strictly monitored until his trial date.”
He would have gotten out on bond/out on bail/posted bail/bonded out/bailed out/pretrial release.....SO MANY DIFFERENT CORRECT WAYS TO SAY THIS, its NOT parole. Parole is after you’ve been convicted and sentenced....usually after serving a certain amount of time. Something so simple not to eff up with a quick google search.
Her “Secret”: It was so anti-climatic and a little dull. IDK, the blurb made me feel like it was going to be a bigger deal than it was. It was just hyped to be way more than it ended up being.
The Verdict:
I’m on the fence on this one.....as much as I absolutely LOVED the story and Hendrix, Donna alone was able to pull some pretty strong negative emotions & feelings from me from the very beginning until the very end. I could say she ruined what could have been a 5 star read but I’m not sure I would have loved everything else as much as I did if it wasn’t for my hate for Donna. Should you read it? If you know going in this isn’t Like You Care and that the Donna from there isn’t the Donna here then sure.....it wasn’t a book I regret reading. BUT be fully warned, Donna is likely to cause some rage-filled reading moments and it’s not the redeemable kind. Now I’m just holding out hope Harlow pulls off a Mena-level win for this series next.

My first taste of Kaydence Snow came in the form of the very first installment of this series and you can say I’m interested to see where their read-ship takes us. I loved Like You Care, but one of my favorite parts of that book was Donna and the two other girls in Mena’s group. I knew Donna’s was coming next and what Mena lacked in confidence and spunk, Donna was the one that was going to deliver in spectacular fashion. I mean I did preorder this book and I RARELY preorder anything (especially if it isn’t from one of my established favs). I had a feeling this story would be different than the first BUT would still have the same great writing style that hooked me in the first place. Would it be another winner from Snow? In so many ways this is yet another example of what a talented storyteller she is, however my obsession with the story & characters of Devilbend Dynasty was slightly dimmed by how my once favorite heroine in the series ended up being one of my most hated.....ever. I loved the story, but hated one of the main characters.....how does that even happen?

The Main Players:
Donna Mead: ⭐️ Donna is the older sister of Harlow, and together along with cousin Mena and best friend Amaya make up the Devilbend Dynasty. She is queen bee of Fulton Academy, where she is the picture of perfection and where everyone bows down because they either fear her or want to be her friend. With a future carefully mapped out and a present where she is always the responsible one, she feels like she’s suffocating so she finds relief in a shady & dangerous place. But when Hendrix Hawthorn shows up at her school and her “sanctuary”, he also begins to see her in ways no one else has and ways that don’t make her comfortable. She is a total bully and out of control but is a pro at hiding it....she’s confident and opinionated and isn’t afraid to speak how she feels. What broke my heart is as much as I absolutely loved Donna in Mena’s book, in her own she was such an awful person. She isn’t likeable at all and it’s hard to have any sympathy for her.
Hendrix Hawthorn: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hendrix Hawthorn is new to Fulton Academy, there to finish out his senior year as he lives with his aunt and anxious for a fresh start. Coming from New York, he has a troubled past and a dark secret but is determined to change his life around and not focus on his wealthy yet unloving parents or the life he left behind. His intentions are to stay invisible, but for someone as gorgeous & confident as Hendrix that’s impossible. He hates Donna at first for what she represents, but after uncovering her secret spot and witnessing her reckless behavior, he can’t help but want to save her from making those same life-altering mistakes he made. The more she pushes, he pulls and no matter how complicated she makes his life he can’t seem to give up on her. He is patient, determined, understanding, and a really good guy. I loved Hendrix and honestly thought he deserved better than Donna in the end.
That I liked:
Bully Switch-Up: This is like a complete change up from what we typically see in HS bully/enemies to lovers books. It’s rare that it’s the girl that rules the school and is deadset on putting the guy in his place or teaching him to bow down. I was a fan of the concept (just not Donna’s delivery).
Hendrix: Okay so he’s no saint and has moments he can be a little mean too, but rarely are they moments he instigated or didn’t do out of necessity. The more the story went along the more I loved him. He is a good guy with a bad past he learned from and he should be given a medal for the way he is so determined to help Donna even when she is absolutely vile to him.....

Donna's first glimpse of the new transfer intrigues her. Too bad he seems to hold her in as much contempt as she holds him. But they shouldn't be so quick to fight each other considering they will end up having the same goal - take down the people causing so much havoc in their community, the same people who were so horrible to Donna's cousin Mena in Like You Care.
I remember being really fascinated by Donna's HBIC attitude while reading Like You Care, but I had no idea how deep her backstory or why she had that sorta entitled attitude. Quite frankly she was bitchy, both in Mena's story, and here in her own, but if anyone deserves that attitude, it's her. She had a lot of pressure on her from all around, and she just did not know how to deal with it.
I love that Hendrix is absolutely 100% her perfect soulmate. He had demons as deep, or deeper, than hers, and dealt with them in different ways, and that's why he got Donna, why he understood her so perfectly. I loved Mena and Turner together, and I'm happy to read that Donna and Hendrix are just as good, just as delicious and damaged together as her cousin.

We're diving straight back into the Devilsbend Dynasty world and we're back with Donna's story and y'all, I'm surprised at how excited I was for this one. Not my usual trope or cup of tea but yeah, wow. This was a good one.
Like You Hurt is the second in this series and what a journey. Once again Kaydence Snow gave us a story chocked to the gills with angst, drama, heat, intensity, and ALLLLLLL of the feels. She is a real stickler at making my heart get sooooo slayed at times.
Donna and Hendrix were everything in a whole lot of ways. And their journey? All kinds of complicated but no less addicting.
This is an enemies to lovers YA romance with a few twists to make it stand out.
I recommend this book.

5 TOUCH MY HEART STARS!! OMG....This one touched my heart with so many emotions all the way through. Hendrix and Donna will grab your heart and squeeze it, but you will love every minute of it. This is one book your will want to read, it is so worth your time and money.

Like You Hurt by Kaydence Snow is the second book in the Devilbend Dynasty series, and we get Donna’s story this time.
Hendrix Hawthorn is the new guy at Fulton Academy, and he’s got Donna Mead rather intrigued, but also extremely frustrated.
Donna has her secrets (which peaked my interest immediately in the first chapter), but she’s also the one in the know about everyone and anything, so Hendrix is in her sights as the new guy. But then again Hendrix also had secrets to hold on to. The battle between the two makes for a great read. The interchanging POVs are fantastic as well, as it gives you insight into both of the main characters thoughts and feelings.
Fingers crossed there’s at least 2 more books to come with Amaya and Harlow’s stories.
Note: Like You Hurt can be read as a stand-alone, but I’d definitely recommend picking up Like You Care first. Whilst the first book is a bully romance, Like You Hurt doesn’t continue down the same path as it’s an enemies to lovers story instead. The stories do interconnect with the characters, but there’s no requirement to have read the first book as the leads are different.

After reading Like You Care I couldn't wait for Like You Hurt.
And I absolutely loved it!
Donna has it all - the looks, the money and the power. She's always miss perfect and little by little she's getting more and more tired of it. She rebels in a form of sneaking out in a club during the weekends, dressed imperfectly, she acts like it's her last day to live and she really seases the day!
Hendrix is more similiar to her then she would like to admit. He's rich, he once had it all, but now he just wants to live and to forget.
He goes to her school, and by turning her down, he makes himself her target. She bullies him in all the harmless ways. After all, the whole school listens to her and she doesn't even have to lift a finger to do some harm.
One night he goes to the club... and that one night changes everything.
I loved Donna and Hendrix, she was so sweet even when she was acting as if she wasn't. And Hendrix!!! He was my favourite. Such a great guy.

Like You Hurt is the second book in the Devilbend Dynasty series and tells the story of Donna and Hendrix.
Like You Hurt is the second book I’ve read by Kaydence Snow and I think it’s my favourite one so far. I was really interested in Donna’s story because she seems like a bitch and I wanted to get to know her. I was really surprised when I started reading about Donna and her other side that no one knows about. I loved getting to know Donna and Hendrix, they’re so funny together.
Donna has another side that no one knows about and I was really shocked. Donna is so different from all the other ‘rich girls’ I’ve read about. Hendrix was an interesting character too because you want to know what he did wrong. I think they’re both complex characters, but they both changed towards the end of the book. I really liked Donna and Hendrix together, and i enjoyed reading about them.
Like You Hurt was such a good Romance read. It was addictive and amazing, I couldn’t stop reading. I really wanted to know more about Donna and Hendrix, and I wanted to find out their secrets. I think that Like You Hurt is the best book in the Devilbend Dynasty series so far, and I’m really curious about Like You Should. Like You Should is going to be about Harlow, and I cannot wait to read her story!

Right away, I'm deviating from this book by saying that I was not the biggest fan of the first book, Like You Care, mainly because of Turner. But I liked Turner so much in this book.
Anyways, Donna is a POWERHOUSE! I adore her character. Her personality. HER.
Don't get me wrong, I was frustrated with her at some points but it just made her better. It made her real. Donna is the "perfect" daughter, the "perfect" student, the "perfect sister, the "perfect" everything. She's trying to deal with the weight of being the best when Hendrix comes out of nowhere and it makes her reevaluate. Yes, she's perfect but it's not real, it's a front.
And Hendrix. Oh, Hendrix, Hendrix, Hendrix. He is past being "perfect" and is now just trying to be "better". He knows how Donna is feeling, he's gone through it. Their lives are so similar and he doesn't want Donna to go down the road he did. They don't always get along, but in the small moments they do, he wants to help her. He may not be perfect but he is EVERYTHING. He is the "bad boy" with a heart of gold. I kept falling in love with him over and over. Every time I thought his character couldn't get better, he DID.
Holy smokes, the romance was Magnifique. Donna and Hendrix are both incredibly stubborn so it just made the hate-to-love so deliciously sweet. I loved the build of it. In a sense, it is kind of slow-burn but it's so satisfying. Watching them learn to trust each other was beautiful and I am so glad I continued with this series.

Donna and Hendrix destroyed me in the best way possible. I loved these two. They are two broken people who find comfort in one another.
Donna has a loving family, a great group of friends, a future all planned out and she rules Fulton Academy. However, she is also a living another life. A life that no one else in her close circle knows about. I loved her, even though she frustrated me at times. You can’t help but love her and want her to be happy throughout the story. Hendrix is new to Fulton Academy. He isn’t there to make friends. He just wants to get good grades and fly under the radar, unfortunately that doesn’t happen the moment Donna and her crew spot him. Hendrix’s past is heartbreaking, I felt for him and can’t even begin to imagine what he must feel. He see’s something in Donna, he see’s glimpses of his old life and wants to help her, he wants to save her from herself.
I loved the chemistry and the tension between Donna and Hendrix from the start. You could feel the energy between them jumping off the pages. They were addicting and it was hard to turn away. They way that Hendrix tries to help Donna is amazing. You can see how caring he is and how much he has changed as a person from his old life.

I really liked Donna in the first book of this series and was definitely wanting to get some more backstory for her. Like You Hurt not only delves deep into her mind, but also the main man- Hendrix- and it is SO GOOD!!! My gosh, I freaking loved this book. You never know what is going on behind the curtains with people and this is definitely an example of this. Just because someone leads a "charmed" life does not mean that things are all sunshine and roses.
All in all, I freaking adored this book! Donna and Hendrix are two enemies that REALLY do not like each other, but are still drawn to them. Watching how everything unfolds was extremely gratifying and SO GOOD! I loved the steamy parts but I liked the heartfelt ones as well, this is a tight group and I really can't wait to get even more from these awesome characters. I give this 4.5 outta 5 stars and am eager to get more from this world and author!

Wow. Okay let me start off by saying I loved Donna after what she did for Mena, but boy howdy we really get to see her in this book, pardon my French but she is a rank bitch. Lol she doesn’t even think there is anything wrong with her behavior.
However as with most books it’s all about character growth. There is tons of growth from both her and Hendrix. Talk about learning more about ones own self. I typically don’t like it when the heroine is such a grade A bitch, but I knew there was more to her.
Hendrix is such an enigma, but ya know the boy, he’s got a big fat giant horrid secret. Wanna know what it is? Tough, read the book you won’t be sorry. Hendrix is as prickly as a dang cactus and for good reason. He and Donna butt heads like two billy goats fighting over a good meal. Anywho read this book, I can’t tell you that enough, while it’s connected to another book, you don’t have to read it to enjoy this book. Told in dual POV.

When I read Like You Care a couple of months back, I fell in love. With this author's writing, with Devilbend and the crazy kids that call it home. I didn't think anything could top it and was fixing to put it high up on my Best of 2020 list.

You meet Donna in LYC (she's the MC's cousin) and TBH she's a bit of a bitch. And in this she still is, but you find out why. And she meets her match in Hendrix, a transplant with a big chip on his shoulder.
Again I went into this expecting one thing and got all my expectations turned on their heads and got given something BETTER.

I connected on such a level with Donna, it’s crazy! The suffocation of trying to please was something I worked through as a teenager/young adult and Kaydence Snow wrote about Donna dealing with it spectacularly. I just love Donna’s take no prisoners mentality and just her all around confidence but I absolutely love that she found someone she could be vulnerable with. Hendrix was the perfect male character. He was literally everything a girl could want. He went down the destructive path but was determined to do better and be better. I just loved his character. His personality really shined through and left you with this amazing person. I am so excited to see what Kaydence does next in this series.

Another great read in this series with some really good plotlines that make the reader think. I loved Donna, who was a secondary character in the first book, and she always put others before herself. Born into a privileged life, she bore the weight of responsibility and expectation, and yet she couldn't;t but fight for the real her, the one that she kept hidden inside and away from everyone else.
I adored Hendrix, he was a man that never gave up despite wanting too. He was a man learning from past mistakes and hell-bent on not repeating them, but Donna was making him tread a fine line.
Absolutely loved it.

I am really liking this series and am glad that I read the first book, Like You Care, before starting this. You are introduced to the Devilbend Dynasty girls. Donna is fierce and you don't want to cross her or mess with her friends. I knew her story would be good but Kaydence took it to a whole other level! Enter Hendrix and the angsty goodness! There is a definitely pull between them and crazy chemistry. You will be taken on a crazy ride. I love how these books are not only interconnected but also a continual story.

Really enjoyed Donna and Hendrixs story. Donna is queen bee at her school and has a life most envy only it’s smoke and mirrors and when Hendrix shows up at her school at impressed by Donna or her antics she now has a target but when they spot each other in the only place Donna can find solace all bets are off!

I didn't feel any connection between them like at all. The sex was hot but no emotional involvement. Everything felt a little forced to be honest.
Hendrix was mostly rude or indifferent to her almost throughout the whole book and then kept whining about how Donna was a meanie.
I also didn't like how Hendrix kept calling her a bitch until the very end. It was supposed to be a compliment or their thing or whatever but considering that I didn't feel like he had any true feelings for her it sounded very demeaning everytime he said it.
Moreover he said this himself "But I had no idea where we stood. Not wanting me to get killed was a long way from actually wanting . . . whatever."
EXACTLY. We're never sure he ever felt anything for her. All the declarations of love' at the end just felt awkward.
And the whole roofie situation. I don't know why authors do this reverse PSA thing. Almost shoving it down our throats that if girls party(alone) too much or hook up too much they will get raped or atleast roofied sometime. I know it's a very real outcome for some but there is still a healthy percentage of women who have lived a wild life but fortunately haven't been assulted(sexually or otherwise).
That whole thankyou speech. "I wouldn't have blamed you" like why? I definitely would've blamed a person who I knew, for not helping when I was about to get raped.
I don't even know what the big deal was honestly? Why is going to bad club for hookups a dark dirty secret? I got her emotional baggage but the embarrassing culmination was OTT and unnecessary.
