Join City of La Mesa in the implementation of its tree planting initiative by becoming a certified Tree Steward!
The City of La Mesa will be planting 350 trees throughout La Mesa, and are looking to engage residents in learning more about urban forestry.

Learn how to properly plant, take care of, monitor, and share trees in your neighborhood! Certification includes training in tree stewardship and urban forest benefits. Join us for this unique online opportunity to learn more about:
- Tree species selection
- Tree planting
- Tree watering and other care
- Tree health
- Tree removal and reuse
- Landscape water conservation
- Community leadership

A Tree Steward is a volunteer who has completed the Tree San Diego Tree Steward Certification Program. Tree Stewards are trained and certified in various skills that they can use to preserve and enhance their neighborhood trees. When you become a Tree Steward, you are joining other San Diegans who are using their skills and knowledge for the betterment of their community. Modules will be made available in FALL of 20201.
