Our vision has always been to provide a "local solution by the local people for the local problem".
Each of the pilot programs has successfully raised local volunteers (child care, after-school, mentoring, satellite clinic and internship). The name, Orphan Care Ethiopia accurately described what we were launching with the pilot programs.
At this time, we are ready to expand our work beyond the pilot programs. The new name, Alliance Care Now, better represents what we will be doing going forward in several respects.
- First, we have expanded our work to care for vulnerable children and women in addition to orphans. This is necessary to help remedy the orphan crisis. Having the word "orphan" in our name limits our work.
- The new name better represents our desire to engage and partner with local volunteers.
- We have successfully developed a model for use by other countries to address the orphan and vulnerable crisis in their nations. The new name will communicate that our model can be used beyond Ethiopia.
We hope you will join us in celebrating the work that has been done, and you will continue to journey with us under the new name. Our mission to serve the orphans and vulnerable is stronger than ever!
Note, that our website will be updated over the coming month to reflect the new name.
