Regional Government Services (RGS) and its staff are conducting the recruitment on behalf of the City of Marina.

Assistant Civil Engineer - This is the entry-level position in the professional engineering series. This class is distinguished from other roles in the series by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties.
 
Associate Civil Engineer - This is the journey-level class in the professional series and is distinguished from the Assistant level by the assignment of the full range of duties. Employees at this level receive occasional instruction or assistance. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the Assistant Civil Engineer level.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
 
Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree, with coursework in civil engineering or a related field.

Experience: One (1) year of responsible engineering design, plan review, and project administration for the Assistant Engineer.  Three (3) years of professional engineering design, plan review, and project administration experience for the Associate Engineer.
 
License & Certifications: Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid California driver's license. For the Assistant Engineer, possession an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certificate or obtain certification issued by the State of California within one year or before end of probation period, whichever occurs first. For the Associate Engineer, possession of a Registered Professional Civil Engineer license in the State of California.
