Help Kathleen (Ms. Music) with her hospital bills

Kathleen Phraner is a beloved preschool music teacher at First Baptist Church of Athens, employee at Pimento’s gift shop on the square, worship leader at West Highland Baptist Church, and piano teacher at her home in Athens, Alabama. 

She is known fondly as “Ms. Music” by many for her years of dedicated teaching, and she is equally known for her big smile, enthusiastic personality, and heart for her students. She has three sons (Michael, Robert, and Stephen) and one grandson (Gabriel) who she loves dearly.

On Sunday, September 26th, Kathleen Phraner was taken by ambulance from her home to the Athens Hospital due to severe dehydration and low oxygen levels. During her first night at the hospital she tested positive for Covid-19 along with other medical issues. 

The doctors tried to stabilize her oxygen levels with several different breathing treatments and machines from Sunday night until Tuesday morning. On Tuesday, September 28th, Kathleen was moved to the ICU and placed on a ventilator. Since then, she has remained in the ICU on the ventilator, making a little progress each day, praise the Lord! 

On Monday, October 4th, Kathleen was able to wake up enough to write down some questions to ask her mother, Jean Holley, when she was there for a visit. This was the first communication Kathleen had been able to do since she was put on the ventilator almost a week before.

It has now been a week and a half since she went to the hospital, and Kathleen will be facing large medical bills when she is well enough to come home. We have started this GoFundMe since several people have asked how they can help. 

Any donation would be so appreciated and would help Kathleen tremendously as she’s trying to rest and recover from this illness whenever she is able to come home. (Anyone who knows her knows she will be eager to get back to work!)

We appreciate all of your prayers during this time! The Lord is sovereign and we praise Him for the healing he has already done in Kathleen. We also pray for Him to continue that work so she is able to come home safe and sound as soon as she can.
