It is estimated that 50 million people worldwide suffer from Alzheimer’s Disease. Join us for an author visit on the eve of World Alzheimer's Day on September 21.

I Am My Mother’s Mother: A Loving Journey through Dementia is a personal journey of a daughter and her mother, learning firsthand what dementia does to a person’s brain and body. Covering from initial diagnosis to end of life, I Am My Mother's Mother shares the obstacles, steps backwards, lapses in quality of care, and the importance of laughter when you need it, tears when you must, and to always trust your instincts when things just don’t seem right. This book covers caring for a loved one with memory loss from diagnosis, finding the right living situation, and moving them into an unknown world and life at a time when their brains cannot comprehend change or handle stress. It deals with health crises, care staffs that lose interest in caring for this disease when it gets advanced and difficult to handle, conflicts between care staff interpretation of care versus the doctors’ medical recommendations, and all aspects of providing a quality life when the patient no longer knows what their life is or was.

Attend online or in person to hear the talk. Attend in person to buy a signed copy of the book and meet the author.
