As part of NYU Metro Center’s
Brown@70 Series, we are proud to partner with New York Appleseed and the National Coalition on School Diversity (NCSD) to bring you this incredible event:
Brown v. Board of Education's impact on Black educators, both inside and outside of the South, featuring:
- A screening of a work-in-progress film by Epic Theatre Ensemble, which focuses on the impact of Brown v. Board of Education on Southern Black educators, followed by a talkback with student actors.
- Professor Zoë Burkholder will share insights from her forthcoming paper, “The Impact of Brown v. Board of Education on Black Educators Outside of the South, 1934-1974.”
Together, we’ll explore how we might begin to more effectively tell the story about Brown's impact on Black educators and why this history matters for achieving educational equity, racial healing, and school integration.
