Christmas Market - Sunday, December 5
A Christmas Market and Craft Market will be held in the Pleasance car park, next to Ongar Library, on Sunday (December 5).
Organisers are expecting about 40 stalls - the biggest market yet - with Santa’s sleigh and mulled wine.
The market is a chance to buy that unusual gift and support an initiative run by the Ongar Town Forum for the local community.
Food and drink stalls will be selling French wine, home-made cakes and other bakery products, vintage sweets, artisan flavoured gin, fruit and vegetables, cheeses, honey, Turkish marinades and chilli sauces, smoked beef jerky, seafood, sausages, cooked meats, savoury pasties and free range eggs.
Plants and festive wreaths will also be on sale.
Craft stalls will be selling personalised products, glass, handmade cards, wooden signs, plaques and furniture, hand crocheted toys, jewellery, handmade cushions and bags, environmentally-friendly skincare and make-up, handmade dog bandanas, magnetic therapy jewellery, accessories, upcycled crafts made from wood and glass, crystal jewellery, health and wellbeing products and much more.
Market co-ordinator Derek Birch said: "If anyone knows the owners of cars which are parked in the Pleasance car park overnight into Sunday morning, and are left there all day, please could you ask them to use one of the other car parks as it causes problems laying out the market and is an obstruction to pedestrians and stall holders. Without them we could have more stalls."
He added: "Thank you to everyone who has supported the markets which have been held on the first Sunday of the month since August and who have helped make the markets, which have grown month on month, such a great success.
"After a winter break, the market will return on Sunday, March 6, and will continue on the first Sunday in the month throughout 2022."

ONGAR TOWN FORUM FARMERS' MARKET AND CRAFT MARKET FEEDBACK (AUGUST MARKET)
Emma Robson, director, Stort Valley Spirits - Thank you to all the organisers, volunteers and Morris dancers! Stort Valley Spirits had a great time; Ongar drank us dry - no cucumber, dark chocolate, salted caramel or maple and orange left! We know what to bring next time.
Helen Barker, of Barkers Bakes - We loved it ! So nice seeing Ongar buzzing with lots of people milling around.
Lovely Creations by Lulu - It was a fabulous event. Well done for everyone involved who organised it! And thank you to everyone who stopped at my stall and placed orders.
I can't wait for the next market in September.
