WITH HEARTS AND MINDS, WE'RE TURNING VISION INTO ACTION
(Vice) Principal's Message
It is hard to believe we are already 2 months into this school year! It is shaping up to be another busy Month at RSS! We had "Professor Wow" visit our K-5's recently who used his mind-boggling circus skills to reveal these invisible forces that are right under our noses. One of our School District Tipis was erected on the field for our students to learn more about Indigenous ways of being. We had an amazing dress up day with staff and students. Our Fruit and Veggie program continues to bring fresh produce to our students twice a month. Our grade 8's had a field trip to Lemon Creek. Our grade 6 and 7's are going to the Charles Bailey Theatre in Trail on November 4th to see "The Hungry Feast Dish" an award winning Indigenous children’s theatre production. On November 7th we have "Rhythm Resource" (a company of people Passionate about Percussion!) performing for our K-7 students. Our Remembrance Day assembly is on November 10th. We round out the month with our Spirit Day with a twins/multiples theme on November 25th. After a long 2 years we are planning many more activities and opportunities for our students. Thanks to all of the staff, PAC, volunteers, community members and students that make these events possible!
Mr. N. Robinson
Vice Principal
RSS Costume Parade & Dance Party
On October 31st, our students showed off their amazing costumes with a parade through the school. They made their way through all the classrooms picking up classes along the way and finished in the Auditorium with a Just Dance dance party.
RSS TiPi
You may have noticed a tipi on the RSS field. Many thanks go out to the LFI 9 students, Mme. Bryar Wood, Mrs. Kuhn and Tally Robinson for erecting the tipi on a very cold and snowy day. SD20 has several tipis that schools use throughout the year. The tipi is the perfect place to gather to learn more about Indigenous ways of knowing and being, and learn as a community. Classes have gathered to hear stories and learn more about tipis. Some students have chosen to take part in smudging in the tipi as well.
"The tipi teaches us how to care for ourselves and reminds us of the good values that make up an honorable person. It teaches community and how to care for others and how we bring ourselves together to live in harmony with all things."

Morning & Afterschool Pick up and Drop off
Rossland Collision has asked that parents please NOT use their parking lot as a drop off/pick up location. It is not safe as they have vehicles coming in and out of the bays and they have dogs on site. Please drop off students at the school.
Winter Weather is Coming!
Just a reminder to make sure your child(ren) have the appropriate outdoor clothing for all the wonderful seasons in Rossland. Students are outside daily for morning recess, lunch recess and classroom activities. They need to dress so they are comfortable and can enjoy their time outside.
