Many high school and college students have a passion for sports but lack resources and/or representation which creates barriers for their career pursuits in the sports business. As a result, the sports industry is not as diverse or inclusive as it could (should) be.

Let's create awareness of career pathways in sports and provide access to the people & experiences necessary to make a career in sports a reality.

Our mission: Changing the lives of underrepresented high school and college students through the sports business

How do we bring that mission to life?

Fully funded programs connecting sports industry professionals directly to high school and college students. Professionals share their pathways, and advice and help these students navigate challenging transitions from high school to college, and college to career.

  • College Readiness programs support high school students with increased awareness of careers in sports and support towards making an informed college decision.
  • Career Readiness programs support college students by building their social capital and connecting them to careers.

2022 Impact:

  • 435 high school and college students served across 12 states
    • 76% of students identified as underrepresented
  • 490 industry professionals from 140 different organizations volunteered
  • $33,000 awarded in college scholarships to participating students

  • 1,600+ high school and college students have participated in programs
  • 170+ students have enrolled in ongoing development programs
  • 50+ high school alumni currently enrolled in college
  • 25 college alumni presently working in the sports & entertainment industry
  • $105,000 in college scholarships awarded to 115+ participating students

Our Supporters:

Sports Biz Careers has attracted support from 500+ individual donors and raised more than $1,200,000 since 2019. Additionally, many sports organizations have made financial contributions, including Truist, On Location, Keurig Dr. Pepper, NASCAR, BODYARMOR, Fox Sports, Octagon Sports & Entertainment, CSM Sport & Entertainment, Cast Iron Media, and Navigate Research. We’ve also been awarded grants from the Charlotte Foundation, Wells Fargo Championship (PGA), and Foundation for the Carolinas.

College Readiness for high school students:

Career Exploration Camp Overview:

Career Exploration Camps provide the 1st step to a career in sports for any high school student who loves sports, and is curious to learn how they can turn that passion into a career, AT NO COST TO ATTEND.

Students meet and interact with local sports industry professionals across multiple career pathways including sports marketing, sports stats & analytics, sports media, sports agency, and more. Students will also visit local stadiums and arenas behind the scenes of the sports business. There’s also programming around college-readiness and personal/professional development, such as a LinkedIn Profile, Networking 101, and College-Admissions Speakers connecting with parents/guardians.

Career Readiness for college students:

Sports Biz Cares dba Sports Biz Careers. It is a 501(c)(3) organization based in Charlotte, NC that started in 2019. Our EIN # is 84-1937587. Our mission is to change the lives of underrepresented high school and college students through the sports business.
