Announcing Lyon Air Museum Private Photo Shoots
We are working with photographer Royce Rumsey and The Lyon Air Museum to produce a private
photo shoot with your car and the aircraft of the Lyon Air Museum during the month of May.
Photo shoots will comply with current social distancing guidelines.

Vern Norviel’s Story

“Darn, I wish I could take pictures like that! I guess if I could,
I wouldn’t be slogging away as a lawyer!”

Vern Norviel, Secret Car Club member, showed up last weekend to shoot his candy apple red CarreraS at the Lyon Air Museum.

Here’s the nearly unbelievable back story. Waiting in the museum for his photoshoot were a canary yellow Waco bi-plane and a silver B-25 Mitchell. Goosebumps happen next. It turns out Vern’s “first” father flew in WWII in a B-25 while serving in Burma. His “second” father — the one he found on Ancestry just a few years ago — was a traveling doctor who lived in Alaska. He outfitted his Waco bi-plane with floats in the summer and skis in the winter as he tended his patients.

Vern has sent photos of his car with both planes to his new brother and sisters to document the previously unknown shared slice of history.

“The photos Royce captured are remarkable, almost like paintings. I feel as is my car is featured in a car magazine. And touring the museum was crazy, it’s hard to believe all that exists in one place, much less in one hangar.”

Royce Rumsey has has developed an automotive photographic style of
“dynamic fidelity” resulting in images that better delineate the first-hand
experience of a car’s presence and character.

He is inspired by photographic and film greats Jesse Alexander and
John Frankenheimer, and the design/illustrative style of Syd Mead and
Harry Bradley. Royce’s work has appeared in TIME Magazine’s annual
10 Best of the Year issues, Business Week, WIRED, Communication
Arts publications and DriveTribe publications.

Images are created as museum/archive quality high-resolution digital format.
Enlargements and prints will be available upon request.

Photo shoot hours are limited from 8am–10am beginning May 1, 2020

We have spoken to a few members who are interested in this opportunity yet concerned about timing.
This is precisely why we are offering this now, it can be easily produced with social/physical distancing guidelines.
As well, many people also have more time available for appointments.
