In June 2021, UN Global Compact, through the work of the UN Global Compact Action Platform for Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, launched the SDG 16 Business Framework | Inspiring Transformational Governance. This is a tool that puts forward the theory and the demonstration of transformational governance and how it is underpinned by the targets and tenets of SDG 16: peace, justice and strong institutions. This framework builds upon international standards for responsible business, including the UN Global Compact Ten Principles. The aim is to present guidance and examples for each target of SDG 16 to encourage businesses to integrate the underlying values and principles of transformational governance in their internal and external activities.
UN Global Compact and Indonesia Global Compact Network ( IGCN) in collaboration with Indonesia Stock Exchange ( IDX) and with the support of the Ministry of National Development Planning/BAPPENAS and the Global Reporting Initiative ( GRI), will launch the Framework in Indonesia and present on how businesses can adopt and take action on transformational governance, and how to embrace a broader approach to corporate reporting on SDG 16.

This launch will be followed by a series of consultation classes, with the objective of: - To improve capacity of companies in deepening understanding of the role business in SDG 16 through the SDG 16 Business Framework | Inspiring Transformational Governance
- To assess and identify opportunities for improvement to move beyond compliance to advocacy
- To implement each target of SDG 16 through internal and external activities, including throughout a company’s supply chains
- To incorporate transformational governance into board and management oversight, values and culture, strategies, policies, operations and relationships
