PROGRAM OVERVIEW

This program offers our competitive players & families, a more intense 4-6 week session of tournament style baseball, against other local area Summer All Star teams. Summer All Stars provides teams with a chance to compete for tournament trophies, and play against highly skilled (Single A) level talent.

Team formation:

The number of Summer All Star teams that Dragon Youth Baseball forms for each Age Group, is based on the number of teams & coaches we have during the Spring season, and the general level of interest to participate amongst parents & players. Premier teams will continue play with their roster, unless they have a player that cannot make the season. The Premier coach will follow the player selection process to make their selection to fill their open Premier team slot.

Player Eligibility:

1st: When it comes to Summer All Stars eligibility, Dragon Youth Baseball follows the DFW Interlock rules about a Select league player's eligibility. The DFW Interlock rules can be found HEREMost Dragon Youth Baseball Recreational & Premier players, who are eligible to play in any of our 6U-14U Age Groups, will also be eligible to participate in our Summer All Star league.

This does not guarantee that other local baseball associations will also run their tournament/program in a similar fashion. As a general rule, if a player wants to be eligible for Summer All Stars, then they will need to refrain from appearing on any Select team's roster.

2nd: In order for a player to participate in our Summer All Star program, they will also need to be chosen by a coach within our Summer All Star league. Parents/Guardians will be notified of this, and must then complete a Summer All Star Player Registration form for each of their players who were chosen by a Summer All Star league coach in a timely manner.

AGAIN ONLY PLAYERS ELIGIBLE TO PLAY IN OUR 6U-14U AGE GROUPS, WILL BE ABLE TO BE ROSTERED TO A SUMMER ALL STAR TEAM.

Player Selection:

The head coach from each Summer All Star team, will coordinate with their respective Age Group Commissioner in choosing the players who will be on their roster. These player selections will be made based on numerous factors, including but not limited to, present season performance, and player insights provided by their present coaches. Once Summer All Star teams are formed, player uniforms will then be ordered, and coaches can begin the process of scheduling the tournaments that their teams will play.

Schedule:

Summer All Star team practices can begin as soon as the regular Recreational & Premier Spring season, and Recreational League End of Season Tournament concludes. Dependent on how successful our Summer All Star teams are, their season could extend into late June.

Tournaments are setup with 2 pool games with a single elimination tournament bracket on Sunday. Most pool games are double headers on Fridays/Saturdays, and the single elimination tournament bracket on Sundays can be comprised of 3-5 games depending on the team's seeding.

There is a commitment from the player & parents that they will be available throughout the month of May & June, in order to participate in practices and games. There is no guarantee of equal playing time, and there are no rules regarding number of innings at a particular position.

Commitment:

Due to  the level of competition involved, Summer All Star teams are often practicing or playing games 5-6 days each week. On days that the team is not playing in a game, it is safe to assume that the team will be practicing. This can create a problem if a player will be out-of-town, or otherwise unavailable, for more than a few days at any point during their summer break.

Dragon Youth Baseball strongly advises any families who choose to participate in our Summer All Star program, also postpones scheduling any trips/vacations until after the Summer All Star season concludes (typically in late June).

Fees & Expenses

There are expenses for entering these teams into the local tournaments, player uniforms, equipment, team parties, etc. A reasonable estimate of total expenses is roughly $600-700 per player including the required DYB Summer All Star registration fee.
