THIS YEAR, we are focusing on the theme of DEMOCRACY. Where have you seen or created meaning about rule by the people? What memes are telling the story of our power, participation and legitimacy?!

Top Memes considers interventions used or created by our social movements to challenge the status quo as well as the mass memes shaping politics and pop culture. For us, memes aren’t just pictures with text that spread through social media. Memes are containers to spread meaning through story, using writing, speech, gestures, images, rituals, and other phenomena — capsules that convey the meaning of a larger story!
