Frequently asked questions

Q. Do I need to be sure of what I want to do next in my career?

A. Nope. A big part of this weekend is helping you identify your transferable skills and gain confidence in what to do next.

Q. Does this include a resume?

A. No. For a very good reason. If you apply to an advertised job you're competing against 100's of people. Recruiters cull people if they do not have recent relevant experience. As you'll be changing out of teaching you'll need to network more. That's why we're setting you up with a LinkedIn profile - which will form the basis of your networking.

Q. I haven't used LinkedIn yet, will that be a problem?

A. All good. We'll be helping you get set up with a profile.

Q. Other teachers have said, once a teacher always a teacher. Are they right?

A. Don't listen to people who've never stepped out of their comfort zone. Look on LinkedIn and you'll find that's not true.

Q. I feel really guilty about leaving my kids, am I really up for this?

A. Making a change does not need to be permanent, you could just use this weekend to help you take a sabbatical, then return upskilled and refreshed. Or you could seek out jobs where you train and develop teachers, and have the same impact, but on a broader scale.

Q. How do I know this will work?
