Our annual event is a unique opportunity for simulation experts, industry professionals, and academics to come together and explore the latest advancements in the Oasys and LS-DYNA world.

This year’s conference features a comprehensive programme designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills to unlock the full potential of LS-DYNA and the Oasys Suite. Learning Labs

During one of the two Interactive Session slots of the day, you will have the opportunity to participate in our Learning Labs. These labs are designed to enhance your knowledge and understanding of the selected topics.

Conference delegates can attend two Learning Labs out of the three available options, with each lab lasting for 30 minutes. Choose from the following topics:

Beyond the basics in post-processing – Jac Cross and Jonathan Moxey, Oasys LS-DYNA team

Learn about some of the useful functionality in D3PLOT and T/HIS for that can take you beyond the basics of simple contour plotting and animating. We’ll take a look at some of the ways you can use D3PLOT and T/HIS to help with model comparison, linking graphs and model views and using bookmarks in your work. This session will particularly suit those who have less experience in our post-processing software and are interested to find out more about what it can do. If you use PRIMER and not the Oasys post-processing tools this is also for you – the post-processing tools can also be accessed via a PRIMER license.

Virtual Testing – What challenges is/will Virtual Testing bring to your CAE teams? – Rory Bradshaw and Harry Graham, Oasys LS-DYNA team

In this learning lab we will give an overview of the new Workflow tools in Oasys 21 that have been created to help you meet the requirements of the Euro NCAP Virtual Testing Crashworthiness Protocol. You will have an opportunity to ask specific questions about the tools as well as request additional features and tools that will help you overcome any hurdles that you may be facing in your Virtual Testing workflow.

LS-DYNA – Battery Modelling – Raphael Heininger, Ansys and David McLennan, Arup

Discover the intricacies of an electro-thermo-mechanical coupled homogenized cylindrical cell model in this comprehensive deep dive. The model addresses mechanical failure caused by indentation and temperature increases due to short circuits, ultimately leading to thermal events. Gain valuable insights into the modelling strategy and learn about essential LS-DYNA keywords. Get a glimpse of pre- and post-processing LS-DYNA multi-physics battery models through a live demonstration using Oasys PRIMER.


Table Discussions

During one of the two Interactive Session slots of the day, you will have the chance to participate in our round Table Discussions. The objective of this session is to engage in live discussions with our team and industry colleagues to explore and debate topics that we believe will shape the future of your work. We hope these sessions will provide delegates with the opportunity to express their views on the topics that interest them the most. Conference delegates will have the opportunity to attend 3 tables, with each table session lasting for 15 minutes. Choose from the following topics:

AI/ML in Oasys LS-DYNA Environment

Artificial Intelligence in Computer-Aided Engineering is a growing area of interest, blending traditional engineering practices with innovative data driven techniques. These can assist in predicting simulation results, streamlining design processes, and improving decision-making efficiency. This round table discussion aims to explore how AI can be used in your simulation workflow and how Oasys can help to support these new techniques in the future.

At Arup, we are committed to continuously enhancing our software to meet evolving industry needs and technological advancements. Direct feedback from our users is a vital part of this. This session is a forum to discuss how workflows are changing and how the Oasys LS-DYNA development team can provide the best value to our users.

  • What’s the biggest challenge or bugbear you encounter when post-processing your LS-DYNA results?

Oasys Web Viewers – Communication of results/data? What do you want to see next? Have you tried it?

The Oasys LS-DYNA web viewers (Oasys D3PLOT Viewer and Oasys Report Viewer) have been introduced over the last couple of years. They provide results in 3D for all – designed to be accessible to everyone, without a need for a license, and without prior knowledge of running the desktop versions of our tools. Communication of results can be much more interactive and contain more context than a standard PDF/PPT. Reports can be created automatically after an LS-DYNA analysis has finished, saving time in the processing and communication of results.

Example questions to be discussed at this table:

  • Have you used the web viewers? If yes, what feedback do you have?
  • If you have not used the web viewers, what is preventing you from using them?
  • What would you like to see developed in the viewers in the future?

LS-DYNA – what would you like to see next?

This round table discussion aims to gather insights from participants regarding their experiences with LS-DYNA. We are interested in understanding the various applications users have explored and any specific challenges they have encountered.

Example questions to be discussed at this table:

  • What types of problems do you solve using LS-DYNA?
  • What is your main challenge with using LS-DYNA?
  • What types of problems to you use alternative solvers for and why? What are the obstacles that have prevented you from using LS-DYNA for these types of analysis?
  • Do you use the implicit solver in LS-DYNA?
  • Do you use any of the Multi-Physics solvers in LS-DYNA (fluid flow, electromagnetics, chemistry etc)?
  • What features would you like to see in LS-DYNA in the future?

Automation, scripting and Python in the Oasys LS-DYNA Environment

Python has become a very popular language and lots of Oasys users have requested support for scripting in Python, similar to the traditional JavaScript API. As a consequence, over the past year, a Python API has been developed for all Oasys products and is now fully available in version 21. This session aims to discuss with users why they need to use Python, what they are planning to do now that the Python API is available and what advantages it is going to provide.

Example questions to be discussed at this table:

  • Are you currently using the JavaScript API?
  • Do you need to use Python? If so, why?
  • Is there anything you couldn’t do with JavaScript that you will be able to do with Python?
  • Are you planning to integrate Oasys with other software via Python?

Raphael Heiniger
Senior Application Engineer, Ansys
Raphael is based at Ansys Switzerland GmbH in Zurich, specializing in automotive consulting for single cell and battery pack simulations with LS-DYNA. With expertise in sheet metal forming, electromagnetic simulations, PyAnsys, crash simulations, and ALE methods, he has a comprehensive background in multi-physics simulations. Raphael previously worked at DYNAmore Swiss GmbH and Bühler AG, and holds a master’s in civil engineering from the University of Innsbruck and a bachelor’s from the University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland.
Gavin Newlands
Oasys LS-DYNA Environment Product Manager, Arup
Gavin has a background in mechanical engineering and has worked at Arup for over 20 years, using analysis to solve complex engineering problems. He now is the Product Manager for the Oasys LS-DYNA Environment, a tailored suite of complementary tools that give you the power to prepare LS-DYNA models, interpret results and share solutions.
Miles Thornton
Automation and Process Integration Lead of the Oasys LS-DYNA Environment, Arup
Miles has over 25 years’ experience using LS-DYNA and over 20 years’ experience in software development. Miles’ technical background is in mechanical engineering, and he is one of the main developers for the Oasys LS-DYNA Environment software, with responsibility for Automation and Process Integration, contributing to many of the products, with specific expertise in Oasys PRIMER, Oasys REPORTER and JavaScript development.
Simon Hart
Technical Specialist Services Portfolio Director, Arup
Simon leads Arup’s Product Engineering Practice. He has extensive experience in the use of Computer Aided Engineering in vehicle design and manages consultancy projects for Arup’s automotive clients. Simon works closely with the Oasys LS-DYNA team to provide a link between the development of digital products and their application on engineering projects. Simon joined Arup in 1994.
Sarah Chams Bacha
Oasys LS-DYNA Software Developer, Arup
Sarah has background in electrical engineering. Over the last 3 years, she has worked on enhancing existing features in Oasys PRIMER such as the Seatbelt Fitting and Crash Test Setup Tools and implemented the Battery Setup Tool. She has also helped deliver the Seatbelt Fitting training course.
Matt Smolka
Advanced Simulation Principal Engineer, Lotus Cars
Matt specializes in crashworthiness and the application of LS-DYNA for simulation tasks. He graduated from Cranfield University with a focus on Advanced Lightweight Structures and Impact. Matt has a keen interest in artificial intelligence to enhance computer-aided engineering and improve efficiency. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and is a member of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).
Andrew White
Oasys PRIMER Product Manager, Arup
Andrew, a mathematician with over 10 years of experience supporting LS-DYNA, has worked as a programmer enhancing the user interface, output reader, meshing tools, and crash test setup in the Oasys LS-DYNA Environment. Now, as Product Manager for Oasys PRIMER, he focusses on simplifying and accelerating the preparation and modification of LS-DYNA models.
Richard Young
MDO Lead Engineer, Jaguar Land Rover
Richard has more than 20 years of experience at Jaguar Land Rover, specializing in crash load analysis using LS-DYNA software. Renowned for his ability to simplify complex processes, he adeptly extracts crucial objective data for Multidisciplinary Design Optimization (MDO) using the Oasys Suite. His unwavering dedication to efficiency and proficiency in delivering effective solutions.
Katie Lampl
Senior Engineer Technical Specialist Services Portfolio, Arup
Katie has over 7 years of experience using LS-DYNA and the Oasys software for automotive design, as well as for structural and seismic analysis. She has also provided LS-DYNA technical support and delivered training courses.

Terms and Conditions of Purchase

The full conditions of purchase and maintenance for all Oasys software are set out in the Oasys Software Licence and Support Agreement. All prices are subject to TAX at the current rate.

Prices and specifications are subject to change without notice – please ask for a written quotation.

Although every care has been taken to ensure the accuracy of all information contained herein, the contents do not form or constitute a representation, warranty, or part of any contract.

Superseded Versions of Terms and Conditions

Oasys keeps copies of all superseded versions of its terms and conditions.

Maintenance & Support Services

Twelve months support and maintenance is included with most products. Thereafter maintenance is calculated as a percentage of the current sales price.

An annual maintenance service is available for most programs after the first year.

This service includes:

  • telephone/fax/email/web based support
  • free software updates available via internet download
  • personalised output header for many products

Terms & Conditions

Trials Terms & Conditions Contents

This is a legal licence agreement (“Agreement”) between you (“User”) and Oasys Ltd (“Oasys”). Please read carefully the terms and conditions of this Agreement before downloading, installing or using any of the Software referred to herein.

 

By clicking “Accept T&Cs” below, supplying Oasys with the User’s contact details for the purpose of downloading/using the Software or downloading, installing or using the Software the User acknowledges and agrees that:

 

If the User does not agree to be bound by the terms of this Agreement they may not download, install or use the Software.

 

GRANT OF LICENCE: Oasys grants the User the right to use free of charges, a copy of the Oasys Suite of Software programs / LS-DYNA software / FEMZIP Software / Barrier FE Model / Pedestrian FE Model and related documentation (collectively “Software”) for evaluation and demonstration purposes only for the term of this Agreement. Unless agreed otherwise in writing, the term of this Agreement shall be 1 month from the date the Software is downloaded by the User. User shall not distribute, disclose, market, rent, lease or transfer the Software to any third party. Oasys reserves all rights in the Software not expressly granted to the User in this Agreement.

 

TERM AND TERMINATION: Evaluation of the Software shall commence upon the date the Software is downloaded by the User and will terminate on the expiry of the term of this Agreement as detailed above (termed “Trial Licence Period”). If User does not purchase the Software prior to the expiration of the Trial Licence Period this Agreement expires automatically and User shall immediately destroy all copies of the Software, including all media and manuals received with the evaluation copy. PLEASE NOTE: If User thereafter licenses the Software, all terms and conditions of Oasys’ Software Licence Agreement, which is to be separately agreed between Oasys and User prior to User’s receipt of the Software, shall be in full force and effect and the terms and conditions of this Agreement shall be null and void.

 

COPYRIGHT AND CONFIDENTIALITY: User understands that the Software / FE Models remain the proprietary property of the Software / FE Model author(s) and are protected by the United Kingdom Copyright laws and the international treaty provisions. User agrees to protect the Software / FE Models with at least the same standard of care and procedures which User uses to protect its own proprietary information and in no event, less than a reasonable standard of care.

 

EXPORT CONTROL: User understands and acknowledges that the Software / FE Models is subject to the export administration regulations of the UK. Unless agreed otherwise in writing, the User shall not transfer the Software outside the United Kingdom.

 

WARRANTY: Oasys warrants that the Livermore Software Technology Corporation (LSTC) is the owner of the LS-DYNA Software and that Oasys Ltd is the owner of the Oasys Suite of Software programs and FE Models.  Oasys Ltd shall indemnify and defend User against any and all claims that the Software infringes on any U.S. patent or copyright or violates any other proprietary of a third party.

 

NO OTHER WARRANTY: User acknowledges that this licence is only for evaluation purposes and that the Software / FE Models are being provided to user “as is”. EXCEPT AS PROVIDED ABOVE OASYS DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OR MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. OASYS DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL MEET USER’S REQUIREMENTS, OPERATE IN COMBINATIONS SELECTED BY USER, PRODUCE RESULTS DESIRED BY USER OR OPERATE WITHOUT INTERRUPTION OR ERROR FREE.

 

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY: OASYS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE THAT MAY ARISE IN CONNECTION WITH FURNISHING, PERFORMANCE OR USE BY USER OF THE SOFTWARE, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND.

 

MODIFICATION: Oasys reserves the right to modify and/or change any of the terms and conditions of this Agreement at any time and without prior notice. If Oasys materially modifies this Agreement it will make reasonable efforts to notify the User of the change. For example, Oasys may send a message to the User’s email address, or generate a pop-up or similar notification when the User accesses the Software for the first time after such material changes are made. By continuing to use the Software after Oasys has posted a modification of this Agreement, the User agrees to be bound by the modified Agreement. If the modified Agreement is not acceptable to the User, the User’s only recourse is to discontinue the use of and uninstall the Software. This Agreement will also govern any software upgrades and/or updates provided by Oasys that upgrade and/or supplement the Software, unless such upgrades and/or updates are accompanied by a separate licence, in which case the terms of that separate licence will apply.

 

ENTIRE AGREEMENT: This Agreement sets forth the entire agreement and understanding of the parties and supersedes all prior oral and written agreements and understandings relating thereto. This Agreement shall only become effective when the User indicates acceptance of its terms in any one of the manners prescribed above. This Agreement shall be subject to English law and any disputes referred to the English Courts.
