In August, 2023, Vernon ISD started using a new Parent-Teacher communication program called Rooms. This information is for our parents on how they can access Rooms for each of their children. How do I create a Rooms account? You go to id.edurooms.com/signup. You will first be asked for a Magic Code for your child (see next question on where to get that). When you enter the Magic Code it will ask you for a little bit of information and then get your account created.
Where do I get my child's Magic Code? You can get your child's Magic Code from your child's teacher. You can also email chantilly.sweet@visdtx.org and ask for your child's code (please include your name and the names of all of your children).
I have more than one child but only see one. How can I add my other children? Each child has their own Magic Code so you will have to add your children individually. Here is a video to show you how to add a student to your account after you've already created your account. You can get the Magic Code for your child from their teacher. You can also email chantilly.sweet@visdtx.org if you need assistance (please include your name and the names of all of your children).
How do I access Rooms once my account is setup? You can access Rooms by going to id.edurooms.com on a computer or you can download the Vernon ISD app. The app is available for both Android and Apple phones. Simply go to the app store or play store on your device and search Vernon ISD.
How do I use a computer to access Rooms? Once you have set up your Rooms account (first question in this list), you go to id.edurooms.com and sign in. Here is a video to show you how to navigate Rooms on the computer.
How do I use the Vernon ISD app to access Rooms? Once you have your Rooms account set up, you can easily use our Vernon ISD app to access it. Here is a video to show you how!
My student is linked to my account but I don't see any classes. You will not see classes until the teacher has published the Room. Since this is a new program, and we are at the beginning of the year, we are still working out some "kinks". Soon all parents should see classes published in Rooms.
Why am I not getting notifications? There could be a few reasons why you are not getting notifications. First, make sure you have actually logged into the app on your phone. Second, make sure you check your notification preferences (see this video) are set correctly. You may want to check these preferences after an app update. Finally, make sure you have the most updated version of the app.
