Welcome to Kindergarten

In the Peel District School Board, we share and embrace the belief that, “Children are competent, capable of complex thinking, curious, and rich in potential and experience. They grow up in families with diverse social, cultural, and linguistic perspectives. Every child should feel that he or she belongs, is a valuable contributor to his or her surroundings, and deserves the opportunity to succeed. The Kindergarten Program, 2016, Page 10

The booklet gives an overview of the Kindergarten program, information about how children learn and develop, suggestions for ways to help your child transition for school and activities to help make the most of those important learning opportunities at home learn.

A Day in Kindergarten

SRWB2.4 We feel safe and happy in our environment by following our visual Flow of the Day.

The Kindergarten Program

  • At Tribune Drive Public School, we believe that, “Parents are the first and most powerful influence on children’s learning, development, health, and well-being. Families should feel that they belong, are valuable contributors to their children’s learning, and deserve to be engaged in a meaningful way.” The Kindergarten Program 2016, page 10
BC25.1 We show pride in our accomplishments.

We Learn Through Play OUTSIDE Every Day

In the Fall, we can wear sweaters, jackets, pants, and outdoor shoes. Maybe, even mittens and a hat!
In the Winter, we can wear hats, mittens, scarves, coats, snow pants, and winter boots. Staying dry and warm makes playing in the snow fun!
In the Spring, we can wear a light jacket and rain boots. Splash!
In the Summer, we can wear shorts, t-shirts, dresses, and drink LOTS of water to stay cool. (No a/c for us!)

We Learn Through Play INSIDE Every Day

We are scientists who ask questions, investigate, and problem solve! #FutureThinkers
We are master builders with our blocks. #FutureArchitects
We are letter detectives. #ABCs
We are mathematicians with loose parts. #DiceGames
We are artists, musicians, dramatists, and dancers. #Creative
We are explorers with our senses. #Touch
We are bike riders and scooter drivers! (And, hula-"hoopers" and ball throwers, too!)
We eat twice a day at school all together, and if we are hungry at other times during the day we can eat then too.
