April 2021 Dear Friend,
I have been reflecting on the past year and want to share a few things with you.
First, it's hard to believe that we have been delivering classes virtually and outdoors for over a year. Thanks to our incredible teaching team, we never stopped delivering the vital services our students and families come to rely on. We have continued to ensure at-risk children in our community are ready for success in kindergarten and beyond.
Second, we miss being in person with our volunteers. One of the reasons our program is so successful is because of our dedicated volunteers. They provide a vital intergenerational relationship that helps our students build a path toward lifelong learning and reading. We are so thankful for all of our volunteers as they stayed connected to our program during this unprecedented year.
Lastly, when we the community comes together, we can create great things. I have been humbled by the response and generosity of this community. You have donated money during our Giving Tuesday, GiveChoose, and sponsored and/or purchased tickets to our annual golf tournament. You have given your time by sending postcards containing messages of love and hope and by creating videos for Read Across AART. You also arranged book and supply drives so our students have everything they need to learn. All of this makes it possible to continue our mission.
This year has been challenging for everyone around the world and we are still feeling the effects of COVID-19. As we move forward, I am filled with hope and optimism that a new day is on the horizon.
With gratitude, Michelle Sullivan Executive Director
