Beginning Sounds Cookie Sheet Center with Magnetic Letters or Letter Tiles

Do you need an engaging literacy center activity for beginning sounds?

This Cookie Sheet Alphabet Beginning Sounds Activity is a fun, hands-on way for young children in Pre-K, Transitional Kindergarten (TK), Kindergarten or 1st Grade to practice identifying the beginning sounds of common words. This activity is GREAT for morning work, and can be used in lots of different ways! Children can use letter magnets, letter tiles, or even dry-erase markers if you put the cards in plastic sleeves. The great thing about this activity is that it is simple enough to be done independently in Kindergarten and 1st grade!

The cards can also be used as the basis for a small or large group activity, as long as you have enough letter trays for each child in the group. Asking each child to respond by showing you the correct letter (or even making a word on the edge of the tray) is a fantastic way to ensure that all students are engaged, on task, and happy!

There are four different versions provided of this Beginning Sounds Cookie

Sheet Activity with Plastic Letters, plus some printable letters:

-37 Full-Color Task Cards in order from A-Z, to be cut apart into individual

cards. (Just choose the letters you want them to work on!)

-37 Full-Color Task Cards in MIXED order, to be used as full sheet task

card

-37 Black & White Ink Saving Task Cards in order from A-Z, to be cut

apart in individual cards (Just choose the letters you want them to work on!)

-37 Black & White Ink Saving Task Cards in MIXED order, to be used as

full sheet task cards

-Printable letters to be cut apart if needed, just in case you do not have plastic letters.

-Alphabet Organizers in color and BW to place the letters on. It is helpful to teach kids to place their letters on top of this sheet before they begin and when they are not using them. 

Not included: Magnetic plastic letters, cookie sheets.
