An exciting opportunity launching for Leeds based young people with a passion for dance.

We are currently looking for young people with a passion for movement to take part in a series of story development workshops that will help to create fictional authentic characters and storylines for an exciting new TV series.

Dance School

Think ‘Fame’ crossed with ‘This is England’ updated to NOW. The drama series is being developed in association with Channel 4 & the BFI Young Audiences Content Fund and is constructed around a gang of students aged 16-25 attending a world-renowned Dance School in Chapeltown, Leeds and will explore current issues affecting young people.

Please note that this is not a casting audition process. Selection onto the development workshops does not guarantee a role in the TV series; however, all successful participants will be paid for their contributions and will have the chance to apply for cast and crew opportunities at a later stage.

Applications

We are opening this up to wide range of people: you might be active in performing arts; take extra-curricular classes; have never learned; only done it at school during PE; be completely self-taught or just love music.

Potential participant criteria:

• All abilities (from bedroom dancers to professionally trained) who have a love of dance!
• Any and all backgrounds, genders, body shapes and needs.
• Age: 16 to 20 (Years 11-13+)
• Live in Leeds and surrounding areas
• No professional experience required

Process

Due to the uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus outbreak, our search is currently being conducted ‘virtually’, by connecting with local communities online. We would love to visit schools and organisations to meet with young people directly at some point, but until that can be achieved without risk, we will conduct our search at arm’s length.
