Week Seven
It's hard to believe that half-term has arrived and that we have already completed 35 school days. These last 7 weeks has seen both challenging and rewarding times and it is a testament to the resilience, adaptability, support and the #weareinthistogether mindset of the DHA community that has led to such a successful term so far. I am often mindful of the quote from Helen Keller, 'Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much'.
It's been another week of assessments in addition to lots of fun and exciting learning. Year 4 have been both scientists treating dirty water as well as budding artists this week, whilst Year 1 students have been learning about and making desert habitats.
Please enjoy the half-term holidays, stay safe, keep well and we look forward to seeing you back at school on Wednesday 21st October.
Last chance to have your say!

Inclusion@DHA
Happy Pink day everyone & well done on a fantastic first half term in school!
We are so proud of our new Unified Champions Zara and Victoria in Year 6 for their fantastic project on how they want to promote Inclusion in our school.
Here, Zara and Victoria made a huge effort to sign the song “True Colours” and to help raise awareness for Pink day!
A special shout out to Joshua in Year 6 for his fantastic announcement on the school intercom for Wellness Wednesday. This week we shared what we are all grateful for and Joshua said he was grateful for his family and his pets.
Nevena in Year 7 also did a fantastic job, and like us all, Nevena is grateful that school has re-opened!
Have a wonderful half-term break everybody and we look forward to another half-term of learning together.

Are the students at DHA ready for the DFC 2020? Each day you will be required to complete 30 minutes of exercise so that Dubai can become the most fit and healthy city in the world. Mr. King will be sending out information on what you can do both in and out of school. It should be a wonderful month with lots to look forward to! More to follow…
Dubai Schools 1KM run
When we return after half term, Mr. King will put on a special 1km run during the PE lessons. The students’ times will be recorded and entered into the system whereby we will compete against all of the Dubai schools. More news on this to follow.
Football
Our next sport in PE will be football. We will be using the football pitch, however there will be no contact and the children will remain socially distanced. The main focus will be on individual ball skills such as dribble, passing and shooting. It will run for approximately 5 weeks.
Badminton highlights
See video below of the student’s best shots.
Chromebooks
We are excited to report that the chromebooks for students in Year 3 to Year 7 have finally arrived this week. The IT Department is now busy setting up and configuring the chromebooks in readiness to distribute them to the students after the half-term holiday. During their Computing lesson the students will receive detailed information on using and looking after the device.
In the next few days parents will receive further information regarding chromebooks including the Dubai Heights Academy Chromebook Agreement. This letter of agreement, which is normal practice in educational establishments in the United Arab Emirates, outlines that the chromebook remains the property of Dubai Heights Academy and by agreeing to it that you are responsible for the cost of repairs/replacement for damage to or loss of the device.
The chromebooks will only be distributed to a student upon receipt of both the Dubai Heights Academy Chromebook Agreement and the Dubai Heights Academy Digital Technology Policy/Acceptable Use Agreement.
