Week 9
With just 10 days left until the spring break we will be keeping the students busy with lots of events, trips, subject days and fixtures over the coming days, so don't forget to keep an eye on the calendar and check your inbox for details.
This week the students have been busy doing assessments as well as investigating the key features of the life cycle of a plant, creating a greenhouse, identifying and classifying physical and human features, practicing new rhythms in music, planing routes on maps using compass directions, discovering how businesses make a profit, understanding the difference between needs and wants, designing layouts and content for a blog, multiplying fractions by whole numbers, describing what a vacuum is, defining data bias and articulating causes and remedies, finding out how heat is carried around the earth and reading for enjoyment.
Over the spring break we are excited to announce that our Spring Break Camp will be managed by ISM Sports. It will run for two weeks from 28th March until 8th April. So don't forget to sign up.
Please continue to stay safe and keep well. We wish you a pleasant weekend and look forward to seeing you back at school on Monday.

Expo 2020 Trips
We will be making our last trip to Expo 2020 as a school over the next 2 weeks and this time round our trip is focused on the Legacy of the UAE.
One lesson we learnt from our last trip was to pack a small lunch and a small water bottle in a bag that can be carried on the back. This allows students to move around more freely, not loose personal items and is light for them to walk around with. Our teachers will have extra water and sanitiser on hand. Kindly ensure students wear their hat, have sunscreen on and don't forget to bring their expo passport.

Tuesday 15th - Year 2
Monday 21st - Year 5 to Year 8

Lost and Found
A lost property table will be outside Main Reception (Gate 3) next week (14th - 17th March). Please come along at either drop off or pick up to reclaim your lost property. This will include items from the pool and changing rooms.
Please keep us informed
Delayed...delayed...delayed
It's happened to all of us, you get stuck in traffic and are then delayed in getting to school for pick up.
Please call the school and let us know if you are going to be late for normal school or ECA pick up times. We can then inform the teachers and ensure the students are taken to the main reception for late pick up collection.
Absence...absence...absence
Please remember to let us know if your child/children are off sick by emailing absence@dubaiheightsacademy.com before 9:00am on the day.
DHA PTA - Community Beach Clean Up
We have some good news to share with you. Our Community Beach Clean Event has now received the requisite approval from the DMCC and we will be opening up sponsorship to fundraise for a worthy UNICEF cause, managed by the finance team at DHA.
Please note the PTA has had to reschedule the date due to the school calendar being pretty full for the time being. We have two alternative dates to suggest to parents, please indicate which date you and your family would prefer by clicking the link below.
In the meantime, in the lead up to the event, we have some exciting activities for the children to get involved with both at school and during the spring break. This is a great opportunity for educational and fun learning experiences where students can learn about biology, sea life, their rights to live in an unpolluted environment, ocean preservation, wider sustainable development goals and much more! We will share more information about this initiative in future newsletters.
We hope you will continue to support this sustainability initiative and if you would like to get involved or have any ideas to contribute please join us at our onsite PTA meeting next Wednesday March 16th after drop off. We will be discussing this as well as our other ongoing PTA initiatives.

As this is an active movement session, we strongly recommend that you wear comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear to maximise your opportunities to benefit from this session. We look forward to seeing you all there.
